Can you believe that the Ori game was the FIRST game from Moon Studios? And they didn't even work in the same building. Derived from classic animation styles and influenced heavily by the Lion King and The Iron Giant, Ori and the Blind Forest came together with intense atmosphere and beautiful music to match. I'll be playing the Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive Edition. Several playthroughs are needed and there's plenty of challenges like: don't die in a campaign or don't upgrade anything. The plot impact of this game is great, with so many lessons and characters, and I hope it has the same weight with each playthrough.

What childhood film hit you hardest in the feels?
Definitely the Fox & the Hound. It was one of those movies growing up that made me learn a lot at a really young age. That speech about friends and family in this video made, me tear up a bit. Lost a sibling to depression this weekend. It has been hard but honestly Jirard listening to you talk about games has helped keep me in better spirits. I love you man
You beat me to it, I was going to say the same thing. When she drops off the fox and drives away, that shit was too much.
The secret of Nym only because it made me understand that death and pain are real things and they come from anywhere.
Fox and houd

That is PERFECT!!!!
Ori, the game that can made you cry on the first prologue minutes.
Agreed even when i think of it, my eyes start to be filled with water (Not crying)
I cried from the beginning and after the first escape sequence, It's of tears of joy from finishing the escape
@Madfox I didnt watch the trailer, I want to keep the surprise when I play it
I only cried in the dark soul intro
Yeah; It's a REALLY Tearjerking Game!!
I am loving how you're taking a different approach on how you're narrating these games. Seems like you guys changed it up with Smash Ultimate and now this. Keep it up Jirard, you're all killing it.
killing it. could have cooked a steak with the amount of heat he was cooking with.
Just finished it. The first platformer game in my life, never thought there'll be one that I'd like.
Can't wait for the sequel. Thought it was coming February 11, but it turned out there's still a month to wait.

@@IWantToStayAtYourHouse Facts especially Metroidvanias
@@Zephhi yea hollow knight and ori and will of the wisp are amazing
Bro I already enjoyed platforming games, but with a lot of other games it felt more like work to explore stuff, and this is one of the few I enjoyed exploring and finding all the secrets and hidden areas and figuring out how to get to them.
Really enjoyed the more experimental format, it's fun to match the style of the game like this.
I love when you introduce me to a game I'm actually unfamiliar with. Makes your videos all the better!
Lucky you, I wish I could play Ori again for the first time. It's a mind blowing experience.
Is it weird that just looking at this game makes me tear up? It’s half because of the ascetic and half because of that opening cutscene. I consider myself not to be very emotional and I still cried like a baby when I saw Haru die. The dynamic between him and Ori plus the way Ori acted always gets me.
One of my all time favorite games, I've played the original and the definitive versions a few times, and I'm READY for the second game coming out
WHEN DOES IT COME OUT?!!!

OMG YES I AM SO HAPPY YOU PLAYED THIS.
This is my favourite game of all time and I truly appreciate when others enjoy it too
And we continue to wait for the will of the wisps.
I just couldn't get into it, tried multiple times.
Hyped for the sequel
Go play Phoenotopia it’s a free game that is kid of cool too. It’s my favorite game
I don't like metroidvanias at all, but I bought this to try and convince myself to like them, and I certainly enjoy it more than any other metroidvanias I've played, and it's beautiful, the gameplay is great. But now I've got stuck at the top of the tree thing and there's no way out, I've searched for like half an hour in this small area. I dunno if it's a bug, or it's just a metroidvania demonstrating just why I hate them. Oh well, I guess that's where the game ends for me. But yeah it's the best of the worst, it's not as confusing and back tracky
One of the most memorable moments for me was when I was chilling about in front of the Ginso Tree core and then I got an achievement called "run for your life"
How?
I will endlessly shower that segment with praise for being one of my favorite moments in all of gaming history. The excitement of cleansing the core quickly turning to fear as that achievement pops up and I realize how much danger I'm in. Emotion and adrenaline run rampant as I make repeated attempts to outrun the literal lifeblood of Nibel while listening to the magnificent soundtrack that just makes me so....happy, even though I'm constantly seconds from death. Ori and the Blind Forest will hold a permanent place in my heart, and not just for this masterpiece of an escape sequence, but for being a masterpiece in its entirety!
This game is one of the best games I have ever played.
Wow I've never got to a video from a huge TH-camr this early feels weird

@Michel Banès I know and I'm so hyped! But I don't have a Xbox One 😭

Ori and the blind forest is the most underrated game of this generation. An amazing experience.
Ori is what games should be: A world that's just fascinating, wonderful and exciting which takes you to another place and just makes you feel nostalgic and happy... It's a MASTERPIECE.
I juat realized that about half of the games I purchased were games that were reviewed by Jirard. Truly he is an excellent reviewer.
Those few notes of the Ori main theme is enough to remind me about how beautiful this game is. Love it!
i really like how storry is made impactful but still straightforward and simple to understand
you can feel all the intended emotions and what characters feel, and aren't forced to having to undertand it and instead can just take in more of the experience
I was really hoping Ted would say finish it at the end and everyone would get mad at him

Been playing consoles since the Atari 2600 came out. As time(decades) have gone by, I have less and less time to play. This channel is great to see games that I never have heard of and will never have time to play. Thanks for the great journey of the amazing games that exist.
This was an EXCELLENTLY written review! I hope you enjoyed it after getting absolutely 100 percent...I think that would suck at least a little of the joy out of it for me!
I still can't get over this new intro.. This level of awesome should be illegal!
At a time when I thought games were losing their ability to grab me, Ori completely shattered that concept. It's an amazing and beautiful game.
Enjoying the new style and direction but PLEASE keep including your game stats. My favorite part of your videos is always seeing the time you spent, number of deaths, etc. Personally it gives me a greater appreciation for what you endure for these videos.
ori and the blind forest one was of the fist indie games i truly played and i loved every minute of it , it looked beautiful , the story was heartfealt and the movement was sooo good
First Completionist episode to ever bring on the waterworks for me. Especially that part where you talk about your own bonds with the friends you’ve made.

Well, do i have news for you
I just got this the other day, and let my 6 year old play it first. My other son was playing Hollow Knight (legendary game), and needed help. I forgot about the beginning of Ori, so I walk back to my 6 year old and see him getting a tissue. Next thing I know, he is balling his eyes out over the prologue. He cried for a good 5 straight minutes he was so upset over Naru dying. It broke my heart but I told him it will get better as he plays the game.
Maybe I'm just a complete scrub, but it's unfathomable to me that anyone could get through this game without dying a single time.
I thought this was one of your best episodes so far. I always prefer when they feel a bit more personal. Awesome work
Ori and the Blind Forest is one of the prettiest games I've ever seen. The soundtrack is phenomenal!
Really loving the new video style, guys. You're all killing it! I felt your passion even more strongly in this episode.
I am here to say that this is the best Ori review to date. I liked ACG a lot, but this probably takes the cake.

@@onni4681 indeed, the hype is real! What was the one thing that stuck out for you in the game play trailer?
You will never know or care I really like the new bow ability.
Halfway through the game I realized how simple the story really is. What set it apart from the rest was how they actually spent time on the emotions of the characters. A lot of stories tell how they happen, but this game, like the childhood movies that make me cry, spend time with how the characters are actually feeling about everything that's happening. Even the music. It's almost like I could hear the flute crying at times.
I have tears in my eyes when listening to this soundtrack !
Wow, this episode on Ori really plays tribute to how the game can make you feel when playing.
The intro and the review was awesome, but I missed something by the end, like, how many hours? You died more times than you'd like to admit, but it would be really cool to know how many. The summary feels like a satisfactory end to every review, please include it again.
I second that.
I loved the more serious tone to this episode. It really fit the theme of the game! I also loved the new style
Ori, Hollow Knight, and Super Metroid are the holy trinity of Metroidvania games in my opinion.
SOTN?
I actually haven’t played sotn yet. I’ve been meaning to but I’ve just never had a chance. I have played aria of sorrow though, and if it’s anything like that game I’m sure I’ll love it.

You've done it again Jirard! Ori and the Blind Forest is one of my favorite indie games and now this is one of my favorite of your videos. I’m still scarred from the escape segments and the segments with the B I R B that you have to sneak by
Wow. This gotta be you best video in years. I loved it!
I wanted you to do a video on this for ages I adore this game Thank You!
Not gonna lie Jirard you made me tear up with your amazing narrating skills set to the beautiful images from this game.
Jirard really needs to complete Dust: An Elysian Tail. Has a similarly gorgeous handdrawn art style. More impressively, aside from the music and voice acting, it was made by one guy.
I kept thinking the whole time I was playing ori that I just wanted to play dust. Imo Dust is way better.
I have Dust as well on Steam but ended up so drawn into Ori that I never finished it
Completing Dust isn't going to be too heavy of a thing, (one playthrough to 117%) but yeah, it's definitely worth the narrative and everything, it's a gorgeous game
Y'all should also check out hollow knight when you get the chance. It is a superb game.

Ori reminds me of Dust, underrated game. Believe it was mostly made by one guy too, what a feat!
Dust is so great! I think it's better than ori too...
Ah yes, Dust. It's cool Ori is getting a sequel, but Dust just needs one way more.
I feel like Ori is better from a graphical and fluid gameplay standpoint, but Dust has it beat in the character and narrative standpoint.
I am loving about the new show stuff! It's all perfect! Also, props to your dude who chooses the games on the background self every week. Noticed it since I started watching around episode 80, and love it every time!

This is such an amazing game. One of two, actually, that I really want to play but can't because I don't own a windows computer or an XBox (the other being Alan Wake). Everything else either works well on macOS, can be emulated there easily, or exists on PS4.
Ori is available on Steam as well.

yo it's not just this game this whole review is magical I mean we actually went outside what a mind blow!
"The key to any good story are relationships. The way the characters feel about each other and bounce off on another is crucial to the deceptively simple story telling in Ori."
Can this be applied to all media and games?
I'm just going to go to your videos for reviews to see if I want to buy a game from now on. Your passion for games is something of beauty. Love your channel!
I was 12 when this game first came out and IDK why but I cried when naru died.
I knew Naru would die. It was sad, yes, but not that much. Now Ori dying in the prologue, staggering slowly forward, barely climbing onto a branch and crawling a bit before collapsing, that was just hard to watch. A small furry creature dying of starvation.
God damn Jirard, you actually made me cry with that friend bit. That was amazing. Thanks for reviewing this gorgeous game.
I, as a completionist, just immediatly noped when i saw "One Life" mode
Most achievements on this game are fine to do, but i don't feel like i can do the speedrun and no death achievements, that's just... no
Got this game today after I saw someone play the first hour of the sequel. I started it up to see a little bit of it and couldn't stop playing until I restored water to the forest. It's absolutely breathtaking in design and execution.
It's all fun and games before "Unhinged" kicks in
Just finished it. The amount of times I got OTK by lasers took me to the brink of sanity
Ori is amazing, thanks for showing it! One of the best games ever. The tree chase song still tears me up. Even watching this, I cri evertim. Nicely done video!
Finally managed to beat Ori on One Life mode. Time: 2 hours. 7 minutes. All items. Thank frick that's over. It took days of practice, about a hundred attempts
This game is absolutely ruthless with it's instakill deathtraps everywhere. Hollow Knight on Steel Soul mode was easier because if you fell into a spike pit, the game would forgivingly teleport you to a safe location (minus some HP). All you had to worry about was getting the boss battles right.
But with Ori, the entire game is the boss fight and you have to do the entire game perfectly. All the jumping puzzles, all the traps, all the obstacle courses. All of it perfect. One little slip into a spike pit and the game will brutally make you watch your character bleed to death and die. GG game over. I haven't had another metroidvania force me to practice speedrunning the game so tightly and with so much discipline
Better than other games with Instant Death spikes. Here you have a small chance to recover at least and a dumb mistake doesn't always lead to death.
I can’t compliment you enough on the intro it is so epic and I looped it because it was so cool to me.
One of the few games I actually fully completed, alongside Dust: An Elysian Tail.
I legitimately cried at the ending of both games.
I like this new narrative approach for your reviews, it's really refreshing after 300 episodes of the show. Keep it up guys!
I’ve been dreaming about getting this game recently (literally I was sleeping when thinking about this game) and I really want to play it but honestly I’m terrified. I’ve tried many Metroidvanias and never got to beating them because I always got lost in their huge worlds. I would try to watch walkthroughs but each episode would be like 1 hour long each, and I wouldn’t want to sit there for an hour just to figure out what to do. This happened to me with hollow knight. Should I get this game?
@Kraken G. I just starting Ori and Hollow knight at the same time since I have game pass. One of the major differences is scale and progression. Ori's map is smaller, and you don't have to wander backward very often. When you do, it explicitly tells you where you need to go. It's pretty easy to navigate- and this is coming from someone who's sense of direction is so bad I need to constantly waste a charm notch on Wayward Compass. I would highly advise against walkthroughs- Ori has a great story and you should NOT spoil it.
I don't know if you ever ended up trying it but the biggest difference between this and most metroidvanias is the open map. No doors (outside of locked areas) and no loading. It makes the experience so much better and it can let you play for hours without realizing it
Ori grabs your heart in the prelude and never lets go. Oooooo, nervous about watching! I got stuck at the rising water exit to the tree in 01/2018 and haven't yet gone back.
