great video - Q: Why change the unit if they are similar, is there a defect, life span age, and or other reason?
The original was old, not sure how old. Softeners definitely have a life span.
My old house has the copper flex connected to copper pipping. Should I continue to use the copper flex?
You would need to replace the washers in the brass nuts. If it's easy enough to replace, I would go that route 1st.

You didn’t add the bleach to sanitize the unit nor did you mention about adding 3 gallons of water and then the 3 bags of salt. I’m installing the Rheem 32k unit in my home. Maybe I missed in the video what I’ve mentioned above. If so. Sorry! Please respond if you can. Thank you! 18:28
Sorry forgot to mention the 3 gal of water. I do a regeneration of the unit when I'm done. The salt brine and chorine from the city when doing the regeneration will take care of anything.
Does the water softner make noise the entire time when it recharges?
Off and on. It depends what cycle it's in.
