Your harvest videos are great. I was wondering how you plant your potatoes. Do you plant 1 seed potato per hill? And about how many do you plant? I'm just trying to get my numbers right to be able to share. Thanks.
Candace Wilson Hey and thanks for watching! I do Not plant one whole seed potato per hill. I let the seed potatoes sprout in the sun before planting. As I plant them I cut the seed potatoes in half or sometimes 4 chunks depending on the size of the seed potatoes. I always ensure each chunk of seed potato has at least one sprout. I generally plant 200 hills however this gives me alot of potatoes! Way more than one family can consume! I also always use my left over potatoes as seed potatoes for the next year this was I know its a good varity that grows well in my soil. When I was a kid my family planted 40 hills and it fed us all winter however I now produce as much food as I can because I love sharing it! I hope you have a great crop please keep me posted! Anymore questions just ask😃
This and That with Chris Thanks so much for responding. I can tell through your videos that you're a giver. You've helped me a lot. Now I know much better how to plan for my potatoes this year. I appreciate that.
+Esther Jackson Hey! Almost missed your comment! I store them in my garage in a large grain bag! The temp in there is just a few degrees above freezing so they keep all winter! Thanks for watching!!!
If you didn't live so far, I would give you a couple of huge thick walled Styrofoam chests that would work perfect for you. They would work great for storing potatoes and apples. They are much too big for my needs. I plan to give them away on Craig's List if I can remember to get them listed.
Haha I would probably be grumpy after all that work in the sun too! 😜
KATELYNandTRAVIS It's all worth it in the end😀
