Dani…..hope you are enjoying your cute apartment and the teaching is going well. Almost Halloween, girl. And, you know where all your decorating treasures are! Yay! We miss you and the kids! Hugs Judy
Collin is amazing. I’ve never seen a guy so involved in the decluttering process and making such reasonable choices. Christine’s decluttering muscles are strong too!
Christine, the Supreme Decluttering Machine! She and Collin deserve every prize ever made for decluttering. What a great couple, working in unison. If this was my house there would have been tears and meltdowns 😅
Love this couple! As mom of two German “shedders” they are so relatable. A suggestion… if you turn the two metal ‘not trash cans’ sideways ( back to back) they would tuck underneath the bar countertop nicely without protruding into the room. ❤
Great work! There were two things Christine said about choosing newer over older and nicer over what they used, that could lead to declutter lessons that I have learned. We have preferences, nicer doesn't mean we like using them. Newer also doesn't mean we should keep them over older. It's ok to like what you like using and get rid of the rest. My other thought is about measuring cups, before getting rid of all the extras, consider if you have food containers that you like to keep a measuring cup in, like pet food or coffee.
Yes! "PYREX" is much tougher (and withstands more extreme temperatures) than new "Pyrex" so there's a BIG difference! Be sure to check which is which. 😊
So true! I have several very old things that I enjoy and never thought of replacing with "new" because they work so well. Not a lot of duplicates in my kitchen, but extra measuring spoons/cups definitely find their way into different jars and tubs. I've got one spoon exclusively for baking soda, a cup for cat food, for dried tea, etc. Outside of the two sets of measuring spoons on my counter in a pretty copper mule mug. I like them loose, not on the ring, in the mug so I can just grab the size I need.
I am speechless 😮 they were so ready for this. Christine even has a twinkle in her eyes. The free space they are getting is insane, so much less stress, they will be able to enjoy their little family so much more instead of trying to figure anything out. Great job April. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💖💖💖💖💖😘😘
Although it's charming, I'd replace the china cabinet behind the door with two tall pantry cabinets with doors. One could be used for food/appliance storage and the other for vacuum cleaners/cleaning products/etc). Then the storage bench could be repurposed to hold dog food and other pet-related items.
April, you find the best people to help. This couple is so lovely. They are really open to your help. The house is adorable. I so understand their frustration. People need to understand the importance of this is the box….you can only have so many wine glasses, so many bowls, so many small appliances in this box. I think we are all struggling with that concept. Hubby is so willing to help….i appreciate him taking so much strain of his wife. love this couple, they are doing great. Mama is such a help too. April you are a gentle yet truly brilliant team leader. Hugs Judy
I think they should consider putting the vases downstairs (maybe keeping out the two "best" sizes) and putting the serving ware in the corner cabinet in the dining room... Just a thought.😊 Oh! And I'd have saved that storage piece from the kitchen and put it downstairs for now. When the baby grows older, it would be cute in his room for books and toys!
I had the same thoughts. Using that corner piece in the dining room for the partyware like stemware, etc. Keep a couple favorite vases and put the others downstairs. And that would free more cabinet space in kitchen, which is gonna be needed as baby grows. And that storage shelf would probably be perfect for toys downstairs. But, they may have just been ready to see it go. lol
Just stopping into the comments to say that I absolute adore Christine, Collin, and Mary. I admire their ability to communicate so openly and declutter together. They're going to be great parents!
I LOVE this couple. Could you hear me LAUGHING 😂😂😂out loud when he said he wanted to keep 90 of the 93. They work together so well. They both are really SWEET and LOVE the mama also! ❤
I think some barstools at the bar in the kitchen would create a sitting area for someone to hang out while the other is cooking. Or another thought is to add a small table where the bench is, maybe move the bench somewhere else. The kitchen just needs to feel more welcoming so that you can hang out in there.
I do recommend either borrowing a 9 month old or crawling around yourself to see what you can reach. That storage thing on the backside of the kitchen looks like a climbing gym filled with breakable items! Vase cabinet also looks tantalizing to a tot. People bring different philosophies on child proofing, so for me personally, I found creating spaces that work for adults and also don’t require regular redirection or saying no worked best.
Omg Christine and Collin did a fantastic job decluttering. Mary is have a great time shopping in the living room 😂 The space in the kitchen is unreal. It looks beautiful and cosy. I’m looking forward to seeing it totally sorted. April congratulations on the book. I’m absolutely delighted for you. Have a great week everyone. Mary, Joes wife 🙇♀️👏💪👍🙏💐🐕🦺
OMG - it's the 1st time I've ever known anyone to have a measuring spoon collection. With that many, it's a collection! They got rid of a lot! It looks so much better, more room for prep, feels calmer. It's actually a really cute kitchen!
@@LeaSonnenscheinTrier a sleeve for cold cans that keeps them cold… usually beer and soda. They were the flat foam looking things. She had a lot of them.
Can this extend from the planned spaces to the whole house like Dani’s declutter did? I love this couple already and don’t want this series to end. And as a mom of young kids who got into decluttering when I became a parent, the less stuff to manage, the better !!
@@SpaceMakerMethod that is fantastic news!! It’s amazing how easily decluttering seems to come to them right from the start. I’ve definitely needed multiple rounds in my space. And their calmness and support of each other is so sweet. You all working together is so inspiring!
The next stop for April may need to be Mary’s house. Hahaha! As someone who likes to bake, I keep two sets of measuring spoons and two sets of measuring cups. It will be enough.
I looooove this series! The teamwork, the cute couple, the awesome mom and then April like a fairy godmother, making the kitchen so cozy. Great job, everyone! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
For future clearing out of drawers, I would suggest having a basket/bin/box handy to load up vs using hands and multiple trips! Love the questions asked by all when sorting!!
Such a fun declutter. You all work so well together and make instant decisions. Kudos. There will be fun times and great memories to be made in that kitchen
I would suggest down the road getting all breakables completely out of reach once baby girl starts crawling and pulling up on stuff. ❤️ I absolutely love this couples style.
That was a really good day of decluttering. Can't believe how many measuring spoons and cups they had. I have one of each and never need a second version. We all acquire loads of random basins, bowls and things with lost lids over time. I would say we probably all need to do this to our kitchens every couple of years. As a hot person though I am bemused by the number of blankets everyone seems to want cluttering up their homes. We live in centrally heated houses now, we have never needed a blanket less, and yet they are everywhere! And cushions come a close second. First thing I do when I sit down is chuck the cushions on the floor. I have very few. I don't know how to sit down with them in the way. I love that you have helped them create a living area, a dining area and a usable kitchen. We all need our homes to flow and not be overwhelming.
Wow it's astonishing what was squirreled away in there that they didn't use or need! So much better now and looking forward to part 2 😃. I have a tiny kitchen so I have to be BRUTAL with one in one out.
This couple truly is inspiring me to just let go of my things. So i can live my best life with no clutter. Such a fun video to watch as always April! ❤😊
I'm with Colin. Whenever I bake I always use so many measuring spoons. I'll forget to do all my dry stuff before the wet, or I'll be on autopilot and immediately throw a measuring spoon in the sink and then I can't use it because it's dirty.
My sink always has hot, soapy water in it while I’m cooking or baking,so even if I need a measuring cup or spoon again, it’s just a quick rinse and reuse!🙌🏻
they are so so awesome!!! i love this couple! i wish that the big blue cabinet with dog stuff in it could be moved over to the right and the dog food bins could be put on the left side of it. that cabinet would look so good if it had space to breathe! it may be built in. but if not 👀
April you are like a good people finder. All these people seem very emotional intelligent and really self aware. I just love seeing all of these interactions with healthy people making healthy decisions.
You guys are amazing, kitchens are hard. If your serving ware is in the basement will you forget about it? I have a small kitchen with no space for the pretty plates etc, I got a medium sized cupboard in my dining room for it, that also became my boundary for how much I could have
I love how much respect they have for each other's things, and how now that they're decluttering they are building a sense of shared items and space. Love this :)
I'm just loving this organizational baby getting ready for baby episodes. I just love how the mom and dad work so well together and the mom is there to help. This is awesome and to see the transformation already. I can breathe easier. LOL
Wow, those two did such a good job! They clearly have their decluttering undies on. So respectful towards each other but also both agreeable to get rid of stuff. It was a joy watching and ended astonishingly fast. Can't wait for next Sunday.
The measuring spoons 😂 These three are wonderful people. Nobody's judging, lamenting or pointing fingers about who bought duplicates (like I would be doing: my husband can't find anything so he buys new items all the time...😅). They are cheering, laughing and cracking jokes while moving on and taking decisions. ❤🎉 Fantastic inspiration 😊
If they access their car from the kitchen or if that is the main door, then the back area of the kitchen is the perfect spot for the stroller and keeping a diaper bag, etc. I would think of it more as a functional spot now and almost a mudroom. Of course this isn't relevant if it only accesses the backyard and isn't a main entrance.
What is considered a small kitchen in the states is so different from europe 😂 that kitchen from an european viewpoint is HUGE and I probably wouldn't be able to fill even half of it 😂😂
This video is phenomenal!! ❤ It made me feel so happy for this growing family. Wow! This is my dream kitchen with the brick! They have so much nice stuff, and now they can properly use it .
I've ordered my book, it's coming Wednesday. it's not because I'm stressing over my stuff, it's because I love your channel xx and I do need advice for some areas. thanks April
Another suggestion: Take the measuring cups and spoons off of the jump rings and hang them individually on the back of the cabinet door above your prep surface. That way you can just grab the size you need instead of struggling with the whole set at once. I even wrote the size of each cup on the bottom with a big fat Sharpie so I can grab the correct size quickly. You can also hang other bulky things like citrus reamers and graters this way. It really helps if you have limited drawer space.
At 12:29, those colorful glasses will also make awesome dessert glasses,(puddings, jellos, ice cream, sorbets, etc.) also for shrimp cocktail, appetizers, etc.🙌🏻
What's really striking is that since donating all the excess, this nice couple now has cabinets that perfectly and beautifully fit all their essentials. They will no longer feel overwhelmed or struggle to find the things they need to use for that days mealprep. Awesome! I'm actually going to go do the same to my kitchen this week. Feeling inspired for sure!
There are silicone lid replacements that are a softer silicone that doesn’t crack like those. I found mine on Amazon and they are the teal blue color too.
I used to have hosting kits. Wine glasses, plates, that I stored in the garage. That way I could just run them thru the dishwasher and set them out for the party. 🎈 🎉. It was great. Now I’m old. No parties. 😢
@@susanrikimaru6630 Thanks! You can hit up your local thrift store or if a local restaurant supply allows shoppers in that could work too. Ours did during the pandemic and we got great stuff there.
There are two schools of thought. You're either a store the bowl with the lid on person or you're a stack the nesting bowls and store the lids beside them. I'm a nester (there are no wrong ways, you do you). The cabinet with the bowls with the lids on is both beautiful and making my teeth itch. I so want to take all the lids off, nest them, gain a shelf, and then put the cookbooks there. But it IS a lovely display of stored air, lol.
I would love to remove the high bar behind the stove, with a low table where I could put a high chair to feed the new baby confortabily. I think it would be super functional and would also visually expand the entire space.
What a super satisfying kitchen declutter to watch! The fifty plus minutes wasn't long enough. I'll be back next Sunday. I appreciate how well Christine and Collen worked together to communicate their preferences on everything. It looks fabulous. I love that Mary is helping now to ease the future parents start as new parents.
I have unhooked all my measuring spoons (2 sets metal) and put them in a small utensil holder by the large utensil holder on the counter. It has been life changing. I also get to enjoy the utensil holders that I picked and like seeing
Kitchens I find can be a bad place for clutter accumulation, especially when you have electronic devices for every type of cooking (when you really only need a cooker), and the massive number of plastic food storage boxes. Sometimes electronic devices can be useful, but they can also be a nuisance if you don't use them often and need somewhere to store it. I also find that kitchens should be one of the least cluttered areas of your home because you need to be able to clean it easily on a regular basis.
What an amazing difference in the kitchen. They did such an awesome job letting things go. So inspiring. I need to do the same thing with my small kitchen.

The baby is gonna love that vase cabinet when he/she starts walking!
What is considered a small kitchen in the states is so different from europe 😂 that kitchen from an european viewpoint is HUGE and I probably wouldn't be able to fill even half of it 😂😂
YAY!!! They are such beautiful people.
It's a good one!
This video is phenomenal!! ❤ It made me feel so happy for this growing family. Wow! This is my dream kitchen with the brick! They have so much nice stuff, and now they can properly use it .
They decluttered a lot of items!! Their Kitchen is SO cute!! Great job!!
I've ordered my book, it's coming Wednesday. it's not because I'm stressing over my stuff, it's because I love your channel xx and I do need advice for some areas. thanks April
Thank you so much 😊❤️ I hope you love it.
I am loving this series, I love how the couple is doing it together. So much STUFF gone!!
Mary was the nicest helper
No parties. 😢
What a great idea!
@@susanrikimaru6630 Thanks! You can hit up your local thrift store or if a local restaurant supply allows shoppers in that could work too. Ours did during the pandemic and we got great stuff there.
I love this couple and how they work together. They are gonna be great parents if they work like this so we'll.
Great job. Loved that they were able to get rid of that extra shelf!
Wow… fantastic! You guys were ruthless! And such great communication between C&C!
I had an omega juicer I was using pretty often but decided I prefer smoothies in my vitamix too so I sold the juicer 💚
