"I can remembering watching 'U2' when they came to the States." They were promoting their first recording, 'U2-Boy'. Straight from Dublin, Ireland what a new unbelievable sound. Get this their music wasn't available in the music stores yet, they were selling their first recording on 'Cassette Tapes' right in the pub. So I bought two Tapes Cassettes, their music was unlike anything that was out at that time. Wow! I can't believe it's been that long ago. Wow! I heard of U2 *before* they made their first USA tour through a great NYC indie rock magazine at the time. The Editor had gone to Britain to check out new music, and concerts. His short *review of U2 at The Marquee in the Fall of 1980* said > *These guys connect with the audience. Their songs are anthemic. They're ambitious. If they can get successfully get past their sophomore album - I think they'll make it to Stadium Level.* I hadn't even heard IWF/OOC yet (it might not have hit the airways just yet) but the review peaked my interest. In fact had I not missed the advertisement in (NYC's) The Village Voice where they were 2nd on the bill at some midtown, or downtown medium plus size club I might have seen them then. Had to give up my tix in '83 to attend a meeting, but I caught Edge and Adam rehearsing that afternoon. Finally saw them with friends in Dec '84 at Radio City Music Hall (what a place to see them live first time!). Seen them on every tour since then except Pop! They are on my My Rushmore of Rock bands! : )

I will never forget this night... It was so magical and special. This video is great but the energy and excitement in the stadium that night was amazing..with the changed setlist... The place erupted when they played the fly and streets so early..
Lee Harram I have to agree with you. I went to the show a few weeks earlier in Oakland, CA. His voice was better at that show but the crowd didn't have the energy. The stadium was near the water and it was chilly, maybe that's why. So glad I was able to also go to this show. The crowd was "off the hook"!!!! Too bad you can't hear the crowd too well on this video because of the acoustics of the stadium. But at least we have the memories!!!

@@svenmagnusflubiproducties i think what is more likely is that it's the cues for the lighting guy or something production related. usually the musician's mix is not the main house mix, but custom to how they like the sound. so bono would have his voice higher or lower in his ears as he preferred. many singers only like the band sound in their ears, and not their own voice. does anyone know the source of this for sure? it sure is awesome!!
@@lazy_dad Sorry, but I'm a musician myself and I've worked backstage for Rolling Stones, Bryan Adams, Springsteen, Neil Young etc... I can assure you that lighting guys don't need cues, they know the show. I have in ears myself, so I know each musician has his own mix... I don't know any singer who don't want to hear his own voice, I guess we know different singers ;-) U2 has endless delays and spacy sounds, so I can imagine, when you're running around a big stage, this trick comes in handy to know when to start singing again of playing a break or something, but I had never heard it before.

One of the loudest concerts, ever. IMHO. U2 and Lenny Kravitz together in Anaheim Stadium. OMG it was so awesome. Really loud. Really REALLY loud where our seats were. A fave! Super sold out and really blasting! Five stars. From michael t wyman and 99. in LA California.
I thought it was crazy loud too! I took my family including my 81 year old mother (God love her - she didn't want to be left out! :)) - and they thought the stands were going to come apart during 'I Will Follow' - I just winked at them. Achtung Y'all!!
@@greydogblues Yeah U2 Anaheim 360 tour. U2 crew built the stage. It was there for like 6 months or something like that. It was the last date in USA. (I think) Anaheim Stadium. 360. U2 postponed it. Lenny was awesome! So LOUD> Man we could hear Lenny blasting Always On The Run like 1/2 mile or so away. 6 blocks, whatever. Big saxaphone solo. U2 played a lot of Achtung. Really awesome. Wish we got a t shirt. ; ) mtw for Celeste. ps: The place was SO packed, too!

My older brother is a huge u2 fan... whats kinda cool, that stage theyre using is called "the claw" and it resides here in utah just a few miles away from where i live you can see it off the side of the freeway... pretty cool

Really nice job. Just found this! The comments some posters made - the delay in this tour was NOT from Bono's bike accident; he was having back problems started to affect his walking. So he had surgery . That was where the delay cane from. When they came back on tour he made jokes something like being repaired like German engineering. So actually there was probably a time in the first part of the 360 Tour were as someone said stiff, not running around I guess yeah because of his back getting worse. I look forward to seeing more of your films.
I think the recent U2 studio works are underrated because of their overcomplicated sound. What I like in best U2 works is that they are pretty simple yet very tricky arranged and emotionally played. THIS recording shows U2's really naked sound. Helper's engineer voice adds a noisy detail to all of it, but if you take it off, then you get a clearly delivered audio of how it should be, so people understand what *real* U2 could be about.
WOW an Insight, the Engineer counting off, gives and insight to whats involved, i assume the band also hear4s this count offs, brings it all home how these guys stay so tight, great production raw.
When U2 are on fire there's no better live band i saw them 2 nights together once at Wembley stadium they were good on the friday but on the Saturday it was something else kinda of tribal spirtual thing 💖
Best U2 360 recording and concert to me, better than the Rose Bowl one. The Amazing grace/Streets version, the countdown before Streets starts of, whoever doesn't get goosebumps here I don't understand💕 😎🤣

One of the best recordings of a U2 concert ever! Love the in-ear monitor and the talk at the mixing board during the break before encores.
What are the continual count offs for, the band to stay on track? That would bug me but it is probably a must in a noisy stadium setting.

Yeah. Larry’s been playing to a click since the 90’s. It’s really only used to sync the band to the video, lighting cues and a few backing tracks.

When U2 are on fire there's no better live band i saw them 2 nights together once at Wembley stadium they were good on the friday but on the Saturday it was something else kinda of tribal spirtual thing 💖
