    Whag happens if you connect the in and out incorrectly? Say, you connect the line that's supposed to be in vice versa? I am having sewer smell in my water, I do not see an airgap connected to my drain line. There is no big pvc tube with the drain line like yours. Could it be that my water softener was installed incorrectly? I think the guy connected the drain line directly to my sewer line without an airgap.

  • @oldtimefarmboy617

    You forgot the supply shutoff valve for the water softener and the bypass tube with a shutoff valve so you can shut water off to the water softener if necessary and then bypass it so the house can have water while the water softener is shut off. Otherwise a leak on the water softener would require shutting water off to the entire house for however long it takes to get fixed or replaced.

    • @jasoncleck
      @jasoncleck 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I believe you can detach the shutoff valve from the upright tank, with it in bypass mode (red handles pointed at one another...)

    • @sonycrack1

      You’d want a carbon filter for chlorine, iron filter for iron. If your silica is dissolved you may need an anion resin / ion exchange filter.
      To answer your sizing question, 50# of gravel & 4 cubic feet of your choice resin. If you don’t filter the chlorine or iron before softening I’d suggest an HE resin by purolite. For consistent water quality delivery you might opt for 2 units to run simultaneously with electronic interlocks.
