"We'll talk about that later" honestly the most common quote of the fate franchise. Also this is my most anticipated iceberg of yours yet. Awesome job once again.
I mean, you can also just make it very very simple and say it all in a single word. "Homunculus". And then refuse to elaborate because those know, know.
This might not become your most popular iceberg, but personally, I'm very glad you made it! I love this franchise. Thanks for taking this VERY deep dive for us!
I was thinking about a Fate Series iceberg for the past two days and this popped up. As a Fate fan for a very long time I am happy that you covered the iceberg. Thank you for the video and keep the amazing work :)
Well, it's preserving _your_ humanity, at the cost of others. As some have said, it's a straight up war, you are eradicating others for your own chance to survive.
Neko Arc has transcended beyond the franchise and went from being funny joke character to thicc shortstack gremlin, and I wouldnt have it any other way
1:08:12 Slight correction here since the release of FGO's chapter now has a (kinda) playable version of NPC Beast U-Olga with unique skills and battle animations. This is written right before the Lostbelt 7 part 2 live stream so I'm unsure about her being summonable in the near future. However, one of the FGO Arcade exclusive Servants is actually an immature version of Beast VI/S named Draco, who you could get for free for completing the story (I'm unsure if I missed you saying this part though 😅). It's a great and informative video nonetheless! I'm surprised there was a spin-off featuring Kuzuki's daughter this down in the Iceberg 😮
I didn’t expect a Fate iceberg from you, but I’m not complaining. I’m definitely watching this later and going to enjoy it, just like the other iceberg videos I’ve seen from you
I wanted to point out that Hercules is also insanely qualified as a servant, capable of being summoned as every standard servant class excluding caster. It's just that he's only ever been summoned as Berserker, while Arturia, as the series main mascot, gets every appearance they can think of.
2 little fun facts regarding the Luvia & Sakura's wrestler timeline (or I guess just the Tohsakas and Edelfelts): -Rin & Sakura are cousins to Luvia: Their mothers were sisters. -Sakura being adopted into the Edelfelts makes more (ethical) sense than giving her away to the Matous, as they are directly related.
Enjoyed this video. As a massive fate fan, I loved this iceberg in one afternoon. Although it probably didnt do as well as the rest, I hope it gives some consolation that you've made a bunch of us really grateful for an in-depth deep dive into franchise that many of us probably don't know either. Subbed!!
I'm actually surprised you didn't get anything major wrong with this vid as I expected when you announced the video in your update. Of course there's small mistakes and you could have explained some stuff better but good job, especially with how much Fate content there is outhere. Although I would have preferred if you made the iceberg be more like ur DC/Marvel icebergs where they go in order of popularity to obscure stuff while excluding the obvious things like "Oh hey, there's batman movies." For example Its pretty weird how some of the FGO characters that completely dominate the internet in popularity are not in tier 1. Like I think every single weeb alive has seen an image of Jeanne Alter so its weird not seeing her being explained first.
Man even with a topic I originally had little interest in, you find all these neat factoids and histories and put such a good spin on them. Honestly, your presentation style alone is really good.
I don’t know much about the fate franchise besides the characters since they get memed a whole bunch. But my god, does it sound complicated to even put into an Iceberg and organize everything in a manner that explains the full context of the entry Awesome job🔥🔥
Hey Gray is implied to be related to Arthur but not as a descendant, she is heavily implied to be a descendant of Morgan, arthur's sister and and twin and she used her magecraft on her own children
It's so funny you mentioned watching icebergs on franchises you know nothing about because I initially discovered your channel watching your Eva iceberg. A franchise I knew absolutely nothing about.
Or shirou, or cu chulainn, or einherjar, or any of the other pronounciations. Or the fact that he kept saying "magic girl" instead of magical girl, which is weird
I was really hoping for a dedicated entry on Notes. I have a weird fascination for its very different setting and lore, and I think it’s quite obscure, being so seemingly disconnected from everything else in the Nasuverse.
In contrast, I believe it’s the most connected to everything else in the Nasuverse, as the world of Notes is the dead end that humanity in all of the series reach if they keep polluting the environment. The world of Fate/Extra, Fate/Requiem and even Prisma Illya are getting there pretty fast.
Ok so adding onto the F/GO Arcade stuff, outside of it being a different timeline so some characters are different stuff like Jacques de Molay being male, the reason why there are so much story different actually ties to the fact that there's no cutscenes in the early singularities, because unlike the mobile game counterpart, Arcade Ritsuka basically speedruns the fucking singularities which is why he got to Jeruselum before Camelot took over.
Now THIS is what I need in my life!(been waiting for one in general since your 1st Transformers iceberg) Although a fate iceberg did exist before....it was practically nothing(compared to this anyway.) And I'm glad a better now exists.
Another very strange detail that (at the point I'm at of the video) you haven't mentioned, Ilya's mother, Irisviel (yeah, the family really isn't very creative with names) was, due to being a humunculus, younger in fate/zero than Ilya is in stay/night.
The part about the servants having different personalities when summoned as different classes is kind of true but not really. Some servants' alternate class is just Grand Order being grand Order and giving the same servant different clothes, such as Normal Saber Artoria and Archer Artoria or Saber Artoria Alter and Rider Artoria Alter. They are in everyway but class and gameplay, just the same person. Then there are servant who's the same person but at different points in time. Archer Gilgamesh is implied to be a Gilgamesh who is much younger and haven't gotten the existential dread of death from seeing his best friend Enkidu die yet, while Caster Gilgamesh is explicitly Gilgamesh after going through his journey (and failure) to gain immortality. Same thing with Normal Saber Artoria and Lily who are Artoria after and before she became King of Camelot respectively. Then there's just, people who are technically the same people, but not actually. Saber Artoria, Lancer Artoria, Caster Artoria and Mysterious Heroine X are all separate people who despite looking the same and having the same True Name are completely different people from wildly different timeline and personality. Why are they like this? Because slapping Artoria's face onto servants literally prints typemoon money, just look at Nero and Okita. However there are very few more special cases like this such as normal Archer Nobunaga and Demon King Nobunaga or the Goddess Ishtar and the 4 different Space Ishtars that was just melded into one playable character in Fate/GO. So yeah, like most things in Fate/, shits complicated. Edit: I forgot to mention the biggest one! Berserker! Servants manifested as Berserker often has a pretty different personality (usually exaggerated) compared to their normal self. Most prominently seen with Saber and Berserker Lancelot who are supposed to be the same person around the same time frame. Berserker Lancelot just has his hatred for Artoria exaggerated due to the Berserker Class Skill madness enhancement. There are also sometimes where external reason causes Servants to have a different personality from their "normal" self, rn the only servant like that I can think of is Rider Blackbeard in F/GO who due to time fuckery and general fate weirdness, became a weeb in the afterlife and thus acts like a weeb when summonsed. However normally, he would be closer to the cut throat and terrifying pirate captain from the legends.
On the topic of Gender Swap, actualy most genderbend fate servants was always that Gender when they were still alive, But for some reason or another they were remembered as Male by History The case that male actually genderbended to female are surprisingly not that much, And most of them is through possessed female body
1:09:17 They still didn't left the TYPE-MOON franchise though. In Summer 2023 ufotable will release Witch on Holy Night movie, which is one of the five early major visual novels in the TYPE-MOON franchise.
Im kinda sad this icberg didnt go over the "unnamed female servant" in Fate/Requiem Who, going of of description, is 100% the Rainbow Serpant from Australian native folklore
Funny thing there actually a male version of Mordred in the prototype universe that appears in the drama cd with a voice who apparently yandere to Arthur
Hey! Great content as always! I’ve been thinking a lot about whats left to make icebergs about (sense you’ve covered nearly all the topics I’ve really wanted to see now). I believe I’ve thought of something good however. In your Lego iceberg you referenced how old you were and it turns out we are about the same age, so I’m hoping you’ll share a similar interest in these topics. I’m thinking an Animal Planet or History Channel iceberg could potentially be very interesting? I have really found memories of the programs that aired in the 90s and early 2000s, the decline of the channels is also pretty interesting to me. I might be alone in this, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to mention. Keep up the incredible work! No pressure to do anything with this either btw lol
So, I ended up watching this iceberg specifically because I’m not a Fate fan, but instead a small-time history and mythology nerd. I just wanted to see exactly how insane this franchise could be, since my first exposure was seeing the Mad Emperor Nero, who infamously played his lute as the city of Rome literally burned around him, as a highly popular waifu a few years back and just thinking “Oh, Japan…” Needless to say, I had no idea how much of a rabbit hole the Fate franchise was until watching this iceberg video.
Lol I fucking love Nero but also she could have a version that’s more historically accurate because she can be summoned as a rider though we’ve never seen this in any game, anime or visual novel she says it’s her most powerful class so it could have her be like how she is in real life history
So this is not related to the vid, but I want to let you know that I watched Evangelion because of you. Your icebergs are just so good that I wanted to watch the source material first to fully enjoy your vid. So im glad that you are still doing these even if its stuff I don't know about. Keep on rocking dude!
The movie "Oath Under Snow" is really good . Not a lot of people have watched it But those who have , have pretty much universally praised it . Probably because its a prequel to the magical girl spin off , but you dont need to know , enything about the "Main Series" to enjoy it (And i would say you would enjoy it more if you don't or if you masochistically watch all the way through) Besides the main twist of taking on the powers of the servants instead of summoning them . Instead of Gil , he gets to summon himself and partially posses the one using his card .
Honestly some of the best fate animes out there have to be Fate/Zero, Oath Undersnow, Lord El Melloi case files and of course the absolute demonic front Babylonia and the Heaven Feel movies Also love how Waver (Lord El Melloi II) dressed as the AVGN in that one Light novel chapter
I've been wanting to get into Fate forever. My only knowledge comes from Grand Order. When I heard you were doing one, I got really excited for it. Love your work as always.
there’s actually one final class you missed known as the voyager class named after the foreigner servant voyager who is currently the only known servant that’s also qualified to be part of the voyager class
Look I know nothing about this topic but I'm gonna watch this anyway because I love your iceberg videos and I also love diving deep into things that I have no connection to whatsoever
The guy who said Japan hates Dahut is true because Drake is very loved in JP and they hated her depiction in Agartha they also dislike many servants that westerners like, some examples are Ereshkigal,Quetz,& many other goddess servants while some of their all time favorites are Qin Liangyu & Murasaki. Megalos can't be Hercules Alter because his alter form is Avenger Alcides from Strange Fake plus servants can't have different alter forms(Artoria being the only exception because she's Artoria) In Lost Einherjar the other servants are Caster Baba Yaga & a new Assassin Hassan that has yet to be revealed to which of the 19 they are. they have yet to reveal Saber and their partner. also Rider Sinfjötli is Aslaugs uncle but they never met each other in life
What about the Whatever tier shit that's going on Lostbelt 7? Like U-Olga Marie, Tsukihime Dinosaurs, Kukulkan, Daybit's Goal, ORT, 7 Alien Apostles and Malisbury Animusphere goal?
dont worry, its not that the fate series is "complicated" as you said but rather cause the series doesnt make any lick of sense, the author just goes willy nilly with the plot focusing on whatever idea he has at the time while disregarding previous events on his whimsy, while its true that some arcs like zero and unlimited blade works and maybe kaleid narrative wise make the most sense that is only by chance and not intentional, the series itself is based on a game after all with multiple endings depending on which character you play. trying to figure out the fate series is like trying to draw water from a rock, the latter btw is much more plausible than the prior.
I actually didn't know you had mentioned doing a fate iceberg before so this was a welcome surprise for me, although it might not be a popular video for you to make you will at least have the admiration of a lot of fate and type moon fans. I'd day although a lot of your pronunciations were off you definitely did fate justice, and the only errors you made are really nitpicky things, like in terms of the type moon canon Tsukihime and Fate do take place in the same continuity with the versions of those characters being the same when they cameo, it's just that the continuity is broken into different timelines through the routes. Also for first order not being referenced by the other grand order movies, it's pretty much only because its practically a perfect adaptation of the first singularity that it doesn't need to be referenced. Also Chevalier D'eon being "genderfluid" is a bit more literal, he's actually able to switch between male and female bodies at will, but he is typically depicted in a male body, like in the Argartha singularity. There were also things on this iceberg I wasn't aware of, like Benkei, Kintoki, David, and Georgios originally being designed for apocrypha, I had assumed they were created for grand order. Also the waver being likely gay or bi is something I've not come across and had assumed he was straight (funnily enough even a lot of yaoi doujins assume him straight, at least at the start of the book) but it seems most of those details orignate from case files which I've only seen the anime series for. Also I was surprised gudaguda and fate/redline weren't mentioned even though elements of it were mentioned in other entries.
Actually, they retconned Tsukihime and Fate taking place in the same world a couple years back. FGO had developed and changed the setting so much that it necessitated it.
I know the disclaimer at the start, but I found it funny that one the things you mispronounced was El Melloi as El Melloe, like that's not even Japanese my guy.
47:40 I'm guessing this is because of the success of Melty Blood, and it basically becoming the default Nasuverse fighting game series for the franchise, so whenever French Bread and Type-Moon feel like it, they can dump Fate characters in there with this and that excuse, and then call it a day. Still a shame though, I agree.
@@Pigpen_YT it's relevant because that's what I see more posted around Fate social media, not her being 18 , an iceberg is based on outside perceptions, if that's what's talked about, it's the primary aspect of what is meant
So I think that Archer Gil is right after losing Enkidu, but before his death. The Caster Gil is more likely towards the end of his legend, whereas Gil is a kind king after losing his chance of immortality, so he did right by his people.
I could have missed this, it is 2 hours long, but I'm kinda surprised you didn't bring up the existence of the Atlas Insistute and more specifically Black Barrel when talking about ways a servant can be killed.
I think that one of the reasons why the fate stay night novel won't ever be translated officially is because it's just so damn word dense, it's literally 50-80 hours of just reading and since the Fandom has already done the heavy lifting no publisher is gonna bother, think about it. Why risk making a translation from scratch, which will be undoubtedly be compared to the fan one and risk being shot down, so now you wasted money on a ip which is disliked and won't give you any financial benefits.

Thank you for the video and keep the amazing work :)
Playing the lostbels in FGO gets really dark real fast, goes way beyond preserving humanity
Well, it's preserving _your_ humanity, at the cost of others.
As some have said, it's a straight up war, you are eradicating others for your own chance to survive.
You go from hero of your story to straight up villain in the story of others. Honestly, it's a great change of pace.
Trying to fight for your own dead timeline, and killing all other possibilities for the slightest chance you could do anything about it
Neko Arc has transcended beyond the franchise and went from being funny joke character to thicc shortstack gremlin, and I wouldnt have it any other way

Tsukihime is pronounced: tsu-kee-he-meh
Thank you, I totally loved your fate Iceberg video 😎
The way you pronounce tsukihime made me question my sanity. Great video tho =))
Look I know nothing about this topic but I'm gonna watch this anyway because I love your iceberg videos and I also love diving deep into things that I have no connection to whatsoever
I think the tldr for the beginning of the video is "its complicated well get to it later"
This a treat from the goat right here
The guy who said Japan hates Dahut is true because Drake is very loved in JP and they hated her depiction in Agartha they also dislike many servants that westerners like, some examples are Ereshkigal,Quetz,& many other goddess servants while some of their all time favorites are Qin Liangyu & Murasaki.
Megalos can't be Hercules Alter because his alter form is Avenger Alcides from Strange Fake plus servants can't have different alter forms(Artoria being the only exception because she's Artoria)
In Lost Einherjar the other servants are Caster Baba Yaga & a new Assassin Hassan that has yet to be revealed to which of the 19 they are. they have yet to reveal Saber and their partner. also Rider Sinfjötli is Aslaugs uncle but they never met each other in life
The way he say tsukihime kills me every time
I have never heard of this franchise LEETS GOO
Bruh your loss

What about the Whatever tier shit that's going on Lostbelt 7? Like U-Olga Marie, Tsukihime Dinosaurs, Kukulkan, Daybit's Goal, ORT, 7 Alien Apostles and Malisbury Animusphere goal?
Gonna have to remake this boss, the English release just hit
Nice video dude. Actually learned some things.
A video about Fate and almost 2 hours long?
*I expected nothing less.*
Sader is officially my spirit animal now
Regarding Jesus is Fate it was stated by Natsu that if he were to be summoned it would kick start Armagedon from bible.
'I can't imagine spending $30 on a mobile game'
So you're just looking to chug a whole pitcher of Assassinade, is that it

@@Pigpen_YT have at thee, ye slanderous hogg!
dont worry, its not that the fate series is "complicated" as you said but rather cause the series doesnt make any lick of sense, the author just goes willy nilly with the plot focusing on whatever idea he has at the time while disregarding previous events on his whimsy, while its true that some arcs like zero and unlimited blade works and maybe kaleid narrative wise make the most sense that is only by chance and not intentional, the series itself is based on a game after all with multiple endings depending on which character you play.
trying to figure out the fate series is like trying to draw water from a rock, the latter btw is much more plausible than the prior.
Also, they referenced the cut apocrypha servants in FGO, during the collab event with apocrypha with a challenge quest as the "achromatic" faction.
the best part of the whole video is hearing my mans say " Tsukihaymm " every single time
You need to watch Prisma Illya, the fights are actually some of the best in the series.
Hearing Tsukihime pronounced as "Sookihaym" made me laugh like a loon
Well I've found my obsession for the month, thanks pigpen
I know the disclaimer at the start, but I found it funny that one the things you mispronounced was El Melloi as El Melloe, like that's not even Japanese my guy.
Do I know literally anything about the Fate series, nope.
I’m still gonna watch a nearly 2 hour iceberg video on it anyway though
47:40 I'm guessing this is because of the success of Melty Blood, and it basically becoming the default Nasuverse fighting game series for the franchise, so whenever French Bread and Type-Moon feel like it, they can dump Fate characters in there with this and that excuse, and then call it a day. Still a shame though, I agree.

Mega spoilers for Lostbelt but, this aged so poorly that we got to play as U Olga Marie before this video came out.
Thanks for doing something obscure! could you do an assassins creed iceberg?
Aye pigpen is back with another iceberg woo hoo I love these videos
Nice video dude and yeah Fate is kinda complex.
You missed a big part about Illya's age. She has a different age in the Prillya verse when she should be the same age in Stay Night.
I didn’t mention it because it’s not really relevant. That’s an entirely different continuity
@@Pigpen_YT it's relevant because that's what I see more posted around Fate social media, not her being 18 , an iceberg is based on outside perceptions, if that's what's talked about, it's the primary aspect of what is meant
A 2hr explanation isnt enough
Because its hell we all know
So I think that Archer Gil is right after losing Enkidu, but before his death.
