In Conquest, because xp is so scarce, I found it easiest to grind out levels for Mozzu by land locking archers and having her engage with them 4-6 times. Just place four units surrounding them out of their range and the poor archer is practically harmless. This allows her to gain pretty decent xp off limited enemies (though it does cost you unit mobility, so it's best to do after clearing most of the enemies on the stage first.)
+loren vigil It's not that the XP is scarce, you're supposed to choose only 12 to 14 characters to play throughout the game. But I agree that Mozu is an invaluable Archer in Conquest (she may end up better than Takumi).
+lalalabizola I think the fact that you really only can use 12 characters throughly the campaign supports the idea of xp scarcity. Investing in one character means essentially gimping another character for any further use. In Birthright, I've found it easy to play with team sets through side missions and work in new talent. After Chapter 8 of Conquest my team was essentially locked, whether I liked it or not as bringing new characters into missions was a pure death warrant without 3 units baby sitting them.
ive learnt my lesson after i failed to protect Donny from Awakening(even if i played on casual-hard mode) now playing BR on Casual-Hard and i wont make the same mistake again to Mozu
I find that it's the opposite for me. In Birthright, pairing up is beneficial, while in Conquest tandem attacks are more efficient to take down enemies, and pairing is a good way to get people killed. Chapter 9 of Conquest is a nice strategic chapter to feel good about, though I admit, I totally blew it the first time. That 2nd time though, trust me, Conquest is about striking from the shadows, not Birthright. Funny thing is, I'm better at not killing optional characters in Conquest because I have to figure out how to avoid them, and I just got through Chapter 10 (the port town) completely unscathed, without touching Oboro, Hayato, or Takumi.
I mean... it's not bad. Birthright is there to appeal to new players. Conquest is NOT for first-timers, even on normal difficulty. Conquest is better at teaching you new things such as skills.
is it a good idea to start at conquest, despite being a noob in fire emblem, my friend is choosing birthright and we basically play wanna play in different path at the same time.
It's there for casuals. Honestly I don't care because if someone just wants to experience the story it's a good option. I've been playing classic on conquest and holy hell is it taking me forever, but I enjoy the challenge and it feels rewarding.
I plan to play my Japanese version seriously (on hard casual for all 3 paths) and just go through the story on my English versions. My kanji isn't the best right now. Yes I bought the physical version of conquest/birthright for JP and ENG, but my love of physical cartridges found it worth it.
+Spamjunkie the heart seal allows u to take the class of someone whom they have an S support with, so if your spouse in the game is a basic class, then yes. although it mentions your level stays the same, so if you're a level 20 paladin and use it (with say a priest) I'd assume you'd take the priest class but still be lvl 20.
I was expecting some not too staged tips and stuff but the moment I saw "sponsored by Nintendo" I knew that wasn't happening. Nintendo videos like this always feel so stiff and cringey.
They really screwed up with talking about seals. It doesn't matter to much milking stats because you can just use second seals on those you used master seals on and keep cycling through this to get maxed out stats
50% of the tips is explained in the tutorial (first 5 chapters) 35% of the tips is not helpful 15% of the tips is helpful, but only slightly because the player will be able to realize that very early
Birthright if you like awakening style fire emblem or are new to the series, conquest if you like more older fire emblems and/or are very experienced in the series.
Honestly, if you don't "deliver" the Japanese audio to the NA market, then all this Nintendo advert is useless. I will not buy Fates if it doesn't have the Japanese voices along with it.

"Never pet a burning dog"
What game are you playing?
nintendogs
+Isyraq Abu Bakar from hell?
+Adrian Duran Warcraft II.
No seriously, there's an in-game tip that literally says "Never pet a burning dog".
midnight suns
Screw the haters, you two nerds keep being yourselves!
Pro tip for any fire emblem game: Have fun
"Like a boss" Cringe is too strong
whalemorono123 XD I can buy whatever I want
ive learnt my lesson after i failed to protect Donny from Awakening(even if i played on casual-hard mode)
now playing BR on Casual-Hard and i wont make the same mistake again to Mozu
the cringe was so strong my jaw imploded
I agree they cant act for shit
How can you go in first person view when you fight?
I find that it's the opposite for me. In Birthright, pairing up is beneficial, while in Conquest tandem attacks are more efficient to take down enemies, and pairing is a good way to get people killed.

+Hoshimaru57 Pairing still has it's benefits though. It is essentially guard stance and helps to keep units alive.
+Hoshimaru57 I used defend stance a lot in both games but in Conquest the attack stance is in fact much more needed.
I'm about to get Fire emblem fates birthwright and ive never play a fire emblem game any tips?
Is it weird that I like Nohr but play Birthright because I'm bad and its my first Fire Emblem Game?
I mean... it's not bad. Birthright is there to appeal to new players. Conquest is NOT for first-timers, even on normal difficulty. Conquest is better at teaching you new things such as skills.
Why can't I get the idea of Burt and Ernie out of my head???
is it a good idea to start at conquest, despite being a noob in fire emblem, my friend is choosing birthright and we basically play wanna play in different path at the same time.
Conquest is pretty brutal for beginners but if you want to you can
Will all the names stay the same ?
that dudes mullet is god like
Never pet a burning dog..... The man stole my line
BIRTHRIGHT. BIRTHRIGHT. BIRTHRIGHT!!!
anyone else think that the phoenix option kinda defeats the purpose of the game?
It's there for casuals. Honestly I don't care because if someone just wants to experience the story it's a good option. I've been playing classic on conquest and holy hell is it taking me forever, but I enjoy the challenge and it feels rewarding.

For new comers phoenix mode and for people who have played awakening and earlier fire emblem games have casual and classic mode..
The purpose of a game is to have fun with it.
what an amazing translation :^)
Just a question about Fates: Are you able to seal your character back to their "Basic" class, on top of resetting their base level?
no, once you class up you are locked into the new class but your level (not stats) will reset to 1. Max level is 20
+Spamjunkie well you can actually go into another class with a heart or friendship seal
+Boulbi Boulga So would I be able to use heart seal to go back to "basic" alternate class?
+Spamjunkie the heart seal allows u to take the class of someone whom they have an S support with, so if your spouse in the game is a basic class, then yes. although it mentions your level stays the same, so if you're a level 20 paladin and use it (with say a priest) I'd assume you'd take the priest class but still be lvl 20.
+Spamjunkie It is not possible to reset your character back to level one to farm skills like in Awakening. Second Seals are no longer a thing.
Where's the EU release??
+Deagrith I've been hearing April
aghh fingers crossed cheers for the info :D
There's no event tiles (well not in conquest
Mullet?
birthright ftw!
The Hoshido ftw*
If I get revelations is it tied to my 3ds or can I unlock it on the cartridge?
What if I choose revelations.
This is so cringe worthy I am disappointed in you ash and I love gamexplain
so fast!! i didn't take in any of that haha
long live the japanese version Fire Emblem IF!
I was originally going to buy conquest and play on hard cause I played FE games before. But all this chapter 10 talk is scaring me
I was expecting some not too staged tips and stuff but the moment I saw "sponsored by Nintendo" I knew that wasn't happening. Nintendo videos like this always feel so stiff and cringey.
Fun fact: When choosing which game to get first, I chose Conquest just because I thought the flags that the troops in Birthright looked stupid.
Semus
They really screwed up with talking about seals. It doesn't matter to much milking stats because you can just use second seals on those you used master seals on and keep cycling through this to get maxed out stats
+Chip Grahame unless theyre really far in the game, im pretty sure second seals arent in this game. awakening yes. but i havent found any in fates.
8/10- Birthright 7/10- Conquest
Here, giving you tips in a game we're fucking bad at.
Nohr forevermore
ash should consider acting
Don't play on phoenix mode (and casual for birthright and revelations) if you have any sense of self respect and dignity.
I agree on Phoenix mode but casual is fine for beginners or people that aren't good at the game
Doesn't change my point some people need to ease in
well that was awkward
i regret buying conquest
Really? I find it exhilarating!
so many bad memes .
Also it is actually odd to see a actually video game journalist on a game spot video .
Or how about I buy fucking neither because no one will give me a good enough reason to
50% of the tips is explained in the tutorial (first 5 chapters)
35% of the tips is not helpful
15% of the tips is helpful, but only slightly because the player will be able to realize that very early
Rex T Literally the truth.
They gloss over and show the fact mages ignore sand.
-which is also mentioned in Awakening-
Everybody else is struggling between PlayStation or Xbox. Meanwhile I’m struggling between conquest or birthlight
Birthright if you like awakening style fire emblem or are new to the series, conquest if you like more older fire emblems and/or are very experienced in the series.
>,< gg
lol
As cringe as this was the tips were useful.
Best tip: dont listen to ign's tips
Cringe 101.
Cringe comp 2016
A lot of good info, however could have done without the cringe inducing jokes
Honestly, if you don't "deliver" the Japanese audio to the NA market, then all this Nintendo advert is useless.
I will not buy Fates if it doesn't have the Japanese voices along with it.
Useless for you maybe, most people don't care
+mrphangoldwing Sucks for you. Have fun missing out on a great game!
+jade d hahahahahaha
+mrphangoldwing WEEB!
+mrphangoldwing yup i agree
