Hello Guys! I kinda mumbled throughout my video, but again check out and subscribe to “Out of the basement” w Nate and Justin. Very honored to be on their stream and this subject was bro if by on by the questions from the participants.
I consider myself lucky to have found such a thorough explanation from a personality that obviously loves to teach. I look forward to watching more content and wish you luck on your projects.
Thank you so much. It is comments like this that made me want to do this channel. I’m just a guy who’s also figuring things out as I go along. Glad you find it helpful!
Thanks for covering this. Although I’ve learned these nuances through personal experience, it’s nice to have it on your channel for those just starting to customize.I can vouch for everything Kabashed has mentioned here!
Dude, You dont know How much this helped me, I've been thinking of buying Knock off 2020 mold clones And by seeing other customizers a bunch of them dissasemble their figures, but Everytime I ask... they use the original figures, so I was always wondering if it was possible to heat a bootleg one, I've always heard they're Hard plastic, but this actually helped me, well, Im still kind of Afraid of separathing arms and elbows, But as long as I can separate the Legs, the job becomes a little bit more easier, Thank You 💙💙
Very thorough look at the different body types! The only Black Series Clone I've had for years has been Rex, but I just ordered five of the 2020 Bootleg. I've been resin-printing some parts for customs I plan to do with them and I am really excited! Great video!
@@ka-bashedfigures834 what Ive done is I took a few 212th apart and customized them, soich easier than those damn pins. Lol. Still need to get some AliExpress clones. 👍
@@ka-bashedfigures834 thank you I do have a question about them. Is there anything you do for the smell? It's quite strong after a few days it's lessened but I was wondering if there's anything that would help.
@@rp2k452 you mean the smell after you just paint them or the smell that comes with the bootleg figures? I mention the latter is because some bootlegs do come with a pungent sour smell. If it is about the bootleg factory smell, I find after I paint them the paints will cover up the smell. As for if you mean after you paint any figure and it is the paint that smells, I don’t find the same issue, but perhaps my nose is not very sensitive. Or if it is your apartment that smells after spray painting, make sure you spray with adequate ventilation and you wear and painters breathing mask. Hope one of these answers your question!
@@ka-bashedfigures834 I was referring to the factory smell it was pretty strong right out of the package but I used some disinfectant wipes and an odor removing spray to mostly get rid of the plastic smell. Thank you though.
You mean the stormtrooper? I asked myself that for a long time also, since these updates came out at the same time. But if they go with Rex/Bly shoulders I’ll be super happy too.
@@ka-bashedfigures834 I’ve been trying to sandwich the ring and tab between the butterfly and arm pin. Then adding the bly/Rex shoulder pads, awesome videos tho dude!
Great video Kabash! I am currently trying to put my purge troopers Kama Skirt for my Bad Batch Shock trooper. I see you removed Wolffe’s Kama but it has been so painful trying to remove the torso from the hips as you said it’s near impossible. Any recommendations for transferring the Kama without damage?
Yeah this is a tough one! For Wolfe I think I just forced it and pulled it downwards. But I try to do the same for the purge trooper phase ii armor (the new figure) and cannot do it without cutting the Kama. Another solution is to use the custom ones John Walker produces. It’s in soft plastic. I will come out with a video on this tomorrow and you can see for yourself. Hope this helps!
I’ve actually used lacquer on abs , Tamiya primer and felt tacky . 🤷♀️ putting the figure back together is very hard ,lol. My fear is detailing the lines on the cheeks (Bly) , look hard to paint .
Sometimes to paint details just take time and use masking strips, then spray paint. As for tacky, you mean you are getting sticky paint? That stuff is tricky. I dealt with that recently.
As far as I can tell, the bootlegs for the 2020 mold is virtually identical to the official release. Main difference is the plastics have a funky smell to it (probably a different chemical composition), and the butterfly joints are a bit loose. Hope that helps!

Great idea for a video - very comprehensive. Will definitely use this for future reference. Thanks!

Hoestly ddnt think I'd find a video like this, thank you so much, you should do a recap including the 2023 body with removable helmets.

Thank you! If I have to leave the house and only take one figure w me, that’ll be Rex. 😎
I love working on the new clone body all day long. Awesome video. 👍
Thanks Mitch! Yeah the new mold is easy to work with. I like.

Thank you I enjoyed that

Hey man, how do you paint the helmets? In particular the visor and frown. It’s so difficult to keep the corners inside the visor white !
Is there a way to implement the new ring and tab for shoulder pads on the 2020 mold? Similar to the hunter mold?

awesome comparison, just wondering, are there any height/size difference between both types of bootlegs to their original counterparts
