Keep the JC item IMO. Also, grab a hotzone aug or something for the type 7 slot. And race is meaningless past about level 70 (Stalwart Endurance, etc). I have four Paladins over 70, with the highest being 101. All but one is high elf (the 87 is half elf). If your Paladin at 89 is "wimpy", it's her gear (and/or AA) not her race. Soloing with a merc is commonly called 'moloing'. Healer mercs are the most useful post 85, followed by melee dps then caster dps and then tank. At 115, tank merc needs a ton of support to handle names in FM, Crypt of Sul, and even Tower of Rot (the only places I've tried to use one). By contrast, an SK with just T1 ToL group gear (mostly) can do it with very few issues (named + add gets hairy for a few seconds but easy mode after the initial shock). I'm guessing if I gear up the merc, it might do better but I haven't gotten to that point yet. I think people might have expected the mercs to be as good at level 100+ as they were at level 1-60, which isn't realistic at all. EDIT: It was just pointed out to me on Discord that it could be the fact that you're fighting low cons when most people at higher levels are fighting yellows and reds. That might also contribute to the opinion of tank mercs being subpar.
Ac doesent do much unless you are a tank and have a TON of it, hp however need to be removed so i prefer more of that and more stats in general on non tank characters.
People use MOLO to refer to soloing + merc.
I put healers on reactive and block the heal over time spells, that's the best way to use them atleast at higher lvls.
They’re not just good they are a bit of a necessity
Use DPS mercs (rogue) all the time (War/Enc/Dru) to round out my group

i love my 99 eurdin sk
what are you taling about dwarf is the nr 1 pala combo (human 2Nd)
Shaman for slows and 5 mages with swarms and pets nice DPS.
The healer merc with healer merc gear is still relevant at 120. You can try and stretch a tank merc but they get pummeled past 100. It’s rough.
When should you start worrying about buying gear for your merc?
level 105. Thats when it becomes usefull with the extrav merc gear and vigilant is the better variant of the 2@@OldRod99
Thanks!@@Michael-gp3vl
With right aa and gear you can still use them however better off using dps or healer at that point.
How do you get those lion mounts?
It's from the House of Thule Revival Pack. I explain how to get it in this video. th-cam.com/video/3wCnZr4_uu0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=b9tpdlWNq-bdJuuR
