Azabaxe Been a fan and seeing them perform since 1983, Yeah, they do that to themselves today sometimes since 1991 but even U2 can't hide their own raw energy, indescribable talent, and magnificent power they possess during their live performances when they decide to quit messing around, put their game faces on, stop with the fluff for a few numbers and get real like they used to. I was at their first U.S. show of Songs of Innocence Tour in San Jose, after they got their groove on after a few numbers they went back to basics and blew away the audience. A strictly musical and vocal performance, when Bono began PERFECTLY singing "Every Breaking Wave" with Edge hitting those haunting piano notes- the house was brought down. A lot of people there didn't even know what the song was that Bono was singing and they were still into it.
Romansilvercoin I saw that tour in 4 different cities (Toronto, NYC, Belfast, and Dublin), and EVERY time that they played that, the audience was damn near silent. Also with far more people that I'd have expected singing along, given the backlash that that album received, due to the release methodology. The same goes for Raised By Wolves! Damn near everyone there seemed to not only know the song, but to reeeaaaalllly be into it!
Gloria.....2..3..4 ...man when I heard that intro it was my cue to explode all the joy of my youth I had inside - and to be alongside hundreds of people feeling the same. I had the pleasure of seeing them in proper concert venues like this one. Weren't we lucky
Bono did loose his incredible range and clear and concise way He /we was alot younger and at younger age, the strain over years r hard BUT MIRICLE notice after his Da passed Bono S voice miraculously was restored a gift his Da bestowed onto him after passing Bono believes it is why His voice came back thank you!!!Incredible brings me to tears and my knees!
Just a few months away from the Live Aid show. if you go to a U2 concert, you get a show. Its not just 3 guys in jeans and t-shirts acting like they are playing in the basement, they practice this stuff. Excellent show every time I have seen them.
WOW...This is 28 years old! I was in college when these guys were on the rise...I remember how much we all loved their music then (every one of these songs). If I went out and saw this show tonight I would still love it and consider it to be among the best I have ever seen! One of the GREAT bands of the modern era for sure...Their songs are as good and as powerful now as they ever have been! For my taste, Bono is one of the top 5 frontmen of all time...No question...
If I could only be at one U2 gig, it would be difficult but I'd pick this one. 1984 unforgettable Fire Bono is a beautiful thing to behold, in everyway. And his vocals, wow! Even when he was wailing, he stayed on key! Did those people in the audience know how lucky they were?
Such raw energy and passion! One of U2's finest moments among countless others. We are so blessed to have them around and still on top after all these years!
The Unforgettable Fire album tour is really special. They were big,, about to become huge. I had seen them just a couple of years earlier on the Boy tour and whew...had they grown! They had this incredible connection with their audience. As a fan off the early years they just sort of felt to me like they were "my band". I grew up right along side of them, same age, same year, same questions and passions. Their shows were a room full of people who I think felt the same. Sure do miss that original energy and ambition from them.
@@Mysterywhiteboy78 Bono himself now sees the error of his ways with the mullet, as he's said about the mullet you shouldn't have hair that you need to iron.

Totally agree with what you said about Bono just absolutely belting it out in Bad. My sense is this was the concert where the video for A Sort of Homecoming was shot. Same outfits to my recollection. And I don't care what anyone says, this haircut on Bono was the absolute greatest. As cool as could possibly be. Still love this band, no matter what. Cheers.

Man, I really miss when U2 were an actual great band that actually meant something. All bands have a shelf life, I guess. At least they had that amazing streak from 1983-93 when they were the biggest and best band in the world.
Just imagine if a time machine transported U2 from the early 80s until present time. The youth of today would love them. My 13 year old who is very musical, loves the music from the 80s. He says music today just isn't as good
+Craig Dunn i can verify that they are i have followed them since 1980 and seen them nine times live, there's a spirit about this band that is unmatched, and live is their domain...
John Gosper I've followed them since 1991, and will be seeing them for my 9th time this summer, 10th, too, if they vary the setlist enough to justify going to a different city (I'm lucky that they're playing my city's football stadium).

Bono's voice was at it's best during The Unforgettable Fire, more mature than War but raw and incredibly powerful, he could do anything with it., It's such a shame that he lost that voice during Lovetown, way too soon
I don't know if he lost his voice that early, I just believe that it wasn't utilized the same way in the '90s as it was in the past. Achtung Baby, Zooropa, and Pop all focused on Bono singing in lower registers. The Fly and Lemon both feature Bono singing a falsetto, and both sound incredible.
Marc Al He lost it during the early part of Joshua Tree Tour. That's why they didn't perform Red Hill Mining Town live even though it had a video in play on MTV and was a single.
WookieeWarrior I'll have to check my ZooTV DVD again, but I'm fairly certain that Edge has always sang the falsetto on The Fly. I know that he did when I saw them play it in Pittsburgh back in '11! It was the second song of the night!
generic_blues generic_blues I'll have to double-check, but I'm fairly certain that Red Hill Mining Town was slated to be their first single, before they instead chose With Or Without You. I'm also fairly certain that they never officially released it as a single; though, I'm not sure about the music videos release.
They've already grown in maturity since the early days in 1980 and 81 . Great confidence and self assurance. I suppose this was " The Unforgettable Fire " period of 1984.

The rendition of Bad is a wonder to behold. Takes the breath away.
I saw them on this tour in Milan (February 1985) and they were (and still are) a force of nature!
You probably saw the last performance of Indian Summer Sky ever! You've lived one of my dreams!
simply 1 of the best if not the best frontman and entertainer of all time and still going strong with his best friends in the band
Bonos voice was too hoarse during this tour so much that he lost his range in the high 2 middle notes
4 guys not 3
WOW...This is 28 years old!
Always a pleasure seeing Adam sing backing vocals. Wonder why he stopped
Amazing show. As vintage as it gets. The raw energy of this show is just satisfying to watch and listen to. So glad to have stumbled across this.
This band has managed to evolve and stay current for four decades. What an accomplishment on many, many levels!
What a raw passionate performance!
He sings every song as if his dear life depended on it! (Y)
What an epic portfolio to hit a crowd with ! EPIC ....A truly superb, tight and creative band !
Such raw energy and passion! One of U2's finest moments among countless others. We are so blessed to have them around and still on top after all these years!
The Edge was on fire for this gig.
Bono's got his game face on damn! I wish they could capture that passion once again....
Vod es Los?
Vos es Los?
All glory is fleeting.

Watching The Edge on New Years Day still gives me a major hardon ....... one of the greatest musicians ever to have lived 🎸
Remind me not to be standing near you when they NYD.
@@dolfandumpy7395 😂
Without words... the Best era of U2..(age of innocence) so simple...so pure...Real👍🏻
The band was in great shape espacially Bono's voice!
WOW! He has a thunder mullet!
Beast isn't it?
@@Mysterywhiteboy78 Bono himself now sees the error of his ways with the mullet, as he's said about the mullet you shouldn't have hair that you need to iron.
Goosebumps!!! Absolutely amazing. The passion in Bono's voice when singing Bad brought tears to my eyes. His voice is flawless. Took me back to a different time in my life. U2 was my life back then. Love this band so much. Thank you for posting this! ✌
Cheers.
Faith,love= U2💗
To Paul "C":
Love You, Brother! The greatest poet of the 21st century...I listen to 'Beautiful Day'
every morning as I make my six mile hike. I take in a deep breath and the poetry and music has me finding my genius and love of life all over again.
This is by far my favorite concert...You guys put it down like no one on the Planet.
The Edge is just a Beast-Genius who makes us all be happy to be alive just to hear his wonderful sound only he has.
Man, U2 was something else in the 80's - 90's (especially Zootv)!
That is the U2 I remember and loved so much .. such an influence on my early life .. reminds me of all the energy I once had .. great post ! Thanks 👍🏻
3 instruments, vocalist - together much greater than the sum of their parts. Such great music! Always sounds so fresh….and their live performances are representative of their passion.
Now this is pure U2, no antics, no filler, no songs you don't want to hear. Bono doesn't even sing the same songs like he's singing here.
This is the U2 that freaking mesmerized me as a teenager -----loved them ever since
Damn
i actually saw u2 in 1982 as the opening band for j geils band. I never heard of them until then but they were special, you just knew when you saw them. bono asked the audience if they wanted to hear a couple songs they already played for their encore because he said they played all the songs they had! lol! they played I will follow again!
Briliant show and their two best albums were yet to come.
Holy crap!! What an awesome crowd. U2- Forever!
Excellent audio for something 40 years old. Was a great show too.
im still getting goosebumps...such power, thrust and force in voice and appearance...this is how i will always remember them...and of course Bono's Vokuhila hair-do LOL
OMG That is hair on the back of your neck stand up matieral 😎 PURE ROCK AND ROLL . I only wish more young people see this to show them how good U2 are if given a chance. A real proud to be Irish feeling you get after seeing that concert. Go on the boys !! 😃👍😎
OMG, both Adam and Larry singing along on the chorus of I Will Follow; I never noticed that before!
He says music today just isn't as good
Best damn band in the world
+Craig Dunn i can verify that they are i have followed them since 1980 and seen them nine times live, there's a spirit about this band that is unmatched, and live is their domain...

John Gosper I've followed them since 1991, and will be seeing them for my 9th time this summer, 10th, too, if they vary the setlist enough to justify going to a different city (I'm lucky that they're playing my city's football stadium).
@@TheBigjohn67 ...everyone walking out of the concert back then singing "40" was an absolutely amazing experience. HOOOW LOOONG...TO SING THIS SONG....HOOOOW LOOONG...TO SING THIS SONG. Miss those days so much.
Too fucking right mate.
The first U2 bootleg video I bought back a thousand years ago. What a great show .
SIMPLY FANTASTIC. U2 older releases are almost across the board better, but it's nostalgia that keeps me coming back. Seeing LiveAid live helps fuel that feeling. For you lot who've not witnessed the best times of U2's career, you did indeed truly miss out on special times.
Great show! I wish Bono's voice could stay like this til the end of time. Clarity and power. Amazing.
Joseph Muir That's true, but Bono sings the falsetto on the album version. They did also cancel the Red Hill Mining Town single.
I saw them in 84 and 87 Both were incredible shows! I love early U2 so much!
Bono Was Born For This.........So Were U2.....U2 Forever.
They've already grown in maturity since the early days in 1980 and 81 . Great confidence and self assurance. I suppose this was " The Unforgettable Fire " period of 1984.
when I was 13, I attended to this tour that stopped by in Zurich, Switzerland... good old times!!!!
Every band has that "sweet spot" where they are hungry and full throttle. This is one those moments.
Bono..24 years
incredible!!!
At the early 80s to the end of the 90s, I was a U2-Fanatic-Fan. I've visited many, many gigs in the whole Europe. I even went into debt for it.🥶
Had the privilege of being at this concert. Loved It.
That''s awesome, it must have been amazing to be actualy there and hear Bono sing with that incredible voice he had back then.
wow I am jealous! naw lol I saw them in Arizona Tempe show was incredible and magical At This moment im frozen to screen watching U2 Rock IT BONO VOX HUG me please!

Me to!! Awesome!!
They changed the course of musical history much like The Beatles and the Stones. Reinvented themselves along the way, the vital band of the last 50 years. We all witnessed greatness that comes once in a lifetime.
I saw a hundred of U2 performances but have to say this gig was absolutely flawless! Simply awesome. Thanks for posting.
Wow. 100, fuck me you lucky bastard. I saw them once in Sydney 1984.
@@wrinkledfrotskin3800 , that was actually a gross exageration , a matter of speach I was counting and saw them actually 11 times. Seen in 1984 must have been a great experience since they were not so big then !
Long live U2

I believe this concert happened before unforgettable fire was released. Would be epic to first hear the new songs from that album in concert.

Świetne kawałki!! Bono wspaniały wokal.

I was missing "with or without you", but than I thought: wow! This early WOWY wasn´t done at all! It´s so impressive: they were already a huge band without jushua tree

The most amazing thing, and I am not admonishing the current generations but look how much fun the crowd is having with no cell phones up in the air.
Great show. Kind of refreshing to hear them go from one song to the next without speeches...just letting the music do the talking. Hungry. :)
Agreed. Nowadays Bono can't go from one song to another without rambling on about something political. Bit cringy for me anyway
What an incredible concert!! Thank you so much for posting this : )
First heard them in the 5th year social room on an old record player in 1984 and now listening to them on my mobile. How things have changed yet still the same.
One thing though, I'm now screaming my lungs out with a vodka on ice!
When a band actually meant something. U2 were at their brilliant best here...young hungry and vital. Simply stunning performance....
I notice how Bono would look out into his audience when he wasn't singing...he cared for those people ..watch his face 😍😍😍😍he was touching them ,imparting something from himself to them....awesome,simply incredible💖💖💖💖
This gig looked like a lotta fun 🤩
Once I figured out what Pride was about I was a lifetime U2 fan. Already loved the music but the messages in the music put them over the top for me.
In my opinion, the best era of Bono´s voice...The edge incredible as always!
17:03 Bad the friend Bono is talking about is Andy Rowen who lived opposite Bono when he was growing up and at 10 years old was caught in an IRA or loyalist bomb ( can't remember which) in
Dublin with his father doing deliveries in his van, the doors of the van were blown clean off and little Andy witnessed bodies and body parts everywhere in the street -he turned to heroin to cope with the trauma later in life. As far as i am aware he is still alive and has conquered his demons and now works in Prisons /rehab.
ive watched this so many times in the last 8 months or so and gotta say its my very favorite, Live aid 85 and 2009 concert in Ireland both second..i love the excitement of this audience and Bonos connection with them, really shows his humility and heart..when i read nasty crap about him having a huge ego i must disagree, he worked hard to get where he is today, at their start they were rejected many times but their perseverance paid off and their music,so unique and flavorable grabbed our hearts in a spiritual ,good way..I love them and nothing can change that😍😍😍😍
Thank you for uploading this fantastic concert with U2 at their prime!!
