Chris Dave is the future of drumming. For a long time we had a lot of drummers imitate, Weckl, Vinnie, and Gadd, who took their stuff from Elvin, Tony, and Buddy. With advent of drum machines, the MPC, Dave has been able to take those influences and transcend them. Amazing control and approach on the instrument. I've never heard anyone like him.
2024 and he still is; he changed the game but no one came even close to his vision, that's wierd because it still to be heard that approach in other genres
Thank you. All of James Brown's songs are in my DNA. My mother had all of James Brown's songs on 45 rpm when I was a child. This is why l grooved to that "lick" when I heard it. Thanks...
I am mesmerised by Chris Dave and his exploration of rhythm but it strikes me as equally stunning the ability of the musicians he plays with to hold the main groove through his journeys. Do you guys think Chris is feeling this main groove too? Sometimes it doesn't sound like it but his precision coming back in is always so spot on!
Thanx!...Thrust CD was laying not more than 20 cm away from my PC...I don`t know why I didn`t made the connection...so much Music flying around...Thanks again! Problem solved!
Xolin11. You are absolutely correct. I realized that about the time I got to My gig. That's what happens when rushing. Thanks for the correction, and thanks for knowin'! PEACE!!!
The second song is a Herbie Hancock tune. I'll get back. i love this brotha! I gotta go play some blues. I Frisco. At The Saloon in North Beach. If anybody's gettin this. PEACE!!!
Laurens0712 You are both right and wrong about the groove. It is actually the slowed down sample of "Give It Up Or Turn It Loose" that Dilla used to produce "Conant Gardens" off of Slum Village's Fantastic, Vol. 2. Chris Dave is a huge Dilla fan.
Not only my favorite but in my opinion the best drummer overall in the world. I hate saying the "best" because everyone brings different energy to the music game but i feel CDD can do it on all levels. May be the MJ (LOL) but even still the planet he is on is absolutely ridiculous!!!

There is a lot like him now ,a lot ,even in my country (Mexico ) but he is still the daddy and no one comes close

I love thundercat's passion......he plays with so much excitement and expression
Im only 2 minutes in and im blown away. He has such an amazing sense of time, nasty grooves, and unbelievable control of his dynamics
