    I have to say, since I prefer the crop sensor of my bmpcc6k to the image coming out of my full-frame A74 in terms of highlight roll off and dynamic range, I'm really excited to see what this camera with the full-frame sensor can do with the Blackmagic image processing pipeline... I don't know what it is, though, there's something about Braw that even through TH-cam compression just looks better no matter the grade, can't quite pinpoint the science behind it lol

    Matteo I appreciate you staying true to yourself because honestly people don’t understand Blackmagic goals or ethics when creating cameras. They will easily stretch this body type for at least 1 more iteration before doing a redesign. That’s the only way they keep giving us amazing cameras without hiking the price up.

      @@relaxwithme3266 Yeah that’s what they advertise it as. I’m not super sure how a bigger sensor effects dynamic range if at all, but the way he’s shooting into the sun and retaining so much thickness to the image and shadows looks amazingly good to me.

    Images look great but after owning two Pocket Cameras, the P4K and the P6K Pro, i was hoping for a body redesign.
    The open gate modes are great , and the APSC crop useful but it’s a shame that the camera still only records 2 channels of audio. After switching to Sony I’m using more than two channels of audio often.
    While Sony Menus still don’t come close to the fantastic OS that BMD does, I’m getting use to Sonys menus but after 4 years, never got use to the Pocket form factor. BMD need to put this sensor and mount into a body more in line with something like an FX6. Due to the poor run times of the internal battery, I always rigged my cameras with a Vlock battery which meant adding an external monitor anyway so having a 5” monitor is great for someone who just wants to hold the camera in the hand like you are for travel style films, I’ve never seen ANYONE else shoot like this with these cameras and the current form factor really is a huge compromise in many ways. Something in size between the Packet and URSA Mini would be great and until BMD releases something like this, I can’t see myself switching back unfortunately. Have always love BMD cameras but I’m over the compromises. Shame

    • @Mr_Kenneth
      @Mr_Kenneth ปีที่แล้ว +6

      100% AGREE. I have the 6K Pro and the form factor is crap and inhibits usability. It's like a grown up version of a Fisher Price camera. No ND's on this model is regarded. Battery is aweful and having to focus manually all the time is a chore. I'm thinking of going back to Canon and buying a C70 For commercial use it's far more practical.

    • @antone9751
      @antone9751 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@matteobertoli yeah, I probably will although hopefully BMD doesn’t think like you because it will be hurting their business big time and would take a small redesign to rectify. 🤷‍♀️
      Also, BMD were trying to cater to DSLR/Hybrid shooters when this form factor was released. Back then, it kinda made sense but now, many of those shooters demand IBIS and AF (rightly or wrongly! 😉)
      Now, the market for people who don’t feel they need AF and IBIS is people like film makers (not TH-cam ones) who are happy to shoot RED such as Komodo and Up or even Arri with manual lenses but those users don’t want a DSLR form factor, they want something a little more modular. BMD really is missing a trick by not addressing this market considering the sensor they have in this camera. I’ve used my 6K Pro as a B Camera to Alexa on many shoots and it’s worked well. With the new sensor and in camera BRAW BMD could rival many much more high end Full Frame cameras but those users are crying out for a redesigned body.

    For someone like me, upgrading from a $400 Nikon, the Cinema Camera 6k full frame offers significant bounds forward, and peaks my interest with fullframe and opengate, because I do have a big interest in anamorphic optics and low light. As a VFX/Motion Designer diving into live-action cinematography, I'm aiming for a $2-5k budget idealy with some room leftover to build a rig beyond the body and lenses. Relatably so, Veteran BMPCC owners disatisfacition with the lack of upgrades makes sense. L-mount choice to me seems an unusual choice for consumer markets. If it is the same sensor as the S1H which it seems to be it should have incredible dynamic range up there with all the cinema cameras other than ARRI. Boxy cameras and DSLR-style cameras have their own market share as they cater to different preferences and needs. I just need a camera with to record my travelings and everyday life with the best possible image quality. I don't need rigs, external screen, large external battery, and other yada-yada that is very cumbersome to me. This is one of the reasons why I didn't pull thr trigger on BM cameras but now I'm truly convinced! Blackmagic arguably apart from Lumix offers the best bang for your buck and the most value for anyone who is serious about cinema, I'm def getting one of these!

    Very curious who's making the full frame sensor for this camera? Thought I heard it's the same sensor as one of the sony's, but most high-end pro-sumer sony's have 15stops of dynamic range.

    • @matteobertoli
      @matteobertoli  ปีที่แล้ว

      This is false. Sony (and many others) is famous for claiming total fake numbers when it comes to dynamic range in its cameras. They were claiming 14 stops for their A7s II when in reality that camera had not even 10 stops.

    Cool!! First full frame, L mount, exciting! And CFExpress, finally. Is that an in-house sensor??
    As you said, it is a never ending topic, the only disappointment for me personally is the form factor (I would love to attach a v-mount battery and power distribution plate directly to my "pocket" camera one day, instead than assembling a train of stuff on 15mm rods, and to have at least one little SDI port, even 3G), but well, they keep prices so low, one shouldn't complain. 🤷🏻‍♂
    I wonder how long before we will see a full frame sensor like that on an Ursa Mini, maybe with even more formats and fps choices.... ;-)

    finalmente Full Frame!!
    per me che faccio sport ha poco senso, dove tra le mie priorità ho bisogno di uno slowmotion importante ma per il prezzo e caratteristiche rimane un ottima scelta e potrebbe diventare un ottima cam B nel mio kit.
    Incredibile i 13 stop di DR,
    Bella la color del video e si, prenderò il pacchetto LUT di conversione.
    mi chiedo solo quale camera hai usato per riprenderti, perchè nelle alte luci ho visto una netta differenza nel recupero al minuto 5:48 e mi domando se anche la mia camera è in grado di ottenere lo stesso risultato.

    • @matteobertoli

      Sigma fp is a prototype that only shoots insanely heavy files and doesn’t even have a color profile. Sigma ceo admitted it was a sort of prototype.

    • @UriRa
      @UriRa ปีที่แล้ว

      @@matteobertoli, You are wrong.
      Sigma fp shoots in real, not cropped raw, unlike BM.
      Can shoot in your cropped Braw and ProResRaw!
      The fp has continuous recording without overheating to a 4 Tb disk, which is approximately 3.5 hours.
      I buy such discs for 200 usd, you can compare it with the cost of your card.
      Unlike BM, the signal format allows for very diverse profiling; there is no restriction on a single color profile.
      Therefore, fp can give higher levels in all orders - color, contrast, saturation.
      Shooting on FP the way BM shoots is not a problem at all, but why if it can be done much better)
      EL - Zone allows you to keep the frame within the dynamic range.
      Extending the native iso, when the first native is from 100-800, and the second is 3200, allows you to instantly compensate for minor nuances in the lighting of the frame!
      Yes, fp is the prototype of the ideal camera, I agree, but what did BM do?
      BM created a blank for development, with the correct frame size and mount, but retained the archaic body, cropped formats and raw limitations....
      This is a breakthrough only for BM fans, I hope the next step will bring them closer to fp....
