Another way to avoid burn marks is to tape off the surface with painter's tape before the burn or if you do a lot of stuff or anything large, get a cold lamnator (just a roller really), they're fairly cheap- that's the best way I've found to totally eliminate burns. Love this stuff- nice vid!
or buy masking tape designed for that purpose.

I just bought a laser cutter/engraver. Watching makers channels for ideas it's kind of interesting how many laser folks makers logo have the circular saw blade feature as part of their logo

Great video as usual.
One thing if I may. in your estimate of time, 2 things that aren't being taken into account.
1. designing and getting the file ready for engraving.
And 2. While items are being engraved, you can use that time to be designing other things and earning more money. Whether it is files to be sold or files to be used.
Only if you can multitask, not recommended to leave a laser running unattended.

tahnks for the vid! is tehre any way to purchase one of these bundles, say the ornaments, and just slightly edit them to make them coasters (circles) instead of ornoments with the little added circle up top?
Once you have the files you can alter them as you wish.
I am using the Longer Ray5 10 W laser and I want to do Slate coasters. I saw a gentleman on of course TH-cam who was using the same machine but only a 5 W. I was wondering if you knew that if mine would do of course the same thing but twice as fast? He could do a finish one in 25 min. I want to know if I could do 2 in the same amount of time?
Best thing you can do is run a speed and power grid to get an idea for ideal settings.

When mass producing how do you decide which dog breed is going to sell and dog name? Thank you.
Mass production I would start by making to order, you’ll quickly discover which breeds are more popular. Then you can start cutting those ahead of time.
As far as names, I would create a jog that held the finished piece in place and use that to personalize.
what type of plexi should I use to make a eye safe enclosure for my desktop lasers?
Laser safe plexiglass.
How to make money with a laser cutter? Sell the design files. Craft fairs are saturated with laser engraving and cut stuff where I live.
Not so much at the fairs and festivals I've attended.

@@BuildDadBuild do you know how long it would take to cut this with the 40w s1? Only four an hour on a 20w sounds terrible. I am new to lasers and getting mine on the 8th. I don't have a reference for knowing if twice the power yields half the time (so I would get 8 an hour on the 40w?). I got all the bells and whistles and thinking maybe I should have just gone up to professional level even though I've never used one before but that seems folly until you know if you're going to be able to do well in this market locally. I try to minimize the scortch by lowering my power and going to multipass yeah it adds time but the product somes out clean
I just clean off the scorch with alcohol. Sooooo much faster.

I own a xTool D1 10W laser and everything is taking ages to build.
Maybe you could share some thoughts which bring the machine time and your personal time into the pricing calculation? Just saying, your mentioned turnover is great but not if you need to quit your job for that 🙂
Do you think they would work with an xTOOL F1?
The F1 will do these. Just be aware that the edges will not be perpendicular to the face because the laser fires from the center ( laser fires: /\ ; versus gantry style: || ). The angle will be slight and flipping the back piece will make them look more intentionally rounded. I hope that helps.

Couple of points you are missing. 1) Fonts being used for commercial products need to be licensed for such use. That also goes for designs found on the interwebs. 2) Your $2178 is for producing hundreds and hundreds of cut products. Which is a lot of hydro, time, materials, and mainly a lot of wear and tear on your machine. For $2178 a month. You sure spin it good though.

I signed up for Facebook using my real name, real email. I got to the part where you upload an avatar and before I could even choose an avatar I was immediately banned. There was a button to click to appeal, so I did. The ban was upheld. I never even posted a single thing on Facebook.

Scratch that, I wouldn't join now even if they let me because I did appeal the ban and it was upheld. They also don't give me any reason why I was banned. I'm just a senior citizen trying to create some stuff with a laser engraver. I'm not a threat to anything, except maybe my wallet.
Same thing happened to me. I signed up to use the Marketplace to sell laser etched items and was banned the next day for posting inappropriate posts but I never even signed back in or posted anything. Now I know why people hate Fakebook.

The facebook group is more for newer people but he gives away a ton of stuff and huge discount deals.
Anything you can make with a laser cutter, there are thousands of others who can make the same. The only thing you can make are coasters, ornaments and other useless items that you can't sell for more than $1 and nobody wants.
