Our grannys and mommas always prepped for the winter and stayed prepared all year long. Mommas gardening and canning kept everybody fed from the garden when we couldn't buy at the stores all of the time.
I used to think we were poor. I was actually rich in organic
foods etc. We had well water, fresh produce and
fruit trees. We weren't as poor as I thought

Yesterday i canned 12 qts of dog food and 10 pts swiss steak. Been so blasted hot here and now its cooled off so the canner came out❤
How do you can can dog food? That could be really helpful. Cat food too.

I got all my vitamins and mucinex cough meds stock up the other day,I had been going through my other stocked up. People take your vitamin d3.. your dr can see . I heard it rain finally last night here in Louisiana,,finally.. what a blessing, take care and stay safe y’all 🙏💕
It has been 105°-111° most days here in Oklahoma. We haven't had rain in a month. It is hard to get anything done outside but I have found seeds and potting mix on sale lately for the spring.

Hallelujah, Praise The Lord we are getting rain (1.2" and still coming down) in my part of Texas. Dropped from 109° down to 77°in an hours time. 🙌🙌🙌

Today time at my house was spent buying lumber and making a multiple can holder for my pantry where they drop down, first in first out. This is definitely a space saver. Thanks for your never ending motivation.

I've been getting my days started at 3am. Since last Wednesday I've canned 40 pints an 10 quarts of chicken. I'm staying busy going through my preps checking dates and making a list of things I need to stock up on. Doing what I can and continuing to pray. Love to all stay busy we'll get through this together.
I bought an extra manual can opener...it's the little things! 😁
My husband has a contract on the coast 5 hours away. I'm good with chores 🙂 n my own, but we have a storm coming. It's all on me. I am determined to do that s alone! I am going to show myself how strong I am!

I'm loving our cold front in North East Texas! Humidity is still high but much better. The garden is perking up too so may get another rerun of yummy veggies.
Truthfully I've been working my butt off learning to bake bread. And while the KitchenAid has been my friend, I think learning the temp of the liquid by feel is the most important thing for me.
Something that helped me was to always proof the yeast... This way I can even trust yeast that is beyond expiration date. Have fun!

Yep, this is what I am trying to do. My husband and I were talking of removing some of our grass in our backyard to put in more garden beds. We also want to plant more fruit trees.
If not planting right away last year I covered grass with cardboard then any leaves(mowed), cut grass, plant cuttings, compost then top with a little dirt. You can till it in if you choose.
You can use cardboard to cover the grass, then wood chips on top of the cardboard. Raised beds can be built directly on top of the cardboard.

I am planning on enlarging the garden. Have two fruit trees that are dying so this fall they gotta go. Got stuff waiting in buckets to be planted. So much to do.

I stocked up today on cold meds, pain relievers, elderberry supplements, Vicks salve, etc. hopefully will have plenty to last through the year.
My husband Is finally on board! Just went through 4 days of no power due to storms! We run a generator to keep fridge and freezer running. After running to get more gas he said "I think we need more gas cans filled and ready, just like you been saying forever". And then he's always complained about all the jugs of water stored, well after going through 14 gallons for flushing, washing up, etc he's trying to figure out where we can store more!
I love flex seal. Used it on aquaponics fittings where nothing else worked. You are a high value woman IMO.
This weekend I went through my freezers, pulled out all my leftovers and made a huge pot of soup to can for winter. Got 13 quarts and a pint. Most of the leftovers were from pot roast supper scraps. Yum.
I'm the only one in the family that sees what's coming, it seems impossible to prep for anything when everyone else is living in the moment
Do what you can and give the rest to God. Pray that He will open their eyes and open doors. 🙏
I understand. I feel like I am the only one doing anything here as well. The others say they notice things, but don't seem to really be concerned. I moved a lot of stuff around, hoping to get more organized.

Got up today and processed 5 pints of pork and 11 pints of chicken. I have 60 lbs of apple to process into pie filling and apple sauce. Had to skip church today unfortunately. My asthma is in overdrive and I’m coughing up a lung. finally went to the ER. Got a breathing treatment and steroids. Prayers for my asthma to calm down. Love all your farm animals.

I empathize with you on the asthma! I love Fall but its the worst time for me due to the dead plants leaf mold and dust and smoke from burning leaves, etc.

I will pray for your asthma. After church my grandsons asthma flared up. We gave him a breathing treatment. It can be so hard.

This time of year if stores have any left you can find seeds on sale
It never hurts to plan ahead and get what you are going to need for future projects , especially with everything going on . Train derailments continue to happen , UAW strike , Panama Canal backed up , illnesses popping up again , etc …

Grateful for this channel. Not many people around my husband and I think this way and man it’s nice to be reminded that I’m not crazy. Started following you about two years ago. TOMATOES :. Par boil them..remove skin and core them. Chop, put them in quart freezer bags. You can "Crock-Pot" 'em all winter and Spring...Chili, vegetable soup, stews, etc. etc.
I have 40 bags. I can make a crock pot once a week until next Summer

Once again Patara, you are reading my mind. I bought a bunch of supplies last week to turn most of my raised garden beds into hoop houses. I don't need them yet, and it is still really hot but prices are not coming down. I will need these soon and will for sure need them next Spring. They will not be cheaper next Spring we all know that.
I did this last year but ended up throwing shade cloth over instead as we went through a prolonged drought and heatwave. 🇬🇧👍🏻
Went to Aldi today and Walmart to get some things for hubby's Birthday. A worker at Aldi told me (I asked)they had a truck come in but they don't always get what they order. I've been watching. The produce isle is getting smaller. I was able to get some spaghetti sauce.I have been stocking that and veggies etc for a long time
patara, i've been a prepper for a long time, but still get a bit anxious/fearful about what's coming down the pike. when i listen to your videos each day, somehow i feel like i'm not completely on my own. you have a calming way about you and i feel like i'm part of a community even though utah is so far away from tennessee. you have been a great friend to so many of us, and your advice is very much appreciated. god bless you and your family.

We had a severe hailstorm through here a month ago - getting a contractor, and getting bids on replacing the siding and repairing all the broken windows has been the first challenge! BUT - I'm worried about material availability if the work doesn't get done within the next month or so!
I think I went a little overboard with the applebutter. A dozon 1/2 pints and a dozon pints. Well, I guess I know what I'm giving for Christmas.😂

Thats one beautiful garden. Lotsa work into that. Look forward to your show every day. Went throught bug out bags and rotated out for fall/winter. Made back packs for my 3 grandboys as well. I needed a break from the pantry some days its a little overwhelming. If SHTF I expect to hear your voice come over my weather radio. 😀
Did another canner load of burger and deer roast and dehydrating the biggest cabbage that the store had. Have to make another store run the end of this week, have some holes to fill! But always busy, plus watching great-grandsons. I'll be really glad when cooler weather comes, I'm a winter person. Thanks for finding time for us in your schedule!

I've been bringing in materials this year for future projects. I also went through my household linens and blankets. I made a list of my replacements and am shopping for deals.
I used the flex steel paste to fix a leak on the rubber seal of my 15 year old Subaru. (It was dented by a tree limb) I no longer have a wet seat. Hurrah! This stuff does work.

I didn't do a big garden this year. I have so much put-up from last year and the year before, so I just concentrated on what I needed to fill-in the gaps. It was nice to have a little "me" time this summer. God Bless.

Being prepared is crucial. I'm like you only I don't have a farm. But canning is my priority. I've got pig fat in the freezer to make lard, but it's a winter time project. Same with dehydrating, I have items ready to do when I have some time to get it going. So you are right spot on. I am proud to say that I have enough meat and veggies canned to keep my family of 3 and plenty of neighbors fed for the entire winter. It's not only important but it makes me feel happy. You keep up the great work. I pray for you every night. You are loved but so many people that you don't even know.

Love your videos, teaching us so much. I have always canned and put food away. One year I canned over 800 quarts of food. Glad I did, because the next spring I had a stroke and can’t do it anymore. I do make a grocery list for my husband to get and we have extra in our pantry . May not be enough but it’s a good start. Keep up keeping us informed I’m with you on what’s going on in this country and so afraid how it is going to get from now until this election is over. Prayers for you and your family and everyone that needs them.
Just bought next year’s work gloves. Seems like when you need something, that’s when the store is out because everyone needs the same thing. Summer gloves are cheaper now too because the winter gloves are out.

Daughter tested positive for the C on Friday, she was pretty sick the first few days, seems to be getting a little better each day.

My 4x2 equine fencing is 22 years old and I live in a swamp. We are just now replacing it in sections (as my husband destroys my honeysuckle harvest) and it's still in pretty good shape. It's more so the poles that are deteriorating requiring new fencing.
We have to get a new roof and the guy doing the roofing ( in September ) but last month he said we better pick out & get the roofing materials because he wasn’t sure we would be able to get the materials after mid- August.
Yes, we have a wood insulating heater, it’s looks like a piece of furniture and has a electrical blower, we use it as a back up in cold weather! We have natural gas, but love our wood heat!
I decided that every pay day a few things I am going to buy is Toilet Paper, Papertowels, bag of dog food and treats. the dog food is already starting to become a problem, for the size I need. I am also going to get a few more of the medium metal trashcans. we use those for the dog food and critter food, but am going to store some of my seeds and seed wheat in there . I figure storage will be key for just about everything. oh and laundry soap, and large boxes of baking soda. those seem to be an issue starting up.
Tire patches on rubber boots. Repaired some muck boots with them.
