Big fan of older Chrysler products, never seen one with a diesel engine before. Interestingly for those who don’t know, up until 1995 these vans are built on a super elongated version of the K car platform. These vans and the K car siblings are the product of the legendary Lee Iacocca and literally saved Chrysler from bankruptcy in the 80’s. Also they were the first cars made standard in 1990’ with a driver side airbag as standard equipment.
@caballo_de_guerra You are right sir! OK the car may not be in the best of condition right now, but, it could be usable to the right person. I blame previous owners of it for letting it get to that stage, and, with everything else they see somebody with a new car and feel they have to keep up. I hope they can do something with this car so somebody can use it.👍
Szó szerint a megváltásra várva nézett ott szegény Chrysler, de te szerencsére őt is megmentetted. Köszönöm hogy egy újjabb boldog megkönnyebbüléssel ajándékoztál meg. Köszönöm szépen Flexiny!
@@42luke93 True but Dave had more interests then cars. And although he worked hard to have Google remove it all, the police still has him registered as a sex offender. And he served prison-time for possesion of childporn. He doesn't deserve to be recalled!
I love these old Chrysler vans 😍 my aunt had one exactly like this one for a very long time and hearing that beep reminded me of those good times. These never die if you take care of of them, very reliable vans
I used to drive one of these. Epic car for travelling, it was 2.8 crd, and one 2.4 petrol (too week, for weight) I had problems only with steering... 💪
If I didn't already have a manual diesel pickup, I'd buy that van in a heartbeat! I didn't know they came with a 2nd gen 5 speed, let alone a diesel! I wish we got them here in the US! What a trooper, and they were quite a comfortable ride!
From what I recall of these, they used the 2.5L VM Motori engines, as used in all kinds of vehicles in the 80s and 90s, proper clattery old things that left the cars & vans they were in with blackened rear ends... :P
I have one in my Opel Frontera. I put a bigger turbo on it and some fuel pump upgrades. Makes 160hp and 380nm now and has been very reliable for the last 50.000km. Just be sure to warm it up before flooring it.
Yep they had diesels of these. I used to live across the street from the Water and Sewage Department where they had issues of the 80/90s Caravan and Chevy Astros. Good times.
I had never heard of a diesel Voyager before, but seeing the euro plate I get it now. My dad had a 94 Dodge Caravan with the same short body, not a grand caravan. If I remember correctly it had a V6, which was one of the only options available here in the states.
My father had the Plymouth Voyager SWB I remember it fondly it was that Marina blue color and automatic transmission and I believe it was the Mitsubishi V6 engine
WOW! I have owned a few of these, but all of mine were either the Mitsubishi 2.5 non-turbo or the Mitsubishi 6G72 3.0L V6...I never knew they were offered with a diesel elsewhere! These were also offered with the Mitsubishi 2.5 turbo here in the US. I had a 1990 Dodge Spirit 2.5 turbo and it was a fun car for $500. I paid $25 for a used automatic trans (because mine didn't have reverse, typical era Chrysler FWD transmissions), and I bought my buddy a case of beer to install it. I drove that car for 20,000 miles before I took a turn too hard and it threw a rod due to oil starvation. That engine had 180,000 miles on it.
@@santileonsteinberg1441 The only ones I've seen were the first gen Voyagers. I was shocked to see they came with a diesel! :D I wish we had more manual diesels here in the US. T^T
I allways liked the chrysler minivans from the 80s to the 2000s especially the first 2 generations because they look utilitarian wich is fact why i love boxy styling and they are really usable for a lot of things also i like the fact that this particular example has custom fog lights
My first vehicle I’ve ever bought here in the states. Except mine was gasoline. The master cylinder went out and I had no brakes through an intersection. Very scary! Interior had a nice cigarette smell. lol love your videos!
Damn 7 years of standing, and it aged pretty well i saw most cars that have been standing unusable for less and they looked like they have been abandoned for decades, Chrysler is a good car, they either have Orion or Saturn engines, i believe they also came out with eight cylinder engines, but four and six cylinders are the common ones.
Cool! I have an ‘89 Dodge Caravan. 4 cylinder automatic. Unfortunately it has a blown head gasket, though it will start up and runs and drives. I’d love to put another engine in it some day. I use it for storage and call it my moveable shed 😅
i see a blue van Toyota Hi-ace (1977-1984) RH31V near this Chrysler Voyager, can you start it too in an other video please ? I love those Toyota vans from '70 & '80s 🤩
I love your videos saving these amazing cars, I have a question. After u get the cars running again where do u take them? Do u sell them or do u keep them? Thanks.
In the first few minutes of pulling the car out. I saw a bmw. Which as I understand also stands on this field for 7 years, and then there each such car stands for 7-10 years. We're waiting for a new clip of the bmw.
Another good find. This was the era, in the 80's-90's, when Europe was being flooded with Diesels, under the EU Dieseliastion mandate. They wanted more Diesels and less petrol cars/light commercials. How times change! 👍💯🇬🇧😉
I like how this generation of Voayger looks, don't like the bubly looks of the next two generations. Dunno about this diesel, I saw a cheap one around, but I'm a bit worried about it
I owned five of them from 1990 to 1995. With the 3.3 engines they were great, unfortunately the A604 transmissions were garbage. I had to replace the transmission in every one of my five vans.

Something about dragging a beater out of the woods and getting it going. That looks more fun than driving a new car.

The north American version had a standard transmission option. Usually mated to a four cylinder.
One of the first vehicles you had to push the clutch to start it, rare feature back in the day.
