- In this video I am going to show you how to install the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Halo Back on AMD's AM4 & AM5 socket as well as Intels LGA 115x, 1200 and 1700 sockets. This guide also applies to range of other Cooler Master Hyper 212 Coolers as well.
This is for demonstration purposes only. Every system, motherboard and setup is different. This guide is just to give you the fundamental idea of how to install the Hyper 212 Halo Black on almost all motherboards!

I installed this on my 4690k and its been lovely for a cheap cpu cooler
I still has the Evo, which was a bit pain to install but got used to it 🤣 finally good to see they have the much easy installation like the deepcool ones

my water cooler pump just died and I got this air cooler to fill the gap while I wait for my RMA replacement. It was only 30 bucks and honestly it cools just as good as my 360 AIO water cooler. I may end up just leaving it on as it has a lot less wires and is way easier to take on and off if needed. About to add a second fan to the backside to increase air flow. Awesome unit! Cooler Master makes great stuff. Im getting idles at like 36-39 all day long and load of only 60-70. This is on a 13900K by the way also, so no slouch on the CPU either. Buy it!

I liked the new one because the installation screws are flush so it's impossible to over tighten

This is very helpful and clear. I suppose the sprung screws are reasonable to use cos some AMD coolers have such strong ones.

Hi I recently put together the LED version of the hyper 212 cooler, I was curious as to how tight the heatsink should be, if i try wiggle it with my hands it doesn't move ALOT but It moves ever so slightly but nothing too major that's worrying its not gonna come off. it's quite screwed in and lowered temps by 10 degrees should I tighten it more or should it be good?

Old cpu stock cooler was giving cpu temps (idle) 38-41 now with new cooler its 29-34 does this show its fine and doesn't need to be tightened further?

Do you have to use both wires if you dont plan on using the RGB? I read somewhere it would just be a default rainbow color if you only plug in the 4 pin.
if Coolermaster just add some additional fans hooks so that u can add another rgb fans for exhaust or push and pull configuration for more performance and hide those bracket from the other side
Bought mine a couple days ago and it came with 2 sets of clips. I was pleased to see this because I had no idea where to get them so I was about to Macguyver something.
Saddens me they changed to wire connectors for the heatsink fans. The previous plastic connectors they used were so much easier to use when you need to remove and reattach the fan while the heatsink was already installed and motherboard mounted in the case. They also always had a second set of plastic connectors in the box if you wanted to add a second fan too.
I'm sorry but those 4 screws with springs mounted on them are a freaking nightmare to install. The springs push the screws up while you're trying to screw them down. This mecanism makes the screw move away from the bolts while you screw them. It also forces you to tighten your grip on the rad, but you can't because the thermal pastes makes the rad slip on the CPU! Absolute nonsense. I ended up breaking one of the screws inside the bracket, which is a pain in the ass. I hoped they'd fix that in the updated Hyper 212, but nope. Installing a cooler shouldn't feel like you're playing dice with your CPU.

The springs were so tight I thought I was either going to break the motherboard or break the cpu trying to get the bolts to thread into the motherboard bracket

Thank you for making this video. I was about to throw this thing across the room. The instructions say, noting about stretching the clips to home it on. Aldo mine did not come with that little sticker that says "remove before instalation."
This is a great little cooler can confirm with a additional fan it has no problems cooling a i7 11700k i was shocked to be honest

What happens if I want to replace my existing stock cooler and I don't want to unscrew everything and take out the motherboard simply for installing a new cpu cooler? Is there a way?In the past,Coolermaster coolers had some bolts with which you could fasten their cooler backplate in the back of the motherboard and it was extremely helpful.Does this specific cooler have this option? Otherwise it is useless unless you are installing everything for the first time.Thanks.
You can do it it's just a little bit trickier.
Will this fit the CoolerMaster NR200 with the mesh side panel? (The old Hypers only the mesh panel would accommodate the hyper)

Will it fit in the Cooler Master NR200P? The older Hyper 212 Black Edition didn't fit with the tempered glass side panel.
Height is listed on coolermaster for both the case and cooler
My NH-U12A fits which has a height of 158mm as long as the side radiator bracket is removed. note that this won’t work with the tempered glass version! The 212 spec page says it’s 156mm so it should fit with no side rad bracket and mesh side panel
Do they sell a extra bracket for a second fan, for push pull setup.
Bought mine today and it came with 4 so yes. I am in the UK. Hope this helps.
Mine came with 2 sets of clips as well here in the US. Purchased at microcenter. Not sure if that makes a difference where I got it from but just in case you wanna buy one online I would get it from them in hopes that you get one with two sets of clips as well.

Did you need it ?
Yes you can run this without the RGB cable connected to the mobo or RGB hub. Get you a little zip tie and tie the cable up out of the way and boom you are done. Or leave the cable dangling like a madman... whichever you prefer. :)

Ohh.. mine came with clips for two fans. Did I get lucky or are they just doing that now? Who knows, but I say it was a win because I also bought a second fan when I picked this up at microcenter and this cooler works great for me. I did end up using both fans from the start but I may remove one and see how the temps vary when not in a push/pull configuration. So far this thing is keeping my I7-11700k thermal heat death ray cpu from cooking itself.
what is the clearance for the memory?
I have a MSI MAG Z590 TOMAHAWK WIFI mobo and it does not cover the ram slot closest to the cooler. Its damn close but there is sufficient room to have the ram in place and feel comfortable that the fan will not rub. Plus the cooler sits up high enough from the mobo that it only over laps the ram module just a bit so there is no worry that the ram will obstruct airflow.
What if you don't have a 3 PIN 5V ARGB header on your motherboard? Will it still work?

The brackets supplied with mine are not flat they jut up half an inch at the ends so the screws wont reach

Seems like a bad fan design for a heatsink. Wouldnt you want the fan to "seal" onto the fin stack instead of having huge gaps everywhere? Id be curious to see the performance compared to, for example, the deepcool ak400.

could it be that you made a little mistake ? you placed the fan in direction of the ram which means it will have cool air in instead of hot air out.

Mine is plugged into my mobo so I use either MSI center or signal RGB to mess with the colors and how they flash or whatever. If your mobo doesn't have the ARGB pin headers you will need either a case with an RGB hub or you have to buy a 3rd party RGB controller. They all cost about the same so its your choice which to get if you need one.

I was looking into these coolers and I got seriously confused with the naming of 2 of them, one called Hyper 212 Black Edition and the other Hyper 212 Black which is like this Halo one but without the Halo part, I'm lost lol
