XPS is not a company. They can only put the company's logo on it. Not everyone knows that XPS laptops are from Dell. They want people to know the company. There are morons who think iphone and apple are different companies. So it makes sense why they put the company logo instead of the product logo. Every company does that.
@@natep6729xps logo on top makes sense. Take apple for example. Their marketing is top notch. They make expensive stuff that appeals to average consumers right when they see the logo. Putting the xps logo on top would make it appear as a special class of laptops to less knowledgeable people around who think Dell makes only cheaper laptops and some gaming focussed under the alienware brand. Around where I live, empty vessels go around raving on about their Macbooks and think Dell's expensive models are heavy gaming beasts. I mean to imply, they don't know the XPS line exists.
Hey man, been like a month since I came across your channel, and I gotta say, I love the vibe and the simplicity you put in your videos. Its very welcoming yet professional and you make sure that its more about the experience rather than the specs. Love it! Keep it up!! Love to see you cross a million. I'm sure I'll happen soon
11:55 It's essentially $70, not $60. I've noticed you round down with prices, most recently on the MacBook Pro 13" videos (instead of saying it's $1800, you'll say it's $1700).
Hippedtech 0229 I wanted the work config so that I could get the 2060 with the FHD+ to save on battery life, but for me personally, it ended up being about the same price as the UHD in home due to some special discounts/promos I was able to get. So all in all not bad but if they had that in the home version I would’ve been able to save even more!
Gotta say, so happy I discovered your videos... Really like the simple, honest, & down to earth review style. It just works without the sensationalism. Been adamantly following your videos on the new Dell's & you've helped me make my mind up on the 17" for work. Also gave me the confidence to consider changing components like SSD's or RAM in the laptop which previously I wouldn't have dreamed of.
I had a chance to review both the New Dell XPS 15 2020 and the Dell XPS 15 2019 versions personally. My only complaint about the new Dell XPS 15 2020 version is that the keyboard is good, but not as good as the 2019 version. I love the keyboard travel, and the power button feels SOLID on the older version of the XPS. My two complaints about the older XPS 15 is that it supports only ONE M.2 Slots, and that the speakers are on the downside instead of having top firing speakers like the 2020 version does. Hey Dell, are you listening ?
@@BernieKMedia I love it and it's been working great! My only minor complaint is that it's heavy. I wouldn't want to travel outside the house much with it. Besides that it's awesome
@@danitsvetkov hi, never! I’ve never had that problem of over heating. I love it so much I also got the XPS 13. My only “complaint” is that it’s too heavy to carry. I leave at home and travel with the XPS 13.
Awesome, did you get the FHD+ or UHD? I am really, really hesitant about that. I am worried that I could somehow see the lack of pixel on the 17 inch if I go FHD + to have a much better battery life.
I got the UHD 4k version because I've had a 1080p 15.6" laptop for years now and I wanted something with a higher pixel density. Since this laptop has a bigger screen in a chassis smaller than my current laptop, the UHD display made sense for me. I know a lot of people are worried about battery life, but I'm used to my laptop not being able to last more than a few hours off charge and I almost always keep it plugged in anyways.
Mine came in yesterday and it had zero problems with the trackpad, and I actually was surprised by how big the trackpad is! Seeing it in videos does not do it justice. Anyway, I'm fortunate mine is in pristine condition.
@@socialzombie234 Great to hear, looking forward to getting mine. I've been waiting 5 years to purchase a high end laptop like this. The original XPS 15 is the device that got me interested in computers, but I couldn't afford one until now.
Hey Everyday dad. Before you return this one, can you do a quick video on what gaming on the 6 core + 1650 ti version of this is like? Then do a comparison with the 2060 version? Cheers.
I bought a xps-17 $2999 version -trackpad a little loose but doesn’t click, the 4K screen is incredible and much more clear than I thought. People say you don’t notice the difference between the hd and 4K but it is very clear. The laptop is “dense” it’s not that big but it is quite heavy. Other than that it has been great with very good thermal performance.
Dude, many reviewers of the xps have the "track pad being loose issue". I personally purchased and returned 2 XPS's due to this same issue 3 years ago! I want this laptop but it's a deal breaker for me
I love my 7590 with the GTX 1650, but that RTX 2060 with the 1080p option is so tempting. The battery drain and the pad is the only thing that's stopping me from buying this too.
Quick question. I’m curious because I know you shoot in 4K. Why do you feel it’s not of value to you to have the touchscreen? I understand that it drains battery at a higher rate, but why don’t you feel the 4K touchscreen is a good idea? This topic might make for a good channel video. I’m in the market for this computer and having a hard time with the decision of touchscreen or not. I love my iPad touchscreen but if I’m primarily editing photos and videos on this laptop I’m trying to justify the touchscreen even is I could deal with shorter battery life. I think making a video on this would be helpful because a lot of us are buying this after being told the resolution for picture editing and videos is so much higher on the touchscreen model. Have you seen both screens? Your thoughts are greatly appreciated. I appreciate your content and am a channel subscriber. Keep up the great work.
If you are a content creator using this machine - it is incredible. BUT! Beware the color saturation; the audio enhancements; the Dell WIN11 install and its issues in GPU throttling forcing a clean reset for those unlucky (me and others); and the clicking/popping sound in the speakers that remains unsolved. If you are ok doing a manual WIN11 install from Microsoft AND updating all the drivers AND ensuring the Nvidia card and drivers are up to date and set to gaming and ultra-performance, the XPS 17 9720 rights itself and is INSANELY good. 1080 footage at about 15 to 20 seconds per real time; 4K rendering about 5 to 7 seconds to 1 real time, depending on edit additions. That good.
I'm a Thinkpad fan and always thought Macbooks had the best look of any laptop. So I'm clearly not an XPS fanboy. But I have to say I think this new XPS design is the best looking laptop out there. bar none. I receenly got an Alienware monitor which are made by Dell. I do think they have questionable build quality because it self destructed one night. But to Dell's credit they had swapped it out within 48 hours of me invoking a warranty claim.

Good video❗️Dell’s Customer Service drove me to Apple in 2012 after buying the 2012 Dell XPX 17”. I am very happy with Apple and I still Dell a big Thank you for driving me to Apple❗️
I really appreciate that you are using the version with the 1650 ti graphics instead of the completely tricked out version that (2060) a lot of reviewers on TH-cam were sent for FREE and not always a realistic option for regular people who may not need that much power and/or want to spend that much money!
I received my 9700 yesterday, and my trackpad is fine, but the sound is terrible. The bass vibrates the chassis. Solved with a Bluetooth speaker though. That being said, I love it!
I have bought this laptop and unfortunately, it has many quality issues. The sound of the device started dropping only a few days after purchase. After which it started to have issues with the touchpad, it would go to sleep and I was not able to turn it on for hours. After endless conversations with customer support and many diagnostic videos later they sent an engineer to replace the hard drive, touchpad, and motherboard. The very next day after the replacement the screen went totally black and that was the end of it. I requested a replacement unit but Dell have been unhelpful and they refused to do so. I have been trying for 5 months now to get this fixed but without any success. I am currently stuck with a device that does not work. Overall, awful experience with the device and the tech support of Dell. Avoid it as much as possible.
I really enjoy watching your videos whether i am interested in the product you are reviewing or not You have a great presentation method and I love your sense of humor you throw in here and there. I think this video is the first one where I have seen you without your hat. I would never recognize you on the street without it. Look forward to your next video.
I have 5 questions with Dell XPS 17 : 1. Can I use two power bricks to solve the charging problem ? 2. Can I disable the dedicated GPU somehow ? 3. Can I use high refresh external display for gaming ? 4. Can I use e-GPU with it ? 5. Does the battery continue to drain while using e-GPU with an External Display ?
Hey mate! Great job in posting amazing content! Is there any possibility to compare Dell XPS 17" vs. Precision 17" 7750? There are absolutely NO comparision reviews yet and would love if it comes from you! Im planning to buy a laptop for myself for content creation but am confused between these two 😪
Ok, you've convinced me. I've probably watched every video on this laptop, but your video pushed me over the edge, 😂 and onto the Dell website. 😂 Just placed my order....17" xps i7 10875H 32gb. I've added the 4 yr warranty, so i will be safe until 2024. They are on back order and I will get it in August...Can't wait! Your videos are awesome!
@@TheVintageGlamm its a beautiful laptop. The picture and speed are awesome! My screen did give me an error blue code after installing the "MX Master 3" mouse by logitech. Then it took forever to try and get it off that screen, but other than that, all is smooth. Im still using the mouse...i did feel the need to purchase a laptop holder with built in fans. I added the 4 yr insurance/geek help, which was also pricey, but for the laptop's $3, 000 price, i felt it was needed. I'll be safe until 2024.
I would avoid Dell like the plague - I ordered the 9500 after watching these videos , so far I have a buzzing and broken right speaker, a loose trackpad and a bizarre problem where when the laptop is sleeping it gets hot starts up and crashes which required a hard reset to fix. Dell's customer service is shocking and I am spending days being passed from pillar to post - I have now asked for a return and a refund - god knows how long that will take. So sad because the screen on this device was amazing and I loved the idea of being able to upgrade. I am in the lucky position of having the MacBook Pro 16 to compare this to and I can tell you now they are worlds apart in terms of quality control.
Dell owed me $200 back on this laptop and wasted I 20 hours of my time trying to get it back. I ended up getting the case manager fired, reported to his boss, and got more cash back for the inconvenience. Dell support is not always on point :(
Hi Kyle, I have been extremely harassed by Dell’s Advance resolution team member named Allen and faced huge suffering, distress. As you could able to get a resolution, can I contact you for some advice. Thanks.
@@RaC09 Hey! Sorry I didn't see this until now. Try getting to different dell team members and different managers. My first manager sucked and I had to guilt the representative into letting me see her manager instead of the one assigned to my case. Be polite but make a fuss too. Don't go away and make it easier for them to fix your problem than to deal with you. They would not process my refund so I had to explain to them that i would be unable to pay bills without that money and that i was desperate, that seemed to get through to them. Some of the team members simply don't care but if you can get through to the right person, they'll follow up and help you. Hope this helps :)
@@RaC09 Try to get through to the manager Murtuza Kazimi Analyst, US Query and Issue Management at Dell. He was a great guy and really helped me out. Don't mention that I gave out his name pls though lol
Hi, you can round the edges with a sandpaper, so your arms will not hurt that much, and you will not lose warranty with this... you can also put some supports under the laptop near the screen, so that the laptop is more inclined, which will facilitate typing and better angle to stop hurting your arms on the edges.
@@TheEverydayDad Hi Dad, if you return the notebook to be refunded, obviously, but you can round just a bit to soften the frontal edge, it will be almost imperceivable, and for the warranty of the components, they would not argue, they will not notice it. It is just a slight round, just pass the sandpaper a bit, try it and keep going more until perceptible, and your arms will stop cutting. Macbooks also have this problem with the sharp aluminum.
Hey, thank you for your review, you just made me realize I should get the XPS 17 because you said you feel the thermals are way better than on the 15, I still have a last question, do you think the FHD+ screen is enough resolution for the 17, like does that bother you maybe seeing the pixel? Cause personally i would much rather have the battery life.
There are basically 3 things to consider regarding the display: 1. Color accuracy --> Go for the 4k screen if you do image editing or video cutting. The resolution itself is not that important for my point of view. 2. Power consumption --> the FHD screen needs less than half of the power consumption of the 4k screen 3. Working outside --> the FHD screen is non-glossy, which is way better for working outside or in trains. The 4k screen is glossy, which is a show-stopper for me.
@@manuelkln1736 Thanks I will probably go for the FHD version even though i am going to wait at least for a black friday sale, cause in Europe right now it's quite expensive. But I agree with your points, I actually do think that in my case I don't need that much color accuracy, I am a web developer though but I don't work that much with code nowadays so that resolution is probably not that important. Also UHD would make the giant battery quite useless, which is a shame.
@@TheEverydayDad I half-jokingly, half-seriously would suggest getting your eyes checked if you can't tell the difference really obviously on a 17-inch screen. I can tell the difference, though it's subtle, between the dpi/resolution of my pixelbook (12.3", 2400x1600) vs my pixel slate (12.3", 3000x2000), and that's *way* less of a difference than the screen resolution here. Things really just look much granier when you halve the number of pixels when you have something this large sitting as close to your face as a laptop, even a 17" one, does. Now if battery life is top priority, that might be more important, but I'd be shocked if you didn't immediately notice a difference if someone gave you one of these for a week, then one day randomly while you were asleep switched it out for the higher-res version without telling you.
Dealing with Dell was nightmare. My screen stopped working after 3 weeks. It was shipped back for a warranty claim. They refused to honor that warranty and said there must have been an internal crack on the screen. $330 for a repair. Hopefully they've gotten better but I doubt it
Dang it. You were right about the sharp edge on the wrist. I've had this laptop for 24 hours and It's actually starting to flare up my carpal tunnel in my wrists, that I haven't dealt with in YEARS. Also, my touchpad is loose & clicky on the bottom right & left corners. The screen is BEAUTIFUL, but I cant let a $3400 laptop flare up my carpal tunnel in my wrists. GRRRRR, I'm so disappointed.
What really bothers me is the small RAM. My five year old notebook already has 16 GB and that is the maximum for the XPS 17. They should offer 32 GB or even 64 GB as an option. Especially for people who really need a desktop replacement. The 7750 offers up to 128 GB with a 4 x 32 GB configuration. Of course I could replace the 8 GB modules in the XPS 17 with 32 GB modules, but why not offer that in the first place? Why do I have to open my notebook and throw away two 8 GB modules?
They do, but it varies by region. In US, in the business web section, you can configure it as 64GB straight from factory. In EU, it's only 16GB and you have to upgrade it yourself. The upgrade costs the same as buying such kit (300 +/- dollars/euros), so it's only hassle at least. The XPS 17 and its Precision sibling seem to be in some odd limited capacity at the moment, I can't even buy it in my country through Dell yet, and in most of EU, you can't either outside of the bussiness section. It's only US/Canada where the availability is good and with full configuration options. The early adopter issues (and the fact pre-release models were tested only month ago) point to quite a rushed release.
I'm thinking about getting the UHD Display, but my biggest concern with it is not battery life but the glossy screen! In the summer I often work outside, so that might be a problem. Although this display does not seem to be as glossy as others.
Got mine. Trackpad is fine. Doesn't look perfect when you inspect it... one side seems to travel deeper, but unnoticeable while you're using it. I'm not a big fan of the keyboard though - hoping its just something I need to get used to.
Really happy about the XPS 17 I got last week until this black screen I got today on this laptop and external monitors. 40minutes on hold with support so far. Let’s see what happens......apparently one can overcharge the 👨🏻💻 laptop. Fixed.
Wow! your tip saved me $400 + extra battery life. I too was frustrated because I never use the touch feature and find it annoying for the reasons you mentioned. Thank you!
Dear Everyday Dad, What was your experience with Dell to return the laptop and the Dell quality control issues ? Did you replace this or just return it ?
The WiFi / Network performance is impacted by the Killer Software Suite. This has been a known issue for Dell systems using the Killer Network cards and the installed Killer Suite for some time. The XPS 9500 and 9700 are no different. When comparing WiFi / Network performance against other systems the Dells are usually 300 to 400% slower! If you uninstall the Killer software and use the Killer remover software found on the Killer Site @t and then download and install only the Drivers your WiFi / Network performance will improve considerably!
My XPS 15 with the UHD+ screen came yseterday (UK) and has a loose trackpad and a dent on the bottom grill. I spent over 2 hours on the phone to Dell trying to arrange a replacment. At one point, I was talking to tech support who put me on hold to transfer me to customer support only the hold failed so I was treated to 10 minutes of customer services and tech support having an interesting exchange over which department would take responcabillity for the replacment! Several calls later and I was still being pushed between the 2 departments without a resolution. I took my complaint to Twitter where it was picked up by @DellCares who delt with it within an hour via Twitter DM and are sending me a replacment. I can keep this one until the replacment comes and just send this one back with the included shipping label. I have to wait until monday for it to all be approved but here's hoping. Seems that Dell have some way to go for customer service. Pretty poor for the customer to be in the middle of an internal dispute!
I have pretty much the same issue, I've emailed them and waiting for a response. I'm a content creator and the monitor is the most important for me but unfortunately my monitor is crap... colour banding and backlight bleeding.
I got one and returned it just after 4 hours of use. I recently uploaded a short benchmark and quality issue video if you are interested. I won't buy a Dell again. 2nd time I got disappointed by this brand.
Maybe they're asking you to contact tech support for a reason. Such as to check if your pc is really broken or if there's a driver fix or whatever. Lots of people are abusing return policies. Which is one of the reason why manufacturers have to increase the price, penalizing everybody for a limited number of abusers.
Your recent videos really helped me to narrow down unlike others which just bring more dilemma. Have you personally experienced 4k vs FHD of XPS 17, which one you recommend?
if they recognises it why give them out to paying costumers? I got mine delivered few days ago and too many problems already. The trackpad is not working properly and wobbly and the 4k monitor has colour banding and backlight bleeding. If you go to forums and ask for technical support they will ignore the fact that they have problems with their monitor so I'm returning mine. I'm not alone who has these issues.
I'll be buying the XPS 17 in a few months... just waiting for Dell to deal with the trackpad issue and drop the price a bit (cause in France it is much more expensive than in the US)
@@icanmakeeverythingilovedie9861 I doubt there are going to be sales for this laptop in the next few months. People in Canada received a message saying that their orders are going to be delayed by two weeks because this laptop is selling like hotcakes and they are having inventory shortages.
Thanks, I had the new XPS 15" which had issues and sent it back. I was waiting for some info on the 17" XPS and you hit all the marks. Unfortunately, I had a Dell credit to use and couldn't wait on an XPS 17 review and purchased the Alienware M15 R3 at a great discount. I am waiting on that unit to come in but will keep the XPS 17" in mind if I have any issues with the M15 R3. Cross my fingers. Interestingly the XPS 17" is right around the same size as the Alienware 15" Hum...
Hey I'm loving your video series about xps 17 but I was wondering, there are any dell (or non dell) dock fully compatible with this laptop? For what I know standard docks support 100W usb-c charging but this laptop is 130W. Maybe a video about this topic would solve my doubt ;)
Does anyone know if its possible to remove single buttons just from the keyboard without having to remove the complete keyboard??? For example if I want to switch from QWERTY to QWERTZ
Let’s face it, ever since Dell stopped being a mainly for business use producer, which was some time ago, quality control has suffered. Mass producing almost anything inevitably ends up in corners being cut. That said, if you’re going to have quality control issues, you should expect consumers to expect a no hassle return policy. People shouldn’t be forced to settle just because a company feels it’s ok to cut corners. That’s only acceptable if you’re buying a used or refurbished product.
Strange you're saying you were happy with the temps. Many people have been complaining about CPU idle at 80 degrees. And people trying to undervolt. How do you think this xps handles editing 4k raw footage? For example codecs like from RED cameras. Alexas. Black magic etc?
The business side also ships with win10 pro, not win home with all the add on garbage. One thing you need to be aware in the touch screen is a flat hard glass screen. The non touch is a “soft” screen without the glass touch panel and with a plastic stepped bezel around the edge. I’d pay more for the touch. Btw, can you check to confirm if the carbon fiber top meets the aluminum body perversely around the hinge? The only one I saw in store had receding top corners around the hinges like a design, molding flaw. The CF and AL parts did not meet edge to edge like on the 15 or 13
Thanks for the great info. Really helpful. I’m still fence sitting between XPS 17 and MBP 16. And of course does it make sense to get an intel Mac right now? May be a non-issue? This would be my main computer and would like it to last a while. Hearing of all these customer service issues and QA issues at Dell doesn’t invoke confidence that’s for sure. Right now Dell projects shipping in August if I order today. One thing Dell did offer was a free upgrade to 4 yr Pro level support from their regular/standard 3yr support. Does anyone have experience with this? I’m wondering if this would be advantageous given all the concerns.....?
Checked Dells website , configurations of xps17 is so messed up, you can have powerful processor with no ram and so on. Dell what are you thinking. Its time to introduce 64 ram options...
would you say this model is still good to buy in 2021 if i can get it during a good sale? ive had my eye on it, the screen is too beautiful. id only be using it for mainly everyday tasks like browsing, streaming netflix, youtube etc. and photo storage.
I have used most of the laptops out there from several manufacturers, but I never had quality control issues or returning issues with anyone other than Dell. It sucks and gives a hard time. I just wonder why Dell pours so much into designing a product but not into it's quality control. When it comes to Dell laptops, I learnt that it is always best to buy after a few months of the product release. Initial batch has always had quality issues.
Hey, you said you connected the notebook through USB-C to your screen. Do you know if you get the full 100W of charge out of it? Last year XPS had a limitation on USB-C charging of 65W. That's kind of a dealbreaker for me.
hoodie hope you can help my wife uses a MacBook for her court reporter software .she has to load windows on the mac on order to get it to run.the reason she uses the mac is for the audio because her software records audio while she types .would you know if the dell would have decent recording quality with the mac she does not require an external mike .i would like to say you have been very helpful with your videos i just watched the one where you upgraded your dell and i learned so much in a short time keep em coming thanks pat
Is it worth picking up last year's XPS 15 over this year's XPS 13? I haven't owned a laptop in several years cause I do everything on my phone. But decided to get a laptop recently. I ordered the new XPS 13 9300 from Dell and I got a good price on it due to my employer discount. I got extended warranty, etc. But I can get a speced out last year's XPS 15 for $200 more with same extended warranty, etc. Is last year's XPS 15 a better deal?
I’ll be getting my xps 9700 on delivered on Friday ....I’m worried about the Dell customer service reviews . Apple has been good to me in the past with customer service and quality control hasn’t been an issue either. I did take your advice and went to the business side and got 16 and 512 & FHD display . I did take your advice and got the 4 year pro service extended warranty includes accidental damage . Any thoughts about Dell product and service ?
Honestly... i hope for your sake that you don't have any issues and don't need to deal with dell customer service. Im now on my 3rd xps 15 7590 due to overheating and other issues and the customer service is absolutely ridiculous. You have to raise your issue in about 4 different places just to get them to respond. I had to bombard their various customer facing platforms for weeks before getting a response.
Jon BonBon , The XPS 17 was returned not even 24 hours after it arrived. An annoying issue, I could not lift the top to open with one hand. But after two and half hours with pro support , trying to resolve the display issues...no mater what ..all streaming video...all the people looked orangy red. TH-cam video of The Obama’s...they looked like Oompa Loompas ...orangy red no matter if it was streaming on Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video. The pro support was unable to figure it out and could not get it to go into safe mode. He called it before I did to return the XPS17 . I boxed it and took it back to fedex and within a week, the credit was back on my card. Dell obviously has far too many quality control issues. I’ll stay a loyal Apple customer. I ve never had a moments grief with any of my Apple products
Hey, thanks for the review. Im thinking of buying laptop that can even replace desktop and do all sorts of small to big stuffs (International student, moves around a lot). Would this XPS 17 be the right one? Still deciding cuz of its high price... but damn your review and strong recommendation persuades me so badly!
If u don't do anything intensive, a normal quad core ultra book will be good enough. If you really need the performance, you can take a look at gaming laptops cuz they have better price for the specs
Great video! Can you make a video where you edit another video using the Dell XPS 17? Like what you did with the base model of the XPS 15. Would really love to see that! Thanks!
Could you tell me the exact weight of your XPS 17 configuration? Dell just tells the weight for the minimum and maximum configuration. Your configuration is the one I favor. Thank you. Great vids!

Would you recommend this for a causal heavy gamer like fort nite and ori and everything else on game pass on the dell xps 17. Or would the razor blade 14 be better?
Dell seems to be having issues delivering the XPS 17 to Canada, multiple people with issues on /r/dell. Myself, got a 2 months to deliver... only getting on August ugh hahah
For me, the 9700 and 9500 are hard to open. I mean hold it down and find a spot to pry open the lid hard to open! We had the 9500 for my son and he could not open it.

Hi. Could you please check if there are audio issues when connected to non Bluetooth 5.0 devices. Having issues with headphones with Bluetooth lower than 5.0
The only thing the XPS lineup needs IMO is its own logo on top, in place of the Dell Logo.
Very much agree. Why put the XPS logo on the bottom of these?
I was thinking the same. There is already a Dell logo on the back of the laptop.
XPS is not a company. They can only put the company's logo on it. Not everyone knows that XPS laptops are from Dell. They want people to know the company. There are morons who think iphone and apple are different companies. So it makes sense why they put the company logo instead of the product logo. Every company does that.
Nate p that’s not something Lenovo did with the thinkpad laptops. Ig it just depends sometimes.
Oh god thank you for informing me I need to go to the business page for the 1080p screen! I thought I was crazy!
same. done and done
11:55 It's essentially $70, not $60. I've noticed you round down with prices, most recently on the MacBook Pro 13" videos (instead of saying it's $1800, you'll say it's $1700).
EXACTLY!! Prices should be rounded up, not down.
Plus tax.
Because Prices can change depending where you live
@@battlebuddy4517 That has nothing to do with how $1799 MSRP becomes $1700 MSRP. It's straight up misleading.
Amen to the home/work config differences!!
Yeah its pretty darn important right?
I’m getting a business config bcuz it’s the same spec as the home version but there’s a 200 discount. And I heard there’s pretty much no diff
My only complaint about the new Dell XPS 15 2020 version is that the
keyboard is good, but not as good as the 2019 version. I love the
keyboard travel, and the power button feels SOLID on the older version
of the XPS.
My two complaints about the older XPS 15 is that it
supports only ONE M.2 Slots, and that the speakers are on the downside
instead of having top firing speakers like the 2020 version does.
Hey Dell, are you listening ?
Thanks for the review! I just got my DELL XPS 17 and fortunately the track pad is working!
How has your experience been after a few months? I want to purchase one, but im worried hearing about the customer support issues and qc problems

My XPS 17 is arriving tomorrow, so we'll see if there's an issue with the trackpad, hopefully not
Awesome, did you get the FHD+ or UHD? I am really, really hesitant about that. I am worried that I could somehow see the lack of pixel on the 17 inch if I go FHD + to have a much better battery life.
Here’s hoping yours comes in perfect condition!
Cheers.
Just got mine yesterday, the backspace key feels a little looser and louder than other keys. Not sure if that is normal.
I love his videos. But his face shockingly resembles Jim Moriarty from Sherlock series. I'm scared, my brain is so confused
No he looks like he's Dave2D's step brother.
Definitely they feel very similar in their style and face.
And sounds like Harvey Specter
i was thinking the same thing!!
Massively agree with the quality control problems and more especially the audio enhancements they do.
I bought a xps-17 $2999 version
-trackpad a little loose but doesn’t click, the 4K screen is incredible and much more clear than I thought.
I have an XPS, but the keyboards on ThinkPad are just amazing.
tnetroP I prefer Thinkpad’s body instead of XPS’ carbon fiber. The screen though, XPS hands down.
If I didn’t have a apple ecosystem I would totally buy this instead of my MacBook Pro 13 inch looks good! If I had money would buy both :p
I would go for Razer instead of Dell XPS

I have 5 questions with Dell XPS 17 :

I'll be safe until 2024.
how is the laptop holding up?
Right? I’ve never had a problem like this with my MacBooks.
Dell owed me $200 back on this laptop and wasted I 20 hours of my time trying to get it back. I ended up getting the case manager fired, reported to his boss, and got more cash back for the inconvenience. Dell support is not always on point :(
Dang that sucks, I’m glad to hear it worked out in the end though 👍
Hi Kyle,
I have been extremely harassed by Dell’s Advance resolution team member named Allen and faced huge suffering, distress.
Hi, you can round the edges with a sandpaper, so your arms will not hurt that much, and you will not lose warranty with this... you can also put some supports under the laptop near the screen, so that the laptop is more inclined, which will facilitate typing and better angle to stop hurting your arms on the edges.
Yeah I’m pretty sure if I sand the computer that would void the warranty.
Happy to hear, because I just ordered one.
I dont think you’d really be able to tell much difference between the FHD and UHD option.
@@TheEverydayDad Alright will probably go with FHD+ then, thanks a lot of for your answer!
There are basically 3 things to consider regarding the display:
1. Color accuracy --> Go for the 4k screen if you do image editing or video cutting. The resolution itself is not that important for my point of view.
2. Power consumption --> the FHD screen needs less than half of the power consumption of the 4k screen
Hopefully they've gotten better but I doubt it
Great info. I returned mine due to the crackling speakers. Trackpad was a little loose as well.
love your reviews and i adore the design of the xps series tho i have bought a surface pro 7 lately and it fits me better as a student
I’m glad they helped! But you have to get what works for you!
Thanks for shining light on some underreported aspects
I'm thinking about getting the UHD Display, but my biggest concern with it is not battery life but the glossy screen! In the summer I often work outside, so that might be a problem. Although this display does not seem to be as glossy as others.
I'm debating the same and everything I've heard from others has been to go with the FHD display since it's much less reflective in bright lighting
@@risingsun_gt I'm in the same boat. I hear the 4k display is hard on the gpu and cpu.
Fixed.

@@duchenedesignsolutions7036 I didn't buy it because of that, I need resolution, pun intended
Dear Everyday Dad,
What was your experience with Dell to return the laptop and the Dell quality control issues ?
Best Laptop for programming 👍👍👍
Your recent videos really helped me to narrow down unlike others which just bring more dilemma. Have you personally experienced 4k vs FHD of XPS 17, which one you recommend?
I love Dell Computer 🖥 ❤️
Dell already recognizes the trackoad issue and replacing the laptop if you have the issues also all new produced unit don't have the issue anymore
if they recognises it why give them out to paying costumers? I got mine delivered few days ago and too many problems already. The trackpad is not working properly and wobbly and the 4k monitor has colour banding and backlight bleeding. If you go to forums and ask for technical support they will ignore the fact that they have problems with their monitor so I'm returning mine. I'm not alone who has these issues.
I'll be buying the XPS 17 in a few months... just waiting for Dell to deal with the trackpad issue and drop the price a bit (cause in France it is much more expensive than in the US)
The best time to buy would be around any major holiday.
Black Friday in July, if they do it, would be a good time. Assuming they have that in France.

Thanks for your videos! How many external monitors can be connected to the xps 17 and will each of the monitors use the gpu? Thank you
The business side also ships with win10 pro, not win home with all the add on garbage.
RAM is not soldered so you can upgrade yourself, but I agree their configurations are whack.
Dell has acknowledged the trackpad flaw and said all newly shipped devices have fixed this issue.
Has Dell fixed the trackpad problem? I'm not buying it if it still hasn't been sorted.
Do you ever wish you got the 4K display? Do things look pretty crisp?
Wondering the same thing. Many reviewers state the 17" is better with 4K but I wanted better battery life.
would you say this model is still good to buy in 2021 if i can get it during a good sale? ive had my eye on it, the screen is too beautiful. id only be using it for mainly everyday tasks like browsing, streaming netflix, youtube etc. and photo storage.

Im honestly thinking of getting this just for how it looks tbh
It's not clear to me what the big problem is here. Was it the track pad that is expected to be fixed with the replacement?
Can you update RAM and SSD yourself on these things? I'm considering buying one. Does the back side just come off with screws?
Great video! Can you make a video where you edit another video using the Dell XPS 17?
Like what you did with the base model of the XPS 15.
Would really love to see that! Thanks!
Wow no number pad? Shocked
Could you tell me the exact weight of your XPS 17 configuration? Dell just tells the weight for the minimum and maximum configuration. Your configuration is the one I favor. Thank you. Great vids!
I just got a XPS 13 2 in 1 (9370) From dell outlet, It was a canceled order from what I was told. and it came with some scratches on the left side where the thunderbolt port is. and the laptop's bios said it was made on the 18th.. Maybe something is up with QC over there atm
I would love it if Dell could make the logo on the lid to shine bright like the logo on apple laptops but with a blue-ish color similar to the millennium falcon in star wars.. That would be so cool..
Have you had any problems with using web browser hardware acceleration enabled? I had to disable it b/c videos on certain websites wouldn't play.
hello, i am trying to find the right laptop for a long time.. no gaming, no video editing, no autocad or render work.. i will only use laptop for financial trading stock programs that need high CPU, SSD and ram. and laptop will be used from 09:00 am to 11 pm // all day nearly of course not will battery, always plugded in. i read some coil whine problems abaout this model.. can you advice this model for me ? heating /cooling issued and stable performance? thank you
Woah from 20 k to 150!!! Well done 🙏
Thanks!
Thumbs up for honesty
Did you get a replacement XPS 9700 unit yet? If so how is it? Thanks
I’ve seen on Reddit about some DIY methods to solve the trackpad issues. Hope you can have a video of fixing it by yourself because on reddit they said its only take abt 20 mins+ to do that
I just ordered this laptop 👨💻 32gb 1tb i7 8 core only reason I purchased this was because I got a -$451 discount paid $2840 in total. I wanted the 15in but went with the 17in cause of the discount and the better cooling
Dang that sucks, hopefully they’ll get it to you soon.
God r/Dell is a cesspool of complaints. You'd think Dell is the worst brand on the planet if you listened to them.
For me, the 9700 and 9500 are hard to open. I mean hold it down and find a spot to pry open the lid hard to open! We had the 9500 for my son and he could not open it.
My first time seeing TEDD with no hat on...weiiiiiiiird!
Dell has never really hit me in all the right places for me to like them from their earlier Latitudes.
Lenovo and asus is garbage.
NVENC changes the game. Premiere and Resolve saw a HUGE jump in performance when nvidia started pushing that software feature to allow hardware encoding usin GTX and RTX cards
Hi buddy if I can know what camera do you use for making this vidio.?
Hi. Could you please check if there are audio issues when connected to non Bluetooth 5.0 devices. Having issues with headphones with Bluetooth lower than 5.0
