    17:10 I think the car decided to abort because of the indicating car/trailer. If you watch the screen it doesn't initially visualise the car and trailer but when it does it begins to abort. It's also interesting to see that the cameras all turned off at the same moment.

    • @jamesbedford7327
      @jamesbedford7327 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      May not be legal, but when the road is 2 lanes wide, and so is the mini roundabout, then it doesn't matter

    • @airlitex6488
      @airlitex6488 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@jamesbedford7327 It's not a question of whether it matters or not. FSD will need to follow the rules of the road and in our case in this instance it's the Highway Code (Rule 188) which states; "All vehicles MUST pass round the central markings except large vehicles which are physically incapable of doing so." Just sayin'. Source www.highwaycodeuk.co.uk/roundabouts.html

    I recently did a drive myself and had a light go to yellow as I was passing into it. Handled as you'd expect continuing on through. I was fairly close and over the stop bar I believe. I've had other times I confirm through and moments later changed which stopped as it had for you. I believe that the stop sign / signal update as been the most spot on out of almost all AutoPilot updates.

    The data source for UK road speed limits needs sorting before FSD can work reliably over here. My local roads are still showing as 60 when its a 30. I've reported it using the form years ago and still no change.

    Have you noticed that the streering is slightly behind the actual bend meaning it steers a bit wide?
    S bends show it up the best as each new bend amplifies the late steering. Either you end up running off the road or going too close to the oncoming traffic.

    We’ve got similar traffic lights in SA Australia. I think the first set of lights are indicating where the stop line is and the further one for drivers to see the lights when stopped at the line. it’s hard to see the light when stop at stop line so they get extra one across the intersection. The tallest one I think is expected to be seen from the distance.

    My Tesla Y phantom brakes at the same spot of a straight 6-lane highway every day. There's nothing visibly different about that area and there are no speed limit changes. It does this in heavy traffic, light traffic and in no traffic at all. Day or night. Rain or shine. It always brakes through that area. It's VERY frustrating. I have to disable autopilot completely and drive manually through that zone. The highway has been there for 20 years, but it has been undergoing some type of construction for most of that time.

    I have a Tesla M3P - the auto steer limited, IMO, is a limitation that the car can’t steer fast enough, like the motor is moving as fast as it can but the corner requires more.

    • @johnmckay1423
      @johnmckay1423 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a physical limit, but it's way beyond what it does at the minute. In other markets it makes much sharper turns. It's down to local regulations.
      I've also had it where it kicks me out of autosteer because of the limit and then decided I'm going too fast for the bend and takes over the steering for my safety...

    @kaasmeester5903 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    3:26: Steering limitations are not Tesla's choice, it's some UN recommendation I believe, which is also in effect in the EU. And that fully sounds like something cooked up to ensure Tesla doesn't get too far a lead on the established auto makers. Just like that NCAP / ADAC test of adaptive cruise control, where Tesla was a clear winner in the Vehicle Assistance and Safety Backup categories , but got marked down in the more subjective category Driver Interaction... and for the "irresponsible" use of the term Autopilot, earning them 6th place with a rating of Moderate rather than Excellent or even Good. The big German brands have their finger on the scale for sure...

    I think I know exactly what happened with the line at 8:48, as I likely would have done the same thing as a human. It decided the traffic light was for the intersection including the road on the right. It then drew a stop line on the screen corresponding to where one should stop to stay clear of the intersection.
    But, it's still not 100% clear to me. Is that light just for pedestrians, or is it meant to control the vehicle intersection? In either case, I'd suggest it might not be the best design for a traffic signal. Situations like this, where even humans might have trouble interpreting the situation, aren't going to be any easier for computers.

      It's a pedestrian crossing only. Looks like a private driveway on the right hand side. I appreciate it might seem confusing to people from other countries, but to a UK driver, that sort of crossing is very normal and typical.

  • @peterpan6821
    @peterpan6821 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I don't get it. You're sat in the driver's seat, paying attention to the road and have nothing else to do. So why not drive the car yourself, rather than worry if the self drive is going to sh*t itself and cause an accident. That sounds incredibly stressful.

    • @Muskar2
      @Muskar2 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because...
      1. It's fun to follow the development. If not, only use it where it's reliable. Note, in this video he's using it more often than you'd do when not pushing it.
      2. You can pay more attention to the road when you don't have to do micro adjustments all the time, similar to an instructor watching a student driver.
      3. It's only stressful when you don't know the system very well. Once you learn to see tough situations, you can just disengage when approaching troublesome scenarios.

    • @johnmckay1423
      @johnmckay1423 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree with Muskar. I enjoy experimenting with it and that does take more concentration than ordinary driving to ensure everyone's safety. It also tends to be less smooth than a good driver, so I don't usually do that when I have passengers.
      On the open road or highway, the fact that it takes care of steering and speed adjustment gives me more time to pay attention to my surroundings and other traffic which is less tiring and safer as the system never gets distracted. It's not a substitution for you being in control at this point, but it is a safety aid if used properly.

    Hi man saw your clip. Just wanted to tell you that the EU regulations are, you turn your blinker on in the roundabout when you want to drive out of the roundabout and not when driving into the roundabout, you were also wondered why all the other cars or trucks wanted to drive into the roundabout while you were in there. ( Because you had your blinker on, that means your drivin' out on the next turn). I used to do the same mistake myself. bye and take care

      I'm not sure what you think you are referring to by 'EU regulations' but the UK has it's own set of rules, and drivers here are taught to indicate on approach and entry to a roundabout, to indicate right if continuing around the roundabout and then to indicate left when exiting.

    Sure
    Normal Driving will be boring in the future but there would be many edge cases or close calls i would know if it can handle it!
    Extrem weather
    Extrem road conditions
    What if others drive not like intended?
    What does the car when sensors and cameras get dirty?
    There is enough content but it would be more work the better self driving gets!

    • @Systox25
