    Is the 85W PD of OCW dock enough for let’s say while editing?

    • @TheEverydayDad
      @TheEverydayDad  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thats a good point and something I should have mentioned. I only really consider the dock for ports purposes. If I were doing bigger cpu/gpu intensive tasks I would still have the computer plugged into power.

      There are docks out there that supply 130W. Dell has one.

      Found it on Amazon "B0916F5DTM" (TB3) but "B0B13Y2QVW" (TB4) might be a better choice. One would expect very little compatibility issues with Dell's own docks :-)

    for the newer XPS models, imo a good thunderbolt dock is essential. The Dell WD19TB is imo the best one. No need for power cable, plenty of and extendability, and the power button on the dock can turn on/off your XPS, so there is never a need to open your computer, if you use an external monitor and accessories.

    Usually, Logitech includes a unifying receiver dongle with every wireless mouse and keyboard. You must have one to get the wireless devices to operate. Some of their Bluetooth exclusive units might not need one but they are usually included with them as well. Logitech hands them out like chicklets! 😁 There is usually a panel under the keyboard where the batteries area and it's tucked in there in a fitting for it. or it is in the battery compartment tucked in vertically. It's easy to miss if you're not looking for it. Of course, if you are like me and have a Logitech keyboard all the way back to the 1980's you have an entire parts container of them. I have 15!

    As someone with carpel tunnel I was told to stop using the wrist rest and the rest pad for the mousepad. Where you rest it is your carpel tunnel area. Best thing to do is make sure your chair and keyboard are at the right height and take lots of breaks and stretches.

    The receiver is included with both logitech peripherals and you simply need to use their software to "unify" them into one of the receiver :)

    I highly recommend the Osprey Arcane Large Day Backpack. Very sleek and understated but you get YKK zippers since Osprey uses exclusively YKK on all their bags, and I have never wanted for nice/neat storage options. it even has a very discreet water bottle pocket that I use everyday for my 18oz water bottle. I doesn't look like much, just don't let anyone touch it because the materials are very obviously premium 😅

    Great info. Thanks. Two questions: 1) Is that Thunderbolt 3 Dock at around the 8:30 mark a surge protector as well? 2) That backpack style bag you show does look nice, but do you know of a good black canvas or leather sleeve or thin travel case of some kind for a laptop that would work well for this, that is not a backpack style but does look good/professional, that also has some kind of a zip up pocket or two to keep the power chord and included dongle in, maybe a few other things but at least those two, when I go out with the laptop? Thanks again, and great work! Thumbs up!

    I ended up returning my 9710 and grabbed a 16gb macbook pro m1. Sooo happy to have switched to apple. The 9710 wasn't performing quite like I was hoping. Sleep issues, Bluetooth mouse lag issues, over heating, very low battery life etc.
