How Randi can comprehend the gearing on this these old robots is incredible. Randi could have been a watchmaker in a different time.
Sear's catalog 1980's a time I miss.😢
Oh yeah.... I used to go page by page and pick what I would get from each page.
Yep. A true dream land for us Gen X kiddo’s.
@@ikeyschultz4969 ........The Sears catalog goes back A LOT further than that.
Bravo, you did it again! (we all knew you would).
Thank you
Very nice job.
Thank you
Very fun. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good job is working like new again, you got an amazing collection of robots behind you😍😍.
Thank you 🤗
17:38 I could just imagine it casually pouring the cut out onto the floor. 😆 Lol.
I guess that's how the tray got dirty.
I owned two of these robots once. One I got at a house sale and the other I got at a flea market. Both had issues with the arm that operated. Both were flipped several years ago.
I wish they would re release this thing so I can get one. I was like 8 years old when it came out. It was expensive back then even.
Took me 38 years to get one.
Wow! I've never owned one of these, I had no idea that they had that level of functionality, being able to allow selection of a drink and pouring it.
You can record your movements and it can repeat it.
If at first you don't succeed, tray, tray again.😁
Boy does he need some solid state electronics for some stuff.
Wow, imagine being an assembly line worker that had to put one of those together... Talk about a frazzling job with all those springy bits flying all over the place. >_
This one really isn't too hard, just a lot. Other Tomy stuff is really hard.
Omnibot cool 😁👍
Talk about stretching the cost of a lone motor as far as it can go with clutches & gearboxes. Must have been fun to clean the spills.
Yeah really. It was probably done at that point.
I wish Randi was my neighbor
Randy, not sure why it's necessary for the cup to be risen. Looks like the claw can grip the cup without that.
Depends which cup you use. Some might need to be.
Ironically I just purchased an Omnibot 2000, an Omnibot, and a Hearoid. All NIB (arrived today!). Not sure if I’ll open them. If I do, and they need work, then I know who I will contact.
Did you get to speak to Mr. Cline during this process?
Only through email.
Ok, just wondered. It's a cool thing to get to do work for somebody famous and even cooler if you get to meet with them. Hopw he was happy with all the work you put it. It looks great. I've wanted one of these since I first saw it in a Christmas catalog back in the 80s.
he serves drinks pretty slow.
So how many more accesories are there to fix?
Just the tray.
That sounds like a battery guzzler. I had one of those types of robots back then, can't remember which one for some reason, none of the ones I looked at online look familiar. This seems like a toy that would have bored me after 1-3 days. Did anyone have one and actually get a lot of use out of it?
It has a giant rechargeable battery.
Randi, I have a Robie Sr. that is cosmetically in perfect condition. It just doesn't work. Do you take on projects for people? I have no problem paying you to fix it. Just would like to get it up and running. Thanks--Justin
You're like the millionth person to ask. I just don't have the time. Sorry. I can help out with any questions, but that's about it.
@@RandiRain , thanks for the response and I understand. I really enjoy your channel. Blessings...J
Is it possible to speed up the motor? Because it's way too slow
If you do that it could become sentient and take over the world.
It's sad nobody makes a basic 2024 version of this for sale. I'm sure plenty of people would buy it.
If they cost as much as these did in 1980s money, they would probably sell about the same. Only the rich spoiled kids got them.
I can't imagine that anyone ever used that serving function in a real-life setting. So much over-engineering for such a mundane activity.
In the end, it is just a toy. A very expensive toy.
