I bought the 750 high step for me and the 750 step thru for the wife. She likes the beach cruiser style bikes, I like the more sporty bikes. So they were both what we wanted.
Hey! Owner of an XPress 750 step over for the last 4+ weeks and put on over 350+ miles on it already. Here are my personal observations about the pros and cons of this e-bike. 1) Torque sensor is very nice and responsive. Most of the time, I only ride at PAS 1 or 2. 3 or higher if you don’t want to get any discernible workout. 2) I’m new to e-bikes so the front end felt heavy to me, probably because of the front suspension and the battery location. Most people probably would not notice or care. I could do without the front suspension. 2) I am getting about 45 to 50 miles on a full charge on mostly flat terrain using PAS 1 or 2 with occasional 3 or thumb throttle. 3) Low end shimano shifter works fine but down shifting is a tad slow and doesn’t always shift fully and cleanly. Upshifting works great and consistent and quickly. 4) The brakes work great. No complaints! 5) The display is beautiful and has 4 pages so I can get speed, voltage, current, total miles and per trip mileage. The battery level indicator is NOT linear. At 75% charge, only the first indicator is off. In fact, no indications of anything but a full charge all the way down to about 80%. This is based on voltage levels as shown by the display’s other pages, calculated using online volt charts for a 48 volt system. 6) The seat is not that comfortable. After about 30 minutes, it starts to feel uncomfortable. But after that, it does not get any worse. I wish I could adjust seat post height without marking up the seat post. 7) The motor is powerful but loud. I could be wrong but it sounds like any other 750 watt hub motor e-bike. And it seems like their M24 “stealth” technology was not applied to this motor. 8) Handle bar is comfortable but I wish it was height adjustable. 9) Front headlight is very bright and great for night time riding. The rear red light adds visibility to drivers coming from behind but I wish it also acted as a brake light. I also wish the bike had turn signal lights. 10) The pedals are very nicely made and sturdy. Seems to handle my 200+ lbs weight with no problems. It is great that they detach so quickly and easily. Can use this feature to help prevent easy bike theft, along with battery removal and/or battery off with key lock. Overall, I love this bike. Got it when they offered the second battery for free. For $1299, this is the best bang for the buck and I think it is one of the best beginners e-bike to own. 11)
The best review on the Lectric XPress eBike!!!! No one does it like you brother 💪🙏. I really mean that... Also, what app are you using on your phone for the speed?? Thanks for all you do... Thanks for your time🙏🙏
Hi Ryan, I'm just curious, is there any weight difference between the 500 watt model and the 750 watt model? I would think there would be, given the smaller battery and smaller motor on the 500 watt bike, but Lectric doesn't say on their website. Another great review, and thanks!
I know this is hard to review on video, but do you notice a rough or wobbly ride because of the budget components? Does the front end feel safe with the cheap off-brand fork and hub? What about shifting with that super budget Tourney derailleur? You didn't mention which brand the brakes are. I was considering this bike, but anything with a Tourney derailleur and that type of component all around is just asking for break-downs and too much maintenance.
Fork is one of the better budget ones in my opinion. I think Tourney is fine for recreational riding, it certainly isn't as smooth as the higher end stuff but it does work. 500+ miles on our XPedition. Also generally I think people shift less than you do on a non Ebike. If you value a higher end drivetrain I totally get it but this just the mark for lots of people that just want to get on an ebike and not break the bank. It would be nice if it was Altus with the trigger shifter though.
2,700+ miles on the 3.0 and loving it. Looking to upgrade from 20" tires, considering the step through Xpress, just a bit concerned with the recent "wobble" issue with the Xpeak. Any wobble at all on the Xpress?
Another excellent video. Based on your review of the Xpress step-thru I ordered one (gave you credit) and have about 100 miles on it now. I went with the 500w model since that's the legal max here in Canada. And I chose the high step because I like flat bars and that weird adjustable stem smelled like more bells and whistles than I needed. Also the 'gas tank' between my knees reminds me of my motocrossing days. LOL. Furthermore, I already own a step-thru 2022 RAD Mini (again thanks to you) and wanted to go with a different style and colour this time. The only complaint I have about the Xpress is that it's geared way too high. In PA 1 I'm always stuck in gear one or two with a chain that isn't straight. Third and especially fourth gear get me going too fast for the mixed-use trails around here. I'm a strong, experienced cyclist who likes to spin a high cadence, so that might have something to do with it. I will probably switch to a different cluster, with more teeth. Also, I will not be adding fenders or a rack. In fact, I took off the lights and kickstand, to make the bike more of a roadster. I still have the Mini to get groceries, or ride in poor weather. I like the tires, the display is great, and the pedals are remarkably good for a bike this price. The saddle is more comfortable than I expected, though the way it attaches to the seatpost is hilariously out of place on this hi tech bike -- 1970s department store stuff. Cheers.
@@robmaxwell3678 Initially the throttle was delayed and weak to the point of being useless. But someone in the Xpress Facebook Group alerted me to setting 22 option 2 and now the throttle gives me rocket power. I still hardly ever use the throttle on account of how good the torque sensor is, but once in a while, typically to get away from cars, it's good to know the throttle is there. Also, I put on a new crankset with a smaller chain ring, and the gearing is perfect now.
I wouldn't go by the 60 mile range, If you are only using PAS 1 you might as well buy a lightweight non ebike. That said I like my Xpress 750 and try to stay in PAS 3. I get between 30 - 35 miles per charge. I do have a few decent inclines to get back home so that factors in.

Regarding the amazing(?) suspension fork. Lectric makes a big deal of it in their promo material -- how they re-invented it, in-house and everything. But to me, it rides like every other cheap coil-spring-only fork I have known. And then there's the preload dial. I have turned it every which way, and can't notice the difference. I'm not complaining, considering the bike's price, just failing to grasp the hype around the fork. The thu-axle is nice, I'll give you that. Your thots?
Have not played around with the preload dial, but I'd contact Lectric and ask. There's definitely only so much a company can do on a $1000 ebike but personally I feel like it's better than some of the cheaper feeling Zoom forks and I think it's nicer than the one found on the XP 3.0. We'll report back with any issues longer term as we rack on more miles.
