The way the environment seems empty actually made the game even more atmospheric because we really felt like it's a ruined and abandoned city but not too empty since you can hear scream and gunshoots ambience from the distance. One of the best games I've ever played
True. I played it on ps2 very much. But the newer games (4 and 5) are not the same. The first was dirty and darker and this is why i think its still the best.

I prefer the 1st game than the V2 , V2 is kinda limiting the 1 has more and open Battlefield Maps and you can have so many weapons and don't have Ammunition Problems on your secondary weapons. I remember having my Sniper, A Panzershreck and Yes an MG42 as a secondary.
The mission where you had to sneak into a missile base to destroy a rocket will forever be a core memory for me. I can remember shooting every mf in that base with my trusty welrod as clear as day. Will always use a welrod over any other pistol in these games.

It also feels somewhat more realistic, albeit I've always found the idea of destroying tanks with a sniper rifle very annoying. The story in SE 1 is the most believable, though: elimination of targets in a war-torn Berlin, preparing for the Cold War. The later games with super-villain nazis are hollow and fail at making Fairburne an interesting character. He is the best in SE 1 / V2, a faceless tool of the OSS, not a superhero. Personally I'd like to see a Sniper Elite game set in the Cold War era, sending Fairburne to enforce American Imperialism (I mean, "advance national interests") in places like Middle East or South America, assassinating and capturing people valuable to the military intelligence. It could be set in the 50s and 60s, when Fairburne is in his 40's. I liked how SE 1 lacked a sense of great heroism: it was just a girtty, dirty slodge through a ruined city. Also: I liked how SE 1 had terible exit wounds in the bodies of the dead. It really feels dirty and awful to cap the sorry sons of bitches. While later instalments in the series have gory bullet cameras, they should show exterior injuries corresponding to the x-ray material on the corpses. It would feel so much more visceral and disturbing to end some 18-year-old kid at the wrong end of Fairburne's scope.
I recently got zombie army trilogy and i got say great maps combat bullet time spookieness and still lots people lay multiplayer. good games to pick up cheap
My best part of that game, it's War in Berlin, if sniper elite 6 will be again in Berlin but more locations and if can come in in any door, and any building, and car drive!,and another interesting possibility

Никакой тайности и скрытности, что свойственно снайперу! Зато они добавили расчлененку что бы игроки видели как их пуля разбивает мозги тупых животных. Параша, нет слов. The zombie ones are mediocre compared to the real sniper elite games, v2 is guns blazing sniping, se3 is stealthy and se4 (my personal fave) is a mix of both
