- Today I decided to share with you the Battle against Professor Kukui with the best quality possible you could find!

Important note : I'll play the game as "Pokeli" but I choose the character (models, eyes, hat, skin, clothes, etc, etc...) as Sun and I have chosen this character because this is what he represents if there is no personalization.
Also because of the picture of each music that I post on my second channel I do not plan to change clothes in the game. Thank you for understanding!

I fucking loved this battle. Kukui had so many of my favorite pokemon on his team! Midday Lycanroc, Braviary, and Ninetales. You know you're in for a serious fight when the dude sets up stealth rocks turn 1.

I feel like Kukui is one of the harder champions in the series, IMO Cynthia is still teh hardest but when you compare Kukui to the recent champions he is actually quite hard

I took him down with no spoilers on his team. He was really tough. His decidueye used a z-move on me. I had to use a lot of max revives. My team: Mimikyu, Ash-Greninja, Mudsdale, Turtonator, Snorlax, and Primarina.

During his intro Kukui takes off his glasses, then when he sends out his first pokemon his glasses have completely vanished and in his hand is a pokeball. Then, when Lycanroc pops out of the Pokeball, Kukui's glasses are suddenly back on.
It took Kukui 2 seconds (1:10 to 1:12) to magically obtain his glasses again (he was empty handed as soon as he tosses his pokeball and his glasses weren't anywhere to be seen) and put them back on.
Either Kukui's a wizard or he's got the reflexes of Sonic the Hedgehog.
He's got the moves 👀
He's a moves specialist and wrestler. I wouldn't be surprised if he has some mad reflex and sleight of hand skills too.
He also takes them off again after the battle somehow.

Its nice to see a final boss thats actually somewhat difficult after how easy gen 6 was!

Kukui IS hard unless you're really prepared. I mean, I beat him, but he has been the champion that I felt was the most challenging of them all. I use de Set option, that makes him way more hard than he should be.
Ozmar Basilio Well, half my team is weak to fire and fighting type moves( I know incineroar isn't fire/fighting, but it knows cross chop).

This was my first ever pokemon game, after knowing the anime long before playing the games, and remembering this theme gives me a lot of memory of the game, and how God damn hard this fight was.
the thing is, this theme sounds a lot like a tribute of sort. A tribute the entirety of an end to all handheld pokemon games. Yeah, we have the switch but its technically a console. The theme sounds like a tribute to all pokemon games in the mainseries, of which being on handheld devices, dating back to pokemon red and blue. It feels like a tribute to each and every game in the past knowing this was the last handheld game on the mainseries line.

Most fun I've ever had battling a champion
Actually you didn't fight a Champion, was Kukui fighting a Champion, YOU.
I mean--technically speaking: I guess you can call him the Champion. He was the admin of this whole construction and formed the Elite Four. He also says he can't become champion, unless he beats him.
Aliyaan Kazi He wasn't aiming to take the Championship title from him (yet), it was more like he was testing him.
DragonOver Cannon He says he cant become the champion until he beats him because that basically means that if you lose you lose the title straight away, which doesnt really count as becoming the champion.
I couldn't beat him the first time because I forgot to stock up on potions and revives before battling the elite four.
Now this a real battle right here and the music for this set battle is beyond beautiful; I can't even describe it and it almost makes me feel like a real performer. ❤️
This battle was epic as hell the first time I did it back in 2016. I mean you battle him at the top of a mountain! Time flies and I sure as hell miss playing this for the first time
I just realized. Lycanroc Midnight's Hidden Ability is No Guard. Stone Edge won't miss. Ever.

Unfortunately, it makes him a huge target for Hydro Pump and Focus Miss-....I mean, Blast.
Yeah, I prefer Midday Form. It's attack is so high, with its speed only 3 points behind. I haven't made a Lycanroc Midday set yet, but I'm thinking either Max Attack Choice Band Accelerock or Max Attack Choice Scarf with Rock Slide, Crunch, Fire Fang, and Thunder Fang. I used a Midday Lycanroc in my playthrough, and I gave it a Hard Stone, which ups Rock moves, and Accelerock was out there 1 shotting Gyarados' after an Intimidate drop. So many good mons in 7th Gen. I'll have to see how bad the speeds are later, cause half of the team I chose for my playthrough were fast motherfuckers (Lycanroc, Ribombee, Salazzle). And I'm more afraid of Will-O-Wisp, because I've missed that 4 times in a row without any evasion or accuracy changes.
Competitive Chespin One time in the battle with him before I accidentally restarted and had to beat him again my starter avoided the attack. Or she either avoided stone edge I don't remember.

Lana Karassi A common misconception, Kukui is not the champion, you are. You have to defend your title from him in the last battle. Just imagine yourself in Blue's place in the original games. You beat the elite 4, claim the champion's title, and then Red comes to steal your title.

I think I can honestly say this is bar none the best pokemon battle in the entire series. Now YOU are the champion who has to defend their recently acquired title, and the music? My god, the music...there are no words to describe who beautifully epic this song really is, and it's YOUR Champion theme! Not to mention you're going up against the man who welcomed you to Alola with open arms, helped you in receiving your starter pokemon which kickstarted your journey, and the same man who had just founded Alola's very own Pokemon League. Good god, this is just too much. How will Nintendo/Game Freak be able to top something like this in the next game?

When I did this, I honestly didn't need a lot of potions which was kinda surprising. Not sure if it was because of my team or because I was a tad bit overleveled.

I had to struggle beating kukui with only an incineroar because the rest of my pokemon fainted while i was fighting the elite four and i didn't have anymore revives or anything like that. It took me around 2-3 hours,because i had to come up with a strategy. My incineroar got beat up by his primarinas z move too. It sucked but it was worth it because i became the first champ of Alola B)
Thats why after a certain point of the game, you earn 1000000 "Pokedollars" i bought 99 revived and 99 max restores... °_°

honestly, at this point in the game, I knew I was in for a big treat. it was a fun battle. the music wasn't in your face and intimidating, but rather praising you. the trainer who completed these trials and triumphed over everything that got in your way.

By far the funnest fight I had in Sun pokemon ever.
I just notice something about Kukui's team. I think the Pokemon he have have something to do with his relationship with some characters in the game that I think that he has some close and personal connection with
The starter Pokemon he chose is strong against the Player's starter
He has the midday form of Lycanroc while Olivia has the midnight form
His Snorlax is weak against Hala's Fighting type. Snorlax also kinda reminds me of Hala as well
His Braviary is considered to be the counterpart of Mandibuzz which Kahili owns (since Kukui invited her to be a member of the Elite 4 means that he probably know her personally)
He owns a Magnezone just like Molayne in the Title Defense Battle. I think this refers to how close of friends he and Molayne are since Sophocles also owns one as well.
His Ninetales is either to oppose Nanu's Dark Types or the fact that the Alolan Ninetales kinda reminds me of Professor Burnet a bit
The battle against Kukui was so epic! I never expected him to be the final boss of the Pokemon League and the way the battle was presented was AMAZING! His Magnezone gave me a hard time in most of the battle.

Primarina must be the new Gardevoir. I've never see much trainers with a Male Gardevoir until Generation VII because of Gallade's exsistance. Primarina must be the remedy to this problem.

Tips for people that are having trouble with this fight:
1. Make sure you level up your Pokemon to level 60
2. Buy Full Restores and Revives
3. Teach your Pokemon powerful moves and try to use status conditions
4. Kukui can sometimes switch into a Pokemon that is strong against yours so becareful

Your Lycanroc quite literally saved your entire match lol withstanding killing blows THREE TIMES in a row is literally unheard of...
I still get nightmares of this battle... I didn't know who was there because I didn't look at any spoilers... I was underleveled and all of his Pokemon had type advantages over mine... and his Stealth Rock Lycanroc... I beat him eventually... I learned to love the theme though. (Lunala isn't a help at ALL.) What really got me was his Incineroar, Snorlax and Magnezone.
DrawnToast Same happened to me the e4 used up all my revives so I only had 2 max revives and my pokémon were severely underleved and his grass starter and snorlax were a pain in the butt, and the stealth rock triggered me, but I managed to beat him after a few tries.
DrawnToast had no problem except for that magnezone, basically sweeper my team
he got me with his decidueye cuz my only fire type was salandit but he didnt evolve and he was at level 62 i think do i need a stone or what cuz the same thing happened to my pikachu but when i gave it a stone it evolved to raichu and my machoke beat the shit out of his snorlax but he used full heal

There is a bit of a difference in his team. His Lycanroc is the sun version. As for the starter, he choose one that is strong against your choice starter.

Great battle! Loved the Kukui battle. For me he took out 4 of mine. I don't use revives ones they're taken out. I finished it with my Decidueye using spirit shackle on magnezone.

+Tepig Even with the exp share, this game's Elite Four still put up a good fight. All the exp share really does is cut down on time spent grinding. Being forced to grind exp doesn't make a game more difficult, just tedious.

I did this fight quite a while back and I really enjoyed it. It was a very challenging and fun battle. The team I used was Decidueye, Arcanine, Vaporeon, Toucannon, Raichu (Alolan form) and Mimikyu
First Reaction:WHAT?! KUKUI?! YOUR THE CHAMPION?! YOU'VE BEEN THE CHAMPION THIS WHOLE TIME AND YOU NEVER TOLD ME?! YOU COULDN'T HELP ME TAKE DOWN GUZMA AND LUSAMINE?! OR CATCH SOLGALEO IN A SINGLE ULTRA BALL?!?!?! ALRIGHT! I'M MAD! I'M TAKING YOU DOWN! RIGHT HERE,AND RIGHT NOW! And I end up losing the first time,then reset the game cause I saved before hand!
