The baddest yet Epic beyond classic one for the ages thank you yes I can relate 600 yrs and some free labor sounds good to me look what has been produced ! I'm glad for everyone hear this just one love 💕 music is fun forgiveness is in everyone just don't forget let's groove come together this music says yes Cris daddy dave and DH crew will always sound brand new! Even with old tunes just fantastic truly words can't express thank you Dave dang your new name cuz nobody can hang unbelievable but believable for it's real none of these cats have to fake it to make it I'm so so proud true story
Chris plays with such crazy time keeping grooving capability that I can't even comprehend. Drum sound is captured pretty ok here, but the mix is not too good with the whole band. I'm liking the continuous arrangement of their music and the dynamical range/control is immensly tight from chris.
The song at 40:15 sounds like a big city to me.... a constant unrelenting groove going on no matter what you do with a lot personal songs going on in the middle of everything. Like if you took an over head camera to Times Square and saw the giant crowds but then started following random people through parts of their day just to find out they are both equally part of and separate from it all....
+valentin grispo I think the part up to 5:24 is just an intro/vamp, then a couple times through the theme of Herbie Hancock's "The Eye of the Hurricane" then Giant Steps at @6:06
It just annoys me that the guitarist wants to hog the show. Let him do a solo gig somewhere. He plays some beautiful stuff, like Larry Coryell. Meanwhile these other dudes can blast away on a Miles composition. And bye the way, Chris is a genius! The Hendrix tune is a nice twist.
I way more liked the sound of Sharkey.. Such an inner metronome .. I mean, Dave us obviously genius in all aspects around the drums, but Im not the biggest fan of him as a member of band.. Forgive me for saying this Daves "hardcore" fanbase, but from my point of view, he plays a bit too self centered.. And I guess its all good, because, he' s the star there, but still that doesnt change the fact that in my opinion he could be more into "The Drum Hedz" and less into "The Dave"..
+nasever most younger players are like that the older plays play more for the rest of the band like Dave weckl and steve gadd and dennis chambers and vinnie that's just how it is
I see where your coming from but the name of the band is Chris Dave and the drumhedz. I'm sure he wouldn't be as wild if it was someone else's band even though he gets weird with Glasper.
This is his band, so he can play how he wants. Check out D'Angelo live at North Sea Jazz videos to see Chris Dave "as a member of band" - perfect balance of everything for that gig IMO
+Dev B I will never get to his level because he is a genius, and I will never be anything but pretty good. That doesn't mean I can't suggest that his current approach isn't very musical. Look at the video of a much younger Dave playing with Kenny Garrett. Amazing stuff.
i think this is the best jazz band in the moment
Sharkey is a straight god on guitar.
awesome jazz/funk/whatever player, like Chris Dave
great musicians, amazing drummer chris, his drum sound is from another planet
Finally! A decent sounding live recording of these guys!

Soo good! I'm in love with this band, thank you much for recording
Time does not exist. Take risks. This is frequent throughout this show. #dopeness
I think its actually the opposite. They have such good awareness that they don't need to play it, but can dance around it like mad men.

nasever i feel this comment completely
+nasever most younger players are like that the older plays play more for the rest of the band like Dave weckl and steve gadd and dennis chambers and vinnie that's just how it is
Jajaj lol chris is not a "young player"
I see where your coming from but the name of the band is Chris Dave and the drumhedz. I'm sure he wouldn't be as wild if it was someone else's band even though he gets weird with Glasper.

a shit my pants at 46:46

a genius drummer who insists on burying musicality with deadened drums and goofy overplaying that makes him sound spastic
+caferrara agreed he could be more mature in my opinion
+caferrara You get to his level of musicianship & rhythm expertise & then you can tell him he's burying musicality by overplaying...
+Dev B I will never get to his level because he is a genius, and I will never be anything but pretty good. That doesn't mean I can't suggest that his current approach isn't very musical. Look at the video of a much younger Dave playing with Kenny Garrett. Amazing stuff.
I thought this video was amazing, but I went to listen to chris dave with Kenny Garrett, per your recommendation, and WOW just WOW :)
well i guess everybody has their own idea of "musicality" his just isn't yours right now.
Disgusting recording........or...mix.
what was the name of the last song?
Whats the name of the song by minute 59?
Did you ever find out? ? Same question
