@9:15 It's a linked ability tied to the cards exiled with the first ability. When it changes zones, it's now a new object with no memory of anything exiled with the first ability.
@@bigchillin8384 correct. phasing out is not changing zones. however, the OP never mentioned anything about phasing, nor is phasing and exile the same thing. so...
@@bigchillin8384 Correct. Phasing in/out is not considered a zone change. It isn't seen as entering/leaving the battlefield. It would still be the same object. I didn't bring it up, because Mitch was asking about blink effects when he was asking about confirmation.
ill be this guy. Mimeoplasm doesn't work with yargle because with his ability he become a 0/0 copy of target creature... Off course you can exile 6 other creature and yargle, then you will have 21/21 mimeoplasm yargle copy :D
It does not remember what it exiled previously if they wanted it to work that way it should have been worded as Exile creatures from graveyard put slime counters on it. It enters with 3 +1 counters for each creature card Exile this way this turn Pay 2 colorless : Mineoplasm becomes a copy of creature with a slime counter in Exile except it's a 0/0 with this ability
The new mimeoplasm would be a fine addition to an already existing mimeoplasm deck in the 99. Cast the Mimeoplasm ->exile Mimeoplasm, Revered One (for Original Mimeo to become) and then something big, and then exile 6 more things for more counters.
Dude, the combo potential is pretty good. You can exile a creature that taps for mana equal to its power (kami of whispered hopes) and a creature that can untap itself (horseshoe crab). You tap for 6 or more mana, pay 2 to transform it into the untapper, pay 1 to untap, pay 2 to transform into mana dork, 1 mana profit. It's several steps, but it would work
I agree with the strategy… I adopted that in the current Mimeoplasm deck that I have now and studied Kraj to get a full understanding of what I wanted to accomplish… I realized that making a pod deck with those kind of tap and untap interactions worked well together with cards like necrotic ooze and lazav the multifarious… it’s a combo deck and it can go to many directions… adding black to a simic deck opens doors to many possibilities… but the downside is that simic is all about playing with what you got until the game ender cards start showing up and black takes it there

Is it just me or is the new mimeoplasm a shittier version of the old one. The old mimeoplasm diddnt take much to become a slugging commander. This one needs a lot of mana to even replicate the same thing, and you STILL need more mana to copy something. The only thing that is better about it is that you can change what it copies
@9:15 It isn't templated to remember the previous cards it exiled. Would have to be worded like Chun-li/Zethi's kick counter ability for that to work. Also, EXCEPT it is a 0/0, so overrides the stats of the creature it becomes. So */* creatures would be 0/0 with counters. If you instead had a "This creature has +1/+1 for each...." or "This creature gets +X/+X where..." creature, that would be able to pump it's power (e.g. Fiend Artisan, +1/+1 per creature card in your graveyard, which is a slam dunk for this commander).
Unfortunately, the Mimeoplasm does *not* remember cards across zones. This is exactly the issue that things like the "croak counters" on Grolnok were made to prevent.
So as soon as he momeoplasm leaves play and recast it’s looked at as a completely new card so you’ll no longer have access to the cards exiled previously. Unless they changed that ruling that’s how it’s always worked…
Mimeoplasm does not benefit from prior exiles. If it exiled the card with a counter (eg. exile up to x creature cards and put an ooze counter on them), then that would carry over between Mimeoplasm incarnations because the exiled card is untethered from a specific copy of the card. If you want a good example of the opposite type of card, look at Tinybones, Bauble Burglar, which puts stash counters on whatever it exiles. It's going to be gross in Mutate decks though.
I’m pretty sure the Mimeoplasm doesn’t work like that. Once it’s bounced or removed, it forgets everything that was exiled, and you’ll have to do the whole process over again. This card is cool, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not that cool.
Ah the memories, Mimeoplasm was my first precon commander believe it or not. I would consider running at least one hexproof creature as protection, since he can become what he exiles
Standard Mimeoplasm with Sire of Seven Deaths could be interesting, 6 mana makes him a 9/9, then pay 2 to make it a copy. only 1 more mana then Sire for a 9/9
I wouldn't say it is *better* than the original: it only exiles from *your* graveyard so no resource denial on the card itself; it looks more like a sidegrade to Mairsil: it has acess to all the cards text EXCEPT it's stats and can use the same ability multiple times, but requires you to pay a 2 tax to use abilities of other cards...and it don't remembers cards exiled in the case of bounce or removal. It's way riskier and demanding than the original one, but it's not 'weak' too. Definitely not "better than ever". Aside from the clown-fiesta of kaladesh vs avshkar and more woke stuff, I am liking the muraganda exploration, the primal fauna/ooze theme. Nice to have a revisit to the mimeoplasm.

I dont think phasing out counts as changing zones. Same reason why you cant put your commander in command zone when it is phased out

20:09 it turns into that creature except 0/0 with Yargle, it's not a bargle

Does work with an Ancient bronze dragon... In response to blocks...
But Yargle for +1/+1’s and copy is of “other” card
It becomes a 0/0 so it's just counters that give it power, it specifically says, "except it's 0/0 and has this ability".
It does not remember what it exiled previously if they wanted it to work that way it should have been worded as Exile creatures from graveyard put slime counters on it. It enters with 3 +1 counters for each creature card Exile this way this turn

I don’t think that would work with the X cost being part of the ability
I completely overlooked that!😦
Mimeoplasm don't work with voimaw and redemptor dreadnought because of the same reason, cards that copy don't "share" exile effects.
It doesn't work like that chief

The original Mimeoplasm is one of my favorite cards designed exclusively for Commander. I really don't like anything about the new one.
@@McD_James Same here. Mimeoplasm is one of my main decks, and I don't see any reason to use this one over it

'Exiled with it' is in reference to that instance of that creature.

Unstoppable Plan’s art is just an alternate from Propaganda but the mark is 6 inches higher from the forehead. Keep the flavor text!

As a Jace fan, it's nice to see more cards of my favorite walker.
NO WAY, I was just thinking the other day "Man I'd love to see mimeoplasm return again"
Ah the memories, Mimeoplasm was my first precon commander believe it or not.

I just go with Trample & Haste creatures such as Tyrranax Rex and swing big lol

So, Zinnia's offspring will cost jus one mana?
no, its not activaded its a "extra cost"
2:18 Decks that care about mana rocks? Yeah, because *that’s* who needed a new power card; Urza.
Unstoppable Plan is going in my urza high artificer deck
Now I'm hype for the memeoplasm. Thanks alot
It doesn't work how he described. The copy is a 0/0 so. But being able to change on the fly is cool.
@dcw8284 i understand but still cool though
Did Temur just make a come back
I still like Agatha's Soul Cauldron more than the new Mimeoplasm
This is a lame ooze. No reason to use, unless a budget +1/+1 counter deck.
