Also, there was ONE region that had a NPC that asks you to change your Pokemon's Poke Ball into an Ultra Ball. I think it was Unova, but I could be completely wrong

they try to make the battles exciting, so they have to make some purposeful bad plays (at least they do that for the custom battles; i'm guessing they also do that for these battles)

If you're wondering why Wally has Gallade instead of Gardevoir is because the fanbase confused Gardevoir as being too girly, so Gallade was introduced. As a result, Wally had Gallade and it can Mega-Evolve. Because of the oversensitive fanbase, Gardervoir had a more sexualized design when it Mega-Evolved so Gallade's Mega-Evolution had the night design.
