I really enjoy your realistic appraisals. We plan to travel to Sarawak and apply for the S-MM2H visa when the borders open. We have a plan to live in Penang, but if the visa is blocked we will move to Sarawak, live more cheaply, and use the funds to live in Penang and other SE Asia locations for part of each year. All in all, very exciting for us.

Thank you. It sounds like a good plan for you, since you're able to be flexible! Best wishes for the move!

Once again, many thanks for the info. We have decided to live in Portugal because of all the uncertainty around the MM2H Program and the political weirdness.

Makes sense! Portugal is a very popular alternative and seems great!

Hi! First I would like to thank you for your instructive videos.
I'm 62, just retired, and I am contemplating to settle down in South East Asia for a peaceful and comfortable retirement. For this purpose I am gathering a lot of information about all the available retirements visas in this part of the world.
On reflexion I think the Sarawak MM2H visa days are numbered simply because it is competing with the federal MM2H program. This is a very unsane situation for Malaysia.
Wersterners are not fools and when Malaysia will reopen they will rush on the Sarawak formula like mad. Let's be realistic! Who is getting a 10000$ monthly pension in the western world???? A 10000$ pension just doesn't exist! In my country, France, pensions are capped. The ceiling is 3000€. The Sarawak pass is bound to be successful and the federal one a complete failure!
I am not a prophet but I am pretty sure that a conflict will quickly happen between kuala-lampour and Kuching.
The question is... who is going to pay for this??? Although I am very much interested in the Sarawak MM2H visa I won't rush on it...Patience is a virtue.
    As you said

If you are in a situation where you'd really like to spend a majority of your time in Malaysia over the next 5 years to either experience it temporarily or as a trial for a potential longer term situation, then I think it might be good to grab the Sarawak visa while still possible. However, if you're looking for something more serious and 5 years or less doesn't benefit you in any way, then there's no reason to rush for this visa.

I'm a MM2H holder for the past 8 years bro. I'm an expert on this matter. End of the day Malaysian Govt threw us under the bus bro. But made a U turn a month later. The trust is gone! Sarawak is going to have to comply with the Fed govt. end of the day.

I think it is very possible that Sarawak holds the line, but it is certainly very fair to say that there is no longer any trust in the system overall

300,000 malaysians commute daily to sinngapore to work with no documentation, its only fair that mm2h should be freely offered to sporeans.
