@Paloma Savaengcharoen I live in Thailand and I see many problems here. The documentary is quite right: Thailand is a deeply fragmented and incoherent country not least because Buddhism is totally incompatible with the concepts of monarchy, materialism and consumerism. Monarchy symbolises the epitome of permanence while materialism and consumerism symbolise the epitome of corruption and inequality. These concepts are in total contradiction with the basic Buddhist notions of impermanence and of removing corruption as the main cause of suffering. To force people to accept these contradictions from birth through "acculturation and education" is enough to cause such immense confusion as to drive anyone crazy. How can the "red mob" not rise up when some of them are now scavenging the leftovers found in the Elite's dustbins to survive?

12 years ago i was working in a big hotel chain in Dubai owned by the Thai royal family. Expectedly the company employed lots of Thais. I became friends to most of them. In a fews occasions we've talk about the monarchy, even back then they already knew that this situation will happen once King Bhumibol passed away because they are aware that then crown prince was a irresponsible person who only wanted a lavish life without taking responsibility. He had photos walking around naked. For a conservative Thai culture, that was very scandalous. One of them said that it's probably the end of the monarchy. In my understanding in Thai monarchy tradition a woman can't inherit the tile unlike in the UK.

Millions of Thais and foreigners have long been brain-washed, included Kofi Anan. The reality is $45b. in the asset and all free tax. That not include bribery from a private corporation of Asia, the EU, and the US. They are the shadow corporation. The world's richest king of millions lives under $200 p/d.

As a hard working taxpayer, that notion doesn't appeal to me.
" In any case England gets more money from her anyway as long as she is alive there will be millions of tourists that will give England all the tax they need from her."
The kings of France, the emperors of Rome, the Medici, and the Sforza are all dead but France and Italy bring in far more tourists than England. I can actually go into Versailles because there's no royalty living there (unlike Buckingham palace) and I can see all the artwork the Medici accumulated in Florence because they're dead (I can also see great Renaissance memes like John the Baptist pointing at Jesus or Saint Sebastian chilling with a bunch of arrows in his Chest and eat veal, which is totally illegal in my country). The Spanish empire is no more, but a strong culture and good weather keep people coming there (another country that beats England in volume of tourists). A lot of English tourism comes from lame Americans who want to visit the old world without having to come to a country where they can't understand the language or from moderately respectable Americans who want to see their ancestral homeland --> 3.8 million Americans are gonna visit the UK annually with or without the queen.
So, the Queen's divine right to rule cannot be justified by tourism.

Thailand do had covid. It’s gone now because all Thai people wore masks. Real reason that triggered people to step out is because of the frequent abductions and kills of the people who voices out especially against a certain group of people’s benefits. Those cases were all buried and the law are made in the way that we can’t testify or speak out to find the culprit ever. Even now, government is using unjustified methods to silence the people and jailing them. The government and uniformed men only act in a way that keeps several families rich and stays in power. Law aren’t even used properly anymore, they decided who they wants to arrest before deciding the law they’re guilty for, and most of the time it doesn’t even made sense.

While it is noble to protest for more democracy and a reform of the Monarchy, the real problem is the system itself.. Thailand is not one of the most unequal nations worldwide because of the Monarchy or the Military that is backed by it. The root of all problems is widespread corruption throughout all constitutions and levels of society and that people rather live with it and exploit it if it favors them, than fight it.

@@jonultime you obviously don't have Thailand friends, over here in my country we have many Thailand people working here, I have friends who are from Thailand also , they told me the same story of the current king having harem party all that. Don't believe? Ask the Thai people, majority knows that.

If you're in Thailand and talk about the king or others in the royal family like that you would be gone or got arrested by now, so sad isn't it? Luckly that you are in other country. In Thailand we can't talk about opinion or even the truth about king. Protesters want to reform for the better future for next generation.

As Thai, I don’t even know what they want. It’s just a pointless protest for me and one officer got injured from a protestor already and the police didn’t use force, they tried to stop the violence between the two parties.

if he wanted to take a yearly vacation for a couple weeks thats understandable. But leading a country all by himself from a different continent is unacceptable.
