- oon Studios delivered one of the best games in the Xbox One library and of the metroidvania genre in 2015 with Ori and the Blind Forest, and soon, they'll be bringing more of that magic and beauty with its sequel. Ori and the Will of the Wisps looks beautiful and exhilarating, and so far, it seems like it's going to improve upon its predecessor in truly meaningful ways.
Obviously, we're quite excited to get our hands on it, and as we gear up for its imminent launch, in this feature, we'll be talking about a few key piece of info on the game that you need to know about. So without further ado, let's dive right in.

It is easily my favorite game ever and I can not be more excited.
Thank god for game pass because I didn’t feel like this game was for me until I downloaded it for free and couldn’t put the controller down shortly after. Game is def a 10/10 masterpiece, it’s that good.
This is the first time that I hear about this game series and I'm curious to see the previous game to know what to expect from Will of the Wisp. I like it because it gives me Unravel 1 vibes to be honest.

I’m already saving for the collector’s and steam version. This just excites me more than I already was since Ori and The Blind Forest is my favourite game of all time. I truly can’t wait for March 11th.

Felis Moon there is no clear way to pronounce it. Most people pronounce Nibel like “Nib-bell” though.

This is nice and all but its more of a "ill tell you some the features confirmed" were both were the same, for weapons. The only real thing of "you should know before buying"is that there are not plans for switch imports / versions. The deal about making a "things to know before you buy is to talk about the expectations the game has and if it really fullfills them in gameplay, mainly to avoid disapointed players when finding a controversial feature, realizing the lack of one, seeing a weakness of the game or a bad comparision to the first one, basically to make players aknowledge of what they are buying. They already know about the game and its features already spoken by public promotion like trailers and show streams. The thing is to talk about the stuff that may or not, make them consider buying the game and avoiding dissapointment in case of them buying it without knowing x factor ending in bad reviews
I loved the first one and no doubt will love this one...but it’s just gonna hold me over till Silksong
2:47 Correction: At the start of the game, you can only equip 3 shards, but throughout the game, you can get up to 8 shard slots, allowing you to equip up to 8 shards at a time.

This game will forever be my number one favorite game even though I’m a huge Gears of war fan as well. I have both of the ori games on Xbox and the switch. Masterpiece is the best description I can say to describe these games.
I cannot wait to play this! I'm glad they put so much time an effort to make it better than the first, which is one of my favorite platform games!

I hope it is just as emotional as the first one I'll admit it the first one made me cry a lot it was very beautiful and fun!

Do I need to buy "Ori and the Blind Forest" to be abke to play "Ori and Will of the wisps" ? Or Wotw is stand alone and can be played withour purchasing the first part?
It’s definitely a stand-alone game and can be played without having played the first one. However, if you end up loving the game so much that you’d like to play the other one too, playing them in reverse order could be disappointing, because it’ll seem like The Blind Forest is LACKING cool skills, abilities, and features that Will of the Wisps had.
I ran into that problem with a couple of Zelda games. I played Minish Cap first and then Link to the Past. And even though LTTP was by far a more awesome game, I found myself really missing some of the upgrades I’d gotten used to in Minish Cap, like the Gust Jar, etc.
I made the same mistake with Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission. I’d gotten so used to Samus’ upgraded “grip” ability and “jumping morph ball” that it frustrated the heck out of me every time I went to grab onto a ledge while jumping and ended up falling.
Anyway, I hope that answers your question. And sorry for the novel! 😂 But bottom line is that yes, they’re both stand-alone games, just like any Zelda or Metroid game. But the newer releases have added upgrades that will be missed if played in reverse order. Hope that helps!
Btw, I realize 6 months have passed since you asked that question. But if by some chance you haven’t purchased it yet, now is the time because it’s on sale for 50% off. It’s only $14.99 for a limited time. Also, the first one (Blind Forest) has a demo available, so even though it’s slightly different, you could get a feel for the mechanics before plunking down money for “Will of the Wisps”.

@@alexcla9445 I have a pc, but playing this on the go with a switch wouldve been cooler. Also, they released the first game on switch, so it only makes sense.
@@Priceman5 Be glad they did that, but they don't have do it again. In fact, the game was only ported to Switch after 5 years, and because the devs asked for it (easy money). Microsoft owns the IP, they can do whatever they want with it.
If it was up to me there would be no exclusives, they are anti consumer. It is what it is tho.

I'm so excited for this! I bought the Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection and it unfortunately doesn't work for me, so I'm planning on refunding the game for Steam Wallet credit and buying this instead!

Some argued that Hollow Knight was better than Blind Forest. Maybe it is but honestly, I don't care, Ori and the Blind Forest captured my heart and it's all I care about.

They are first party studios! They are getting cheques anyways, even if this game fails(which i am sure will be a huge hit in the genre) .

The Xbox TH-cam account confirmed its coming to Switch so the final point is incorrect.
They probably will, but not right now. They want to see how well the game does as a exclusive. Give them time.
Microsoft came out and said it's not their decision. It'ss up to Moon and they said they currently have no plans to release the sequel on Switch right now

Not really into this game, I did played a while into the first game before stopping. Since I have Game Pass I will try this game out to how it looks in 4K but not playing it long.

@@sanskarmishra5309 it was pretty tough. I struggled on a few bits but it's the kind of game where you keep pushing. I did the same with super meat boy and managed to beat it. The feeling you get when you complete a game like this is immense.

It's so obnoxious. They are limiting their player base by not releasing on the switch. They'd make more money and reach more people with their content if they released on the switch also.

It will come out on the switch eventually. My bet is they will release s definitive edition for Will of the Wisps too, and once that's released on pc and xbox, they will release it on the switch too.
