This is one of the first models of the DD9. You can see that the power of the 2 tractors is tending to lift the front end of the front tractor and the rear of the scraper as loading progresses. The later models had a big hydraulic cylinder mounted on the front of the rear tractor and pulling upward on the hitch to keep everything level. In any case, they were an impressive machine.
Hi, Edward Beday. I was under the impression that it was the earlier units that had the traction ram between the two tractors and that it was scrapped on the later units. I understand that it was scrapped because many operators were forgetting to put it in float when they were done pushing and while reversing back for the next scraper and were bending rams and blowing seals as a result. The two tractors in this video are later model D9Gs with the slanted air cleaner and the side-mounted hydraulic tank. Just my 0.02. You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Most of them were scraped for parts or separated. Very few still exists today.
