    Like Mr Darcy and the Old Man keep saying, it's a bike that feels and screams character. It's absolutely beautiful, the engine sounds and feels great, being air/oil cooled gives you a legal reason to lane split in countries where it is otherwise illegal (Germany for instance), it's quite cheap.... what's not to love about it? Certainly a great beginner bike, but also a great forever bike.

    • @BanzoUnchained

    I'm 23 and I've bought one as a second bike and I love it! I'm 6 Foot 4 with a 34 inch inseam and I'm very comfortable on the bike but that is with the softer and slightly taller Touring/Comfort seat as people do say the stock seat is rather hard! I've added a full TEC exhaust system and it really brings the 270 crack twin to life! awesome review as even, Dan - thank you very much!

      The bike looks very good. Rode it and filmed it last year. Overall a nice classic machine. To me it felt comfortable a lot and being 6ft 1 with the stock seat wasn't a problem. :) Drop by to check my content bro. Cheers.

      What change have you noticed with full exhaust system change and have you changed air filter and powertronics or fuelx?

    • @frederickwoods5943
      @frederickwoods5943 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@muttineni03I have a 2020 Interceptor with the TEC full stainless-steel exhaust system that has over 40,000 miles on it. With the addition of the TEC 2 into 2 exhaust my fuel economy went from 72-73mpg up to nearly 77mpg. I added WiseCo 83.5mm pistons and an S&S cam over a year ago, mileage is now back to a solid 72mpg but the horsepower and torque are on-par with my Thruxton 900. The weight savings alone is worth changing the exhaust, my 750INT weighs 429 pounds. (Virginia, USA)

    • @muttineni03
      @muttineni03 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@frederickwoods5943 On par with Thruxton? It's 80nm torque just just changing camshaft? Any vibrations after changing camshaft?

    • @frederickwoods5943
      @frederickwoods5943 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@muttineni03 the S&S camshaft by itself does not add horsepower; it has same valve-lift as standard but longer duration, hence more torque. The added displacement 743cc vs. 648cc (almost 15 percent) combined with higher compression (11 to 1) is where the power comes from. My Interceptor power to weight ratio is barely 7 pounds per horsepower; both the 2012 865cc Triumphs and the new Speed Twin 900 are 7.4 pounds per horsepower and all those Triumphs are 5-speed.
      The Interceptor is 50 pounds lighter, has an extra gear and a Rekluse clutch in mine. I don't ride my Triumphs anymore...

  • @EJK1965
    @EJK1965 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    I can confirm that at 85 mph upwards (private roads obvs) these engines sound like they're gonna explode......which adds to the amusement. Front suspension needs uprating ASAP. Standard brakes lack bite. I've shed 20kgs on mine. Harder riding produces 50mpg.

    Yes this is my choice of motorcycle. I've owned a Royal Enfield Interceptor since 2021 and I've been riding motorcycles for 50 years. Ran all sorts of motorcycles since all sizes really different makes and sizes. And I can tell you the Royal Enfield is a terrific bike. I do me on servicing as well. And I also on a hunter 350 which service both bikes myself, with aftermarket silencer and also a fitted fuel X devices on both bikes , And helps on the lean burn situation and the bike is definitely benefiting from it. I would recommend anybody who's fitted aftermarket air system and silencer to do the fuel. X on these type of machines. Cheers Paul

      @@RRRRefuelRideRace I've had mine for ten years. I'm just turning seventy, so I'm guessing it's going to be the last motorcycle I ever own. Quite frankly I love it. It doesn't have the low down grunt, and it's a bit on heavy side, but it does have the smooth - turbine like - four cylinder flow of power. It's also, or a motorcycle, relatively comfortable.

    I recently bought this bike in the exact same colour scheme and I love it. It's very simply a back to basics motorcycle that does precisely what it was designed to do. I can't rate it highly enough. Yes it's a budget bike, no it's not full of "tech" and neither is it super quick. However that's what I was looking for to sit alongside my Tracer 900. A cracking bike from Royal Enfield that hits the spot.

    Excellent review Dan, I've had my baker Express for just over four years now and the only issue I've had was air in the rear brake system and a faulty tyre valve all of which I rectified myself. These bikes are easy to work on and I've done my own servicing from day one, the stock seat is hard after an hour of riding. As I get older the weight of the bike is getting harder to live with, not when riding but manouvering in and out of the garage. I was going to look at the Triumph 400/400X as a lighter alternative but the Guerrilla 400 will now be added to the list, I will still hold on to the Interceptor though.

      I just testrode Guerrilla. Amazing bike. Handles so well,Easy to flick and feels so light weight. The pull during slow speed feels similar to INT/GT even with the lesser torque figures probably because of the weight.
      That being said, the twin engine of INT is soo smooth. And I feel pillion would be more comfortable on a INT than Guerrilla.
      You should get a testride and compare them :)
      The handling of both is very very different.

    Thanks for this one Dave, and what with this and Peter's (LE) offering, I think it's made my mind up regarding my Himalayan and this year's Spanish trip. I put a TEC camshaft in a couple of years ago so I have a touch more power, but the motorway miles down to Plymouth are a pain at 60mph. I'm putting a new chain on before I go, and even if I put the standard sprocket back on when I get back it'll be worth it. Yep decision made! Thanks. 👍

    What you have there is the dark edition which comes in blue and black. All other interceptors have chrome engines and exhausts. I own baker express version and love it. The dark versions have tubeless tyres too unlike the rest that all have spoke wheels. I replaced my seat with the touring seat which is better but still not amazingly comfortable. Under the side panel is a useful toolkit. Mine has different exhausts and sounds really good. These are total bargains at the moment and it's main rival is probably the BSA Gold star. I'm surprised you found the clutch heavy, my GT which is the same apart from the clip-ons and rear set foot pegs has always had a light clutch. Royal Enfield do sell better seats for these bikes.
    For me the seat height was far too high which helped me to drop the bike at one point which is when I realized how high the center of gravity was and how heavy the bike was, both attributes making the bike hard to get upright again. These bikes are ideal for folks like me that can't resist modifying them, in my case lowering the seat and reducing weight through many changes. Thanks for the video, good to hear another take on this bike.

    What's the advantage of a big engine that produces far less HP than bikes with this engine size usually do? Most bikes with, say, a 300cc engine produce 30-40bhp; this one produces the same power as a 450cc bike normally would when it's a 650. Their 350 engines produce only 20bhp.

    Why does everyone repeat the basic statistics of the bike? We all know it's a 648 CC parallel twin and it has telescopic for can a single front desk and a single rear disc simply repeating what 100 people before you have said. Today's motorcycles are a collection of government regulations on two wheels.

      @@Englishbikerdan I merely point out that the basic statistics of the bikes do not bear repeating a hundred million times. The basic statistics on both the 350 and the 650 are well known you don't have to repeat them you don't have to repeat common Sense things like it has a telescopic fork what other kind of fork would it have? Saying it has disc brakes what other kind of brakes would it have? It's like you repeat the basic statistics of the bike over and over again just to fill out the video. Videos like yours are merely Royal Enfield commercials that they get publicity for free. Boring!! There have been so many reviews of these two motorcycles that there is nothing new that you can say about them except if they paint them a different color. They are both cheap heavy slow underpowered. What is acceptable for Indian standards of quality and what is acceptable for a western standard of quality are two different things which is why there are many of these bikes on sale for half price barely used on the interweb. You can buy a 650 and a 350 for the price of a brand new 350. They don't hold their value for nothing. New bikes are being sold on the road for $3,000 lb sOTR. Many people have been disappointed by the advice which is why they are for sale at low mileage garage queen sales.

      Its the tech that puts me off modern bikes as I will never use it. I'm 62 and want a back to basics bike. That's why i have just bought an Interceptor 650.

      Fair enough Paul, plenty of choice I guess!

      You mean like the Africa Twin, with 16 buttons to operate with a gloved left hand? Rather you than me!

    Don't like the colour scheme on this iteration, prefer the classic chrome look. However what ever the appearance is it's just academic as it is too slow.

      Too slow for what?

      @@Englishbikerdan What do you mean too slow for what? It is too slow, not fast enough.

    • @Englishbikerdan
      @Englishbikerdan  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well if you're making the statement that it's not fast enough, what is it not fast enough for? It pulls away from most other traffic at the lights without issue. It'll do 85mph on the motoway for as long as you want. So I'm a little confused what you think it's not fast enough for? I mean, it's not an R1 afterall,

    That is not a cruiser.You don't know what you are talking about .It is a Roadster.

      Okay so it's a roadster! These aren't my usual bike types that I ride, so it's not really my thing.

    It'll always be a cheap Triumph bonneville imo .
    Your title was spot on, Best Budget Cruiser but you can buy a second hand Triumph bonneville and be King of the road.

    Test drove one of the 650's today. I was not impressed. Had a 1974 Triumph Trident that was much more refined. The orange peal on the paint was terrible. The steering is rubbish. The engine deserves a better bike to be built around it. An excellent example of you get what you pay for. I actually thought of trading in my Moto Guzzi V85 TT on it. I quickly came to my senses. The color schemes on the new ones look like the crap that AMF put on Harleys. For the life of me, I can't understand all the praise for these things.

      This just wasn't my experience. Not saying you are wrong, I just had a different experience with the bike. Loved it for what it was.
