Subaru is easily the best example of how Isekai can be harmful.
The dude becomes a social recluse and consumes light novel, after light novel; learning the tropes and giving into the idea that maybe he was born in the wrong world. Then, when he suddenly appears in the Royale Capital of Lagunica, he immediately assumes he was summoned to become a hero; not because some random witch lady was obsessive over him for some reason.
As a result, he does things that get him killed, time and time again. He keeps going, forcing his feelings on everyone, and only succeeding at a real relationship when he won the ever-vigilant affection of Rem. Eventually, things came to a head when he was forced to see how weak he truly was, and was forced to see the very little progress he made as a person.
He got sucked in, and was seriously traumatized in the process. Were it not for Rem, Subaru's story would've been much darker, and become more like a cautionary tale of frail modern humans traveling to worlds they are unfit for.

Honestly I sometimes watch badly written/unoriginal Isekai is just to chill out and have it on the side and maybe cringe a little because at the end of the day it’s just something to turn my brain off too. I am a fan of some great Isekai with good storytelling and world building like ROSH, That time I got reincarnated as a Slime, Mushoku Tensei and many others.

That's fair, and I must admit I also enjoy some trashy Isekai out there that are 'bad' on paper. I just think that it is important to recognize when an Isekai is poorly written and that not falling into the trap of only watching these types of Isekai is vital

Mushoku tensei doesn't really serve as an self-insert for the viewer... well, most viewers.
The protagonist is a person that most people don't want to become, he reflects how decadent these people can become, but at the same time presents the proposal that these people can improve given a chance. although unfortunately for many these people don't deserve a second chance, just see how people don't have patience with the character, they judge and abandon the show or simply don't accept certain interactions even though these interactions have the function of giving a natural progression, the opportunity to live what he didn't experience before and finally understanding and learning what it's really about.
And even though the show just puts the protagonist to live in the otaku fantasy world, the protagonist still faces problems that a normal person will have to face in life. you have to leave your confort zone if you really want to achieve and change something. you have to move on

Agreed. As I've pointed out in the video, Mushoku Tensei is one of the only Isekai that does not leave Rudeus's old personality behind. While Rudeus gets reincarnated into a new environment and a new body, the hardships he faces are indeed similar to those one would encounter in the real world. While we aren't given a second chance like Rudeus, the purpose of the show is to show us that at every point in time, you can truly start living by establishing new relationships and by exiting your comfort zone.

Ngl that American Isekai gif is probably what'd happen if I wrote one. My main inspirations for writing in my free time include: JJBA part 7, some of the backrooms pages, Inuyasha, HXH, and DB/Z. I mainly just watch Isekai because I want something in the background while doing shit but, I fucking hate when an anime has a certain aspect Isekais are seemingly VERY guilty of and is TOTALLY not a call out to a certain show at the same time... Fan service, like sorry, I want to watch this as something in the background or to pass the time when I got nothin to do, NOT TO SEE A MF GET A HAREM BC YOU OR THE COMPANY WANNA BAG CHASE. **cough** eminence in shadow, SOA, and the average Isekai that one weirdo in every GC seems to talk about *cough*.
(The rant might've given away I'm a casual anime watcher, as the portfolio of anime for my inspirations when writing are decently old, but still, WTF IS WITH SOME OF THESE ISEKAI I'VE BEEN SENT.)

The fundamental issue is manga & anime (Japanese animations) as well as products thereof are, patently, oriented toward a Japanese otaku audience to maximize profit; thus, nothing is to be done other than boycott to realistically combat the isekai cycle.
