I've always been critical of Chinese cars, but I have to say now they've come along nicely. if they keep the price down, I'm sure they will be the market leader
The middle head-rest can be replaced with a projector like the P5. The mirror of the front passenger seat is also different from the driver's. It has adjustable warm lights for the wife to do her make up. Top trim comes with dual chamber air suspension and unlike other EVs where the driving modes are limited, the G9 allows you to fully customise things like the suspension, front/rear wheel drive, regen etc. to your own preference. Unfortunately, the most outstanding feature in my opinion, its in-house voice assistant, will not be available outside China. It will probably be using a third party provider, which is a far-cry from XPeng's own voice assistant. Some of its amazing features: 1) No need for wake-up command. Just give the command like you're talking to a person 2) Four people can issue commands simultaneously. 3) It knows who's issuing a command and who are just chatting even when both are happening simultaneously 4) It can handle up to 40 commands in one minute. They had to add a 500ms delay as it responds too quickly otherwise. 5) You can issue 4 actions in one command
Why don't they make it available outside of China? That really seems nice. I really hopy Xpeng is gonna make an effort softwarewise in Europe. It kinda sucks if we get a gimped version here (which we already kinda do, no LIDAR, xpilot 2.5). I get that Europe needs extra testing, but I hope Xpeng makes the effort and updates it on these cars. I pre-ordered one, it just seems like such great value compared to other available cars in this class (cheapest that gets close is an Audi Q8, and it's 40.000 euros more expensive).
@@Jajalaatmaar I believe the voice assistant is carefully curated for the Chinese language. But I think they are gradually rolling out some of the features to the international version as well e.g. ability for 4 person's to issue their own commands. yeah, its a wonder to me why they chose not to include lidar in the European versions. I can only think that it's for strategic reasons. But recently they've just appointed a star marketer to take charge of marketing and overseas expansion. Maybe she'll put her vast experience to good use and position XPeng more appropriately moving forward, which is where they are seriously lacking. XPeng is like a talented engineer who doesn't know how to make a good impression.
@@networm78 Yep. The G9 only starts delivery in the Netherlands in Q4 and specs are subject to change. Maybe they'll still add it in later if we whine enough? I'll definitely ask about it when test drives become available (which should be in Q2). Even if they only deliver on current specs with the current price it's still a very attractive car. I realize their marketing isn't great but that also pushes them to offer a low price. If they start in Europe right off the bat with superior assisted driving that would be great. Especially now that Tesla is reducing sensors and their autopilot doesn't seem to improve that much. Show the Tesla nerds that Xpeng can do it better and you create buzz.
Good video, good car👍 just saw reviews on this G9 from Chinese TH-camrs, would say this car is going to be one of the most competitive players in its segment.
Personally I wish they would try to avoid frameless windows. Barely any automaker gets the alignment of the windows perfectly right so it creates additional noise. It is really unnecessary on a big SUV.
Good video! You mentioned the trailer hitch. I have a new test for you! Set up an open trailer with 250 kg of cargo (standard shape and weight). Include this as a new range test for cars that have a trailer hitch. It would be interesting to see the reduction of range at 90 km/h and 120 km/h. 👍🇨🇦

Nio is more “luxury” and good at service(charge&mantainance) while its tech cannot compete with Xpeng. Li auto is good at creat and catch consumer’s demand, it provides big screen, oil engine, six seats…makes people think Li is the car they want.
I envy the Norwegians who live in such prosperity, they always get the latest models of electric cars first! The car is beautiful like all Chinese cars, and now the only question is how safe are they in the crash test and how good are they!? greetings from Serbia!
2023 car and no adaptive headlamps.. air suspension but no flat boot floor. frameless rear door instead of shadesm USB A ports, single wireless charging port while shape of tray make it difficult to charge with cable, temp .. They just got all priorities wrong. And like you said until you can test software you can tell anything. as I don't care about padded grabhandle if I cannot precondition my car in winter.
Very nice idea for the back passengers to be able to adjust the seat. There is guaranteed and option to turn that function off in child safety options.

Goodbye tesla, no panel gaps, like the tesla, way better interior, it is 100 times better, oh yes a little slower 0 to 100 but faster charge, way better equipped
Very unfortunate that there is no 7 seater version of this one. Really have it on my radar. The Byd seal is an alternative but I find it a very ugly car. The NIO EL8 is something I have on my radar as well but not available in Belgium (yet). Then there is the Hongqi E-HS9. Very comfortable boat but shit in terms of multimedia, heavy and not very efficient. But beautiful.
Looks like Xpeng may go out of business...only sold 5000 cars in Oct22 it was double that in Oct 21. Looks like similar is happening to NEO.. I never did think battery swap was a good idea.. before long batteries will charge so quick it won't matter, and most charging done at home anyway.

The lexus RX 450h has a simillarily hidden rear wiper,
so it does not interfere with aerodynamics.
also it looks really clean and nice.
