    This movie and the soundtrack in 96 changed my teenage life. Just a massive film. Harris, Connery, Cage, Biehn, Forsythe, Tony Todd?? Hans Zimmer?? Wooooah.

    I love the soundtrack of this movie, Hans Zimmer being Hans Zimmer, with his ability to convert any movie into something epic, the shower scene with the Seal team massacre is pure gold, Michael Biehn delivered a powerful performance, overall, a surprisingly good movie by Michael Bay, too bad he fell into melodrama and visual effects after that.

    it is cool they show the "mines" under Alcatraz cause the actual prison was built on top of US Civil War-era tunnels that used a lot of old school tracks and pulley systems to transfer ammo and large amounts of food and drink on mine style carts on those tracks.

    Sean Connery's request for warm water for several days could have easily sprouted some serious bugs, - like legionella and killed a bunch of people , himself included of course.
    Using glass containers for chemical agents inside projectiles and bombs, goes all the way back to WW1.

    The real soldiers acting as michael bein's seal team, were probably excited to work with him. I love how humble he is about how he isn't a real soldier. But who wouldn't want to work with corporal hicks/kyle reese?

    I didn't particularly like the car chase, because of the zoom-in's, but what sticks out most for me about The Rock is that Hummel isn't the last villain to die. When this movie came out, the headline of the review in one of my local papers credited Nicholas Cage for distinguishing the movie, but I think it's Ed Harris, plus the fact that Hummel isn't a moustache-twirling villain.

    • @wulozhero6684
      @wulozhero6684 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's because, up until this point Nic Cage didn't have big budget action movie cred. Pretty much ever actor in this movie had action movie cred but him. I remember when news of this movie first broke (cast, plot release date) a lot of people commented on how out of place he felt compared to the rest of the cast. His performance was stand out because it was unexpected. This role was just another day at the office for Ed Harris as far as most were concerned.

    • @flightofthebumblebee9529
      @flightofthebumblebee9529 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hummel was actually very humbled by what John Mason tells him, calling him a fucking lunatic who is doing nothing good. This broke him down and made him realize there is no way he would actually kill all those people and their mission would likely fail. Hummel ends up actually dying while trying to stop the bad guys and regretting what he did. Meanwhile Danny Tanner and Uncle Joey and Uncle Jesse and the girls remained safe. RIP Bob Saget.

    "Basically created a giant incubator for germs" You just cannot make that shit up. That's fuckin' bonkers! And the cabin thing haha pure gold 😆😂🤣
    And because of his fame status, they just bent over and gave him exactly what he wanted without question. Reminds me of those bits at the film studio on the film Analyze This 😛

    Regarding the Michael Bay comment about the spinning gears and flame blasts in the furnace at 8:14, it reminds me an awful lot of the Ben Affleck quote from the Armageddon commentary track. He told me to shut the fuck up. So that was the end of that conversation.")

    When I was a kid my dad loved Bond movies, and the Connery Bond especially. So when this movie came out he was convinced it was a secret Bond movie. Like he was a "The Rock" truther, swore up and down that it connected with the last legit Bond movie Connery did and that they couldn't get the rights so they named it something else to get away with it. He actually wanted Nick Cage to be the next Bond.

    The Story about Connery having a Cabin on Alcatraz built so he wouldn't have to take the Boat every Day is false. I know, because I picked him up at his Hotel every morning, took the Boat with him and dropped him off at his Hotel after shooting was done. He came to the wrap party in SF, hung out with the whole crew and danced with every Girl from the Crew that asked him, even the lowest PA. No Diva there.

    Apropos scientists: my wife is a scientist who lifts weights and is a long-distance bicyclist. One of her advisors had been the captain of the US Olympic tae kwon do team. Another one of her advisors was a mountain climber. She has peers who were scholarship-awarded freestyle wrestlers and marathoners and cross-country skiers. The idea that scientists are physically nerdy is just... like, untrue, really untrue. I can't think of any group of people with sedentary jobs who take fitness more seriously than scientists. (I believe this is because they are very data-driven and know that exercise is one of the ways to stay happy and healthy. The research is overwhelming, after all.)

    U.S. Army = Soldiers
    U.S. Air Force = Airmen
    U.S. Navy = Sailors
    U.S. Marine Corps = Marines
    U.S. Military = Troops
    Sorry, as a veteran I cringe when the term "soldier" is loosely used to describe service members.

    I love the fan theory that Sean Connery's character is actually James Bond who was disavowed and replaced to cover up what he was doing.
    I am sort of no surprised about the water He spent a lot of time cold and wet doing movies when he was a young health ex-bodybuilder at his age I'd put my foot down if I could they just forgot the chlorine
