Shanie Rose I think it's so much better not to have a third movie not only because the second one was kind of bad but also because Chris Noth says he's done playing Big and isn't willing to return to the role. So I'm guessing that would mean the end of Big and Carrie and I would really hate that. I mean after everything they went through together I just want them to stay happily married.
Samantha was the heart of the show. I remember a tv critic saying in the early 2000s, “the show is supposed to be about Carrie...but Samantha is the one they tune into see, Samantha is the one that they remember.” And he was absolutely correct. She was an AMAZING friend, the most unconditionally loving and non-judgmental of the 4 women, and really came off as the protagonist of the show (along with Miranda)
I actually found Carrie to be the weakest link. Even though she had the most prominence, she never became anything more than an indecisive, whiny, judgemental woman with a closet full of clothes and shoes. I found the rest of the characters more interesting.
I always thought Carrie was the main character because she needed to be the main character. The other women (especially Samantha) didn't need anywhere near as much screen time to get the same essence across as Carrie did. They had natural charm and charisma. Carrie you needed to get to know very intimately to like. If she had been a secondary character everybody would have hated her guts.
TheGogobooty I hated her guts with the screen time she got. I probably would’ve liked her more if I got to see less of her. The more I saw of her, the more of her awful habits showed themselves (whether it’s stalking both Big’s mother and his ex-wife; punching him in the face because he accidentally rolled on her in his sleep; constantly blowing off her friends for guys; having a messy ass affair with Big in Season 3 and pretending to be the aggrieved party, etc)

In many ways Sam was much more honest and true to herself than Carrie. Unlike Carrie who cheated, Sam never did.When she realized it was over with Smith, she was honest with him, before anything else happened.Even though they tried to do Carrie heroine, I always saw Sam much more. She was true independent woman who basically was the soul of the show.

Carrie never rang true as a heroine for me either. Carrie was wildly hypocritical, extremely judgmental, and displayed over and over again how crappy a friend she was. Sam was definitely the soul of the show

This was so heartwarming, she probably saved that woman's life. She is the best female character on TV, and without her the next SATC projects will be horrible.

When she gave that speech about cancer and threw her wig away. How many of us would do all that? She is such an inspiring character and most people know her about her sexual adventures. A really great Sam moment is when she decides to watch Brady while Miranda has a personal day, it was a huge moment for someone who wasn’t a fan of babies.

And she gave Miranda her hair cut.
She decided to sit with Brady and give her haircut to Miranda just because she was forced by Carrie. Before that, Samantha shoved Miranda and Brady into a taxi because she wanted to get rid of them at that moment. Therefore it`s not the best example of good friend. Here she showed herself as a selfish "friend".

The best was when she gave Miranda her coveted hair appointment. It seems like such an inconsequential thing but after Carrie prods her to take care of the baby for Miranda to get a break, the fact that she also instinctively knew that Miranda needed that hair appt - Samantha could always find time to do it for herself, but it was really selfless of her to give something to her friend.

She was my favorite Sex and the City character for sure. She was strong, completely self sufficient, and the most consistent friend of them all (also the least judgemental).
The main reason I like Samantha is that she REALLY does not man to be happy. The moment I love is scene with Richard where she says something like “I love you, Richard, but I love me more”and then never regret about her decision, inspithe the fact the loved him. She did not want to be cheated on again.

I totally agree about style!!! They always put an accent and attention to Carrie's outfits (which mostly I should accept I loved!) but there were some outfits that looked a bit...silly. Rather than Samantha never ever looked silly in the show.
Samantha is THE Supreme, although the series was great at showing the ups and downs of relationships and what women have to go through in dating and trying to find the right guy, Samantha was above that. She was independent, a force of nature, she put herself and her relationships with her friends above all things, she was smart, hilarious when she spoke her mind, and she didn't give a shit about what others thought of her, she was brutally honest with her opinions but she wasn't a cruel person. She had class and style but could be bawdy when she wanted to. If more people were like Samantha and open about their sexuality without hangups dealing with religion or politics, the world would be a better place

Samantha had a huge impact on me as a teen, her confidence and love for herself was a revelation. No other character was quite like her, she was intelligent, witty, loyal, non judgemental, supportive, empathetic and didn't give a crap what people thought about her and said what she thought. Carrie annoyed the hell out of me, how she treated Samantha when she was so much worse than her, pissed me off! Samantha was not perfect for sure, but she never pretended to be.
