To choose just one....... Dear lord!! Penny, Watts, Renora, even Jaune!!! The VA cast hit new heights this volume. But, for me..... It had to be Cinder!! Jessica Nigiri's performance was really top-tier. And Winter a close second!! 😎👍🌹👏💓
Harriet's scream gives me chills, and Winter's voice is just amazing. This Volume was FULL of amazing deliveries. especially in the last episode. chills all around
Totally favor Watts' speech to Cinder and Ruby and Yang's little heart to heart talk about everything being a disaster but having to fight through it. And points to Nora talking to Penny too. They sure had gotten close. Hope Nora beats the sh8t out of Cinder.
Taylor's performance was incredible, Penny goes through such an array of different moods this volume and she captured them all perfectly. Kdin is a close runner up, May didn't have a ton of time but when she was on screen I loved every line she spoke.

The way Penny's VA perfectly encapsulates the tone of another actresses character is amazing. She let's the entire audience know in a second that the character she's currently voicing isn't really Penny from that alone

Its still Penny's VA doing the acting of course, but you instantly know its Emerald the moment she makes her tone slip into the tone Emerald uses with the "I have-" and then emeralds voice actor following with "feels good". The reason you know in that moment it's Emerald is because of the amazing voice acting on Penny
Jaune's panic when he is trying to talk Penny out of her plan, and his cry of anguish when he grants her wish hit hard and are the best lines to me. Even if they are heartbreaking. In a similar vein Winter crying out for Weiss is a close second. Loved the Volume and I'm hyped for 9

What hit me is that I got that "wait..." moment right before she transformed just from the tone shift in Penny's VA's voice. She's an incredible actress.
Penny's "Dad?!" sounded so vulnerable with the way her voice trembled/broke. Taylor nailed the intent behind that line - a terrified, confused young girl calling out for her parent.
“You’re right… Without you, I *AM* nothing… but *BECAUSE* of you… I am everything!” Is one of my favorite lines but it may be overrated so it’s fair it’s not here lol
Roman made such a strong impression in that first appearance alone that he got upgraded from a one-off villain to one of the main antagonists of the Beacon Arc, and considering that, without Roman, Neo probably wouldn't exist either, his influence can still be felt in the show even to this day.
These comments are great but so far I haven’t seen any about Oscar’s scream at 2:44 gives me chills EVERY time that I listen to it. Being able to not only deliver a well done scream but one so full of pain and such that gives you chills is another level of amazing Aaron really did an amazing job this season, so did everyone else’s voice actors. They all brought their A-game and I cannot wait for the next season to bring me tears yet again.

Penny's fearful voice calling out "Dad" later followed by a weak and heartbroken "I love you." 3. Harriet's scream when she realizes Vine is sacrificing himself to save her and everyone else. Seriously, chills and tears every time regardless of time or place. There are so many more but these 3 in particular just cause instant waterworks.
Keep in mind how it all looks from pietros perspective. For all he knew, his daughter just died again! That heartbreaking "I love you" hits twice as hard when you look at it from the perspective of a father watching his daughter 'die'

It’s so good seeing positivity around RWBY. V8 has had some of the greatest moments in the series and it feels to me like it’s finally living up to its potential in full. My favorite bit of voice acting is Pietro. He expresses so much pain with so little.
Weiss's scream when she was shot up the tube was really good too. Penny's voice actress really knew how to scream as well. Every scream of pain was heartbreaking

Can I just give props to the animators at 05:32? Ren's hand shakes when Nora says "but that didn't matter to you". It's so subtle but works so well with his character. Sometimes I feel the animators care more about this show than the writers/directors.
Taylor McNee (Penny) was the MVP of V8 just like Jason Rose (Ironwood) was the MVP of Volume 8. Everyone brought their A-game though. I am as excited for Volume 9 as I am scared, becuase after everything that happened in Atlas, hearing the characters deal with everything is gonna hurt. And as for Ruby... man, I think Volume 9 is gonna rip out our hearts and let Lindsay finally bring out all of the pain Ruby has been carrying.
This is my favorite volume because you can tell what every character is feeling at all times and you can tell that every moment is critical in saving the world
How are you gonna leave out Juane & Yang almost falling to their deaths? The bone chilling screams of dread was the best direction I've seen from Juane in a while.
Oscar's VA was my favourite in the volume for me! Aaron Dismuke is so good at doing Oscar and Ozpin! Penny's VA was my second favourite and Nora's VA was third.
"that's what happened to mom..." And that was a completely missed opportunity to make a corrupted form of Summer with like, some Grimm stuff Like when Salem pulled a "You're mom" on ruby in Vol.7!

There’s a reason why this volume in particular is my favorite and that’s because of all the insane things that happened during this volume especially anything relating to the Hound
All those VA's put their souls into those scenes. I especially love Watts monologue and the scene with Ruby and Yang on the stairs{ 6:43 } that scene really hit me in the heart.
Honestly, volume 8 did so much for the entire series. I have loved the series for a long time, and even as I watched and listened to many of the problems and criticisms that people had over the last few seasons, I was still going to love it. Yet volume 8 addressed so many things, for so many characters that I can't help but think that Volume 9 might be the best one to come
You can really hear Vegeta shine through in Watt's voice when he's doing his monologue. I love his character so much. He's the only one that tells it like it is. XD
Every voice actor brought their a-game this volume, I cannot praise a single performance because I can think of something to say for pretty much every main player
People can say what they will about how “RWBY was better before it got popular” or “the animation isn’t as good” or “the writing is cheesy”. But if there’s ONE thing that has objectively improved, it’s the voice acting.
I'm glad to see videos pop in my feed praising the stuff RT has done well with RWBY, specially in Vol 7 and 8, which have been outstanding to me. Glad to see people still love the show 😌

Never fails. Even in positive comment sections you always find commentors that say something nice...and then segue into trying to shit on the writers as if they didn't...you know...WRITE all of this amazingly-delivered dialogue.
I wish for Salem’s return shriek, we got a close up shot of her, and then zoomed out as the camera heads to one of the portals to see everyone’s reactions. Just sounds cool to me, sorry I know she did it in Vol 6, but it’d be better here.
Thank goodness someone said it! Acting as a character pretending to be another character is notoriously difficulty pull off well. Aaron did a fantastic job in general, tbh.
They really did give it there all this season. On a slightly unrelated note, if I keep seeing people saying that this season was lazily written, I swear to whatever god is listening that I’m about to slap some of those people in the face-
I'd say the writing was quite alright, but now it's a problem in execution of it. It's especially bad in a fights. The two times they faced the Hound it was just crew standing around and taking hits. Instead of them trying different angles of approach and failing, Ruby just... Took all of the hits, got out of the fight for a whole episode, only to come back in the end and flash Eyes on it. Could've been executed so much better. The same with the last fight, they are spending more time on making reactions (a whole second on each) or striking a conversation, then actually fighting someone. It would be much more belivable if they were fighting with all they had and simply got overwhelmed, but instead they were fighting like it's a JRPG.
I remember the gloriousness of Watts' monologue when that episode came out. It was so satisfying to watch someone lay the smackdown on Cinder for once. But alas...
Easily my favorite volume in terms of vocal performance, everyone seriously brought their a-game for every scene! The fact that half the cast members weren't even trained voice actors when they first started makes it that much more impressive!

I love Winter and her character development. Her voice actress is phenominal
There’s a reason why this volume in particular is my favorite and that’s because of all the insane things that happened during this volume especially anything relating to the Hound
All those VA's put their souls into those scenes. I especially love Watts monologue and the scene with Ruby and Yang on the stairs{ 6:43 } that scene really hit me in the heart.

Honestly, volume 8 did so much for the entire series. I have loved the series for a long time, and even as I watched and listened to many of the problems and criticisms that people had over the last few seasons, I was still going to love it. Yet volume 8 addressed so many things, for so many characters that I can't help but think that Volume 9 might be the best one to come
Watt's monologue is hands down my favorite part of the volume
Watts really had the best roasting lines in the entire show, and they had the nerve to kill him off.

You can really hear Vegeta shine through in Watt's voice when he's doing his monologue.

Every voice actor brought their a-game this volume, I cannot praise a single performance because I can think of something to say for pretty much every main player

People can say what they will about how “RWBY was better before it got popular” or “the animation isn’t as good” or “the writing is cheesy”. But if there’s ONE thing that has objectively improved, it’s the voice acting.
I'm glad to see videos pop in my feed praising the stuff RT has done well with RWBY, specially in Vol 7 and 8, which have been outstanding to me. Glad to see people still love the show 😌

Never fails. Even in positive comment sections you always find commentors that say something nice...and then segue into trying to shit on the writers as if they didn't...you know...WRITE all of this amazingly-delivered dialogue.

Thank goodness someone said it! Acting as a character pretending to be another character is notoriously difficulty pull off well. Aaron did a fantastic job in general, tbh.
They really did give it there all this season.
On a slightly unrelated note, if I keep seeing people saying that this season was lazily written, I swear to whatever god is listening that I’m about to slap some of those people in the face-

its the same level as volume 7 excpet that one was worse
I'd say the writing was quite alright, but now it's a problem in execution of it. It's especially bad in a fights.
The two times they faced the Hound it was just crew standing around and taking hits. Instead of them trying different angles of approach and failing, Ruby just... Took all of the hits, got out of the fight for a whole episode, only to come back in the end and flash Eyes on it. Could've been executed so much better.
The same with the last fight, they are spending more time on making reactions (a whole second on each) or striking a conversation, then actually fighting someone. It would be much more belivable if they were fighting with all they had and simply got overwhelmed, but instead they were fighting like it's a JRPG.

I remember the gloriousness of Watts' monologue when that episode came out. It was so satisfying to watch someone lay the smackdown on Cinder for once. But alas...
Easily my favorite volume in terms of vocal performance, everyone seriously brought their a-game for every scene! The fact that half the cast members weren't even trained voice actors when they first started makes it that much more impressive!
