I enjoyed the game for what it was, just like I did with Showdown. I appreciate the old school feel that tried to represent. It was also the last game I played with my uncle who passed away earlier this year. It was his 1st time playing this game & he beat me, lol. I’ll never trade that memory for anything. ☺️
Same here. Got my PS3 a few years late and seeing the leap in graphics from PS2 to PS3 was so incredible and I was a huge wrestling fan at the time. Had to have it. Tough to go back to now, though. LOL
Always appreciate seeing you in the comments, hahaha. Glad that popped you! I really couldn't believe how busy it was, man. So over full, can't even see anything.
Glad to see you cover this one finally. Christmas Day 09, Legends of Wrestlemania was gifted to me for PS3. My whole life up to that point was one without Internet and one where I played all of the WWE games on handheld ports. SVR 06-09 for PSP ate up so many hours of my childhood, and I got the DVDs for so many classic WWE content like the Jake Roberts and Road Warriors DVDs. I was absolutely obsessed with the 80s wrestling. The 90s I had slight familiarity with through some old toys and VHS rips. But the 80s was brand new to me. Legends of Wrestlemania was the first time I got to experience a wrestling game with such great graphics and up on a nice TV. So it holds a very, very special place in my heart and I put countless hours into it as a kid. I also ended up making the first Speedruns for it which are on my channel Keep rocking, Ian
I hoped this game would be like a licensed version of "Legends of Wrestling"... boy was I dissapointed when I popped in what turned out to be "WWE Quick Time Events: The Game" It had such potential, too. Graphics and animation are top notch for the generation, and Im a fan of the exaggerated body types... it reminds me of the wrestling figures I used to play with in the 80's... and 90's. But the fact that I actually prefer the gameplay in LoW says it all.
You always kill these Retrospectives my dude! I remember playing this game and yeah it wasn't perfect but I had lots of fun. Certain mechanics were weird but you get used to it after a while lol #ThanksForWhatYouDo #WeAreTheDanDans #MuchLove #Retrospective
I always wanted to play this game back in the day and still do now quite frankly but never ever had the chance. Aside of learning the controls as Ian described, this game honestly looks fun
I never like how they never allowed their spinoff games to be extensions of the main series always choosing to change the controls and play style to something that ultimately made a would-be good spinoff absolutely garbage and a pain to play.
Love the retrospective videos, a nice history lesson. Keep up the great work bud! Can’t wait to see a series on the GTA games! That is a crap ton of content in itself.
Man I'm trying to get the signups. We're only 34 signups away from the Vice City video, but the growth is not happening quickly. I can't force anyone to sign up. I just keep pumping these out and hoping those who want to see the videos made will sign up.
No lie this is my all time favorite wrestling game. Yes it is flawed and forces you to get good at QTE. And the vibe is pure nostalgia for the SNES era. And the SVR 09 crossover keeps me coming back even today. I love this game so much I own this and SvR 09 on both ps3 and 360
This wasn’t the worst wrestling game or video game in general I’ve played, but I’ll definitely say it’s one of the more unique ones I’ve played. That doesn’t mean it’s automatically good, but while this one certainly has its flaws and issues, it has a little charm to it similar to the Legends of Wrestling series, and I can appreciate what it was trying to do with the whole Legends marketing. But you’re right Ian. There are MUCH better games that do the whole legends vs present stuff much better, like the SVR games, and more specifically WWE 2K14, and every other 2K game, games that nail the roster, and while their gameplay isn’t the best of all time, they play much better than Legends. So yeah, you summed it up well, Ian, and this was an awesome video. Hope you and all the DanDans have a fantastic weekend, and I love you all.😊❤️
When I first started playing this game I couldn’t stand the controls however once you get use to it the game is fantastic. Had a pretty cool creator mode as well.
This was super intriguing due to the roster when it came out. I never played it mainly due to the review of the controls. I read somewhere that the developers did the controls to mimic older wrestling games when you had only a few buttons and a few moves and the match would be over , much like the coin op games. I woul think like Superstars and Wrestlefest but this game would be awesome if it had the SVR 09 controls even with their roster port!
From what I learned, Legends of Wrestlemania is supposed to capture the essence of the WWE arcade games from the early 90's and it was supposed to be aimed for people who want to experience the arcade gameplay in modern consoles. That makes me wonder, what will be the audience reaction if a video game got released today with the gameplay of Smackdown SYM or HCTP, will it suffer the same fate as Legends of Wrestlemania? 🤔
When this game came out I couldn't wait to play. When I finally played I was very disappointed. I couldn't believe they didn't use the same button control as SVR. I thought they would come out with Legends of Wrestlemania 2 and correct their mistakes but they never did.
Haha the shots fired at Mattel for their Bret Hart head sculpts. I’ve wondered the same thing for years and years. I never played this game, but damn…the fact that it’s a game full of QTEs is so disappointing when you just wanna play a regular wrestling game. It’s a cool gimmick being able to import a whole roster from a whole other game, but even that doesn’t seem like enough to make this one work. I’ve never played this one, and I don’t think I’ve ever really heard much about it when compared to other one-off games like WWE All-Stars or something. Great video, really insightful!
I think there are things this game does well (the cell , thumbtacks , the ability to port over the SVR 09 roster , I actually like the caricatured likeness of the legends, the arenas , the crowd felt more dynamic than it does in a lot of wrestling games , the video packages and the IDEAS of the levels enforcing psychology, wrestle mania tour and legend killer mode ) . With the benefit of hindsight , I would take those elements and have just either have grafted them onto the svr 09 engine , or made it a DLC for SVR 09 with the legend killer being an additional mode and incorporated wrestlemania tour more like a modern showcase mode but 🤷🏿♂️ .
Legends of WrestleMania was the game that everybody wanted, but the gameplay they didn't get. If they were to use the gameplay engine from svr, this game would have been outstanding. I think they wound up making it up to fans with 2K14. They wound up importing the same animations and importing as many Legends as they could put in.
I got the platinum trophy for legends of wrestlemania…I didn’t like the gameplay and it was a slough to get through, but otherwise I enjoyed the idea of the game. I’d love to see them do another one of these with better graphics and controls, and a bigger roster of legends from all the promotions. The all stars and battlegrounds games weren’t that good to me.
And now we got 40 Years of Wrestlemania, which is almost the same old bull. Honestly, there really needed to be a way to unlock all of the content in the 2K wwe games that isn't unlocking them through Showcase mode. I suffered through John Cena's showcase mode just to get Rob Van Dam so I can apply his entrence theme and motion initially to my Mustache Girl caw, but recently switched to having her do Edge's entrence and movement when it was originally my Sonic caw that had it.
@@616Entertainment you don’t need one. What I did was remove the dust covers from my 64 and the game fits. There’s special screwdriver you need but that’s all I did. it didn’t damage my 64. There’s other options like switching the game into an American cartridge so it fits but I never tried it
@@616Entertainment also I think it’s the first MMA game to have UFC properties. When you unlock Don Frye you get the UFC world championship (the one with the guy sticking his fist out)
I rented this game from some movie rental place back in 2010 and it was interesting. I don’t remember playing much of it but what I do remember from it I didn’t really like it. It felt weird when playing it and I never got used to it before I had to return it. One thing I don’t understand is why they let you import the SvR 2009 characters into LOWM but not the other way around. It would’ve made more sense to have legends in the game that had basically none.
I'll Admit WWE Has Been a Force With Stars like Hulk Hogan Macho Man Randy Savage Stone Cold The Rock John Cena Eddie Guerrero and Roman Reigns and regardless of many many set backs they've never waivered In the face of Controversy good for them
Why would they include Triple H in Legends of WrestleMania at all? Triple H is indeed a legend at WrestleMania but he got that distinction in the year 2000 and the subsequent years via his heated trilogy against Undertaker, the WrestleMania 20 triple threat and the battles against Cena and Batista but in the mid to late 90s at WrestleManias, he was doing midcard stuff with him being a snot nosed blueblood and the notable pre-Cerebral Assassin WrestleMania moment that Helmsley experienced is gettingg squashed by Warrior at WrestleMania 12.
Yeah, this was my 100th Platinum trophy. I was originally working on WWE 2K17 at the time, and I gave up (got bored after the career mode and realized I hadn't even touched online yet) on it and bought this instead. I go back and play a lot of wrestling games, including games like Attitude...but not this one.
I hated the controls of this game so much so didn’t bother much with it. Only redeeming factor was the graphics and the old wrestlemania footage. This game gave us showcase mode before showcase mode
this game would get way more brownie points with me if it at least included a women’s roster. alundra, moolah, mae, luna, sable, wendi, bull, sherri, elizabeth, chyna, etc. could have been a super unique crop of women plus would have given a reason to port the women from svr 09 over too.
As always, great review Ian-Boy. Yuke's tried something different & some people liked it, some people didn't. It's not a traditional wrestling game. It's more like a interactive wrestling game. The game is 50% action & 50% QTEs. Personally, I think it's a neat idea, but Yuke's overdid it with QTEs. On the side note, game has an extremely easy & fast platinum.
I’ve gotten any of wwe super stars figures ? I’ve gotten Lou Albano , Roddy piper , under taker and ric flair from that Line on my wall right now . And I liked the Lou Albano and Roddy piper figures so much I recently bought to more so I could open them and have them lose .
I had this game back in 2009 and it left a lot to be desired being honest. The thought was fun but the execution wasn’t. I didn’t have SvR 09 so I went online and downloaded a save file to put on my PS3 and that was one of the better things about the game. Now that SvR 09 current roster some of them are legends of Mania in their own right
I enjoy playing this game even though i have to get use to the controls again after a while. But one of the things i wish this game would have were Macho Man & Ms. Elizabeth, Sherri Martel & the option to create a female manager. (That way i would have the Scream Queen Daffney being my manager. even though she's WCW). But i did manage to get both 100% achievements on Xbox 360 & Platinum on the PS3.
It's not a perfect game by any means but I found it to be enjoyable. I feel this game was for the older fan, this game felt almost like an arcade game like wrestlefest.
@@616Entertainment I've had this game for years I think everyone just focuses on the controls. I think if people can look pass that they'll shockingly find themselves lost in this game.
I loved the arena's and the blood and a few other things but yeah it was rough. Wasn't the sequel much better though? I remember having a good time with that Oh shit okay no sequel lol, maybe it was one of the showdown games, because I still remember doing real moves with the controller
i enjoyed it a few bugs at the time but its my first wwe game that i platium then 2k14 was pure hell lol but its worth it though then now i just play them not to crazy like i was about it just for fun now but legends of wrestlemania isnt the best but is very fun and arcade style i love it
So your final assessment is, it's a dumpster fire, but an occasionally fun dumpster fire, which was pretty much my assessment when I played it years ago... and it doesn't look like it's worth revisiting
It definitely is a mess of a game and I don't understand how they thought the controls were simplified, but I do have a soft spot for this game. If you only spend a few bucks on it, you'll definitely get enough enjoyment out of it once you get over the control hurdle. That's how it was for me anyhow. In regards to importing rosters to other games, the only other wrestling games that come to mind are King of Colosseum Red and Green. You could import the rosters between the two. But you had to do it every time you booted one of the games, so it wasn't as smooth as Legends of WrestleMania. Then King of Colosseum II combined the rosters and made it all the more cumbersome to bother with that feature in the first two games.
Thumbs up because opinions are like assholes. But I highly disagree. To me, this game is underrated, imo and I wish they would do another with something from every year thus far.
@616Entertainment This is why you're a top-tier creator. I literally disagreed with you, and you interacted with me in a positive light. What a wonderful world this could be I'd everyone reacted the same.
I have a strong dislike for WWE Legends Of WrestleMania , this game is horrible . I love WWE SmackDown Vs Raw 2009 for PS2. There was a earlier WWF game called Microleague Wrestling (PC) in 1987, that's where the much beloved GM mode of WWE SmackDown Vs Raw 2006, 2007, and 2008 got their ideas from.
I enjoyed the game for what it was, just like I did with Showdown. I appreciate the old school feel that tried to represent.
It was also the last game I played with my uncle who passed away earlier this year. It was his 1st time playing this game & he beat me, lol. I’ll never trade that memory for anything. ☺️

(That way i would have the Scream Queen Daffney being my manager. even though she's WCW). But i did manage to get both 100% achievements on Xbox 360 & Platinum on the PS3.
There’s no Ricky Steamboat or Razor Ramon too!
@@Mickey-v7p and Diesel.
Nice, always love a Platski.
Cool
It's not a perfect game by any means but I found it to be enjoyable. I feel this game was for the older fan, this game felt almost like an arcade game like wrestlefest.
Glad to see some positive memories in the comments.
@@616Entertainment I've had this game for years I think everyone just focuses on the controls. I think if people can look pass that they'll shockingly find themselves lost in this game.
I had this game and I remember playing this it was ok but I just traded it after I got done with it
Yea, that makes sense.
I loved the arena's and the blood and a few other things but yeah it was rough.
Wasn't the sequel much better though? I remember having a good time with that
Oh shit okay no sequel lol, maybe it was one of the showdown games, because I still remember doing real moves
with the controller
Yea I mention Showdown: Legends Of Wrestling in this video, maybe that's what you're thinking of?
@@616Entertainment Yea must have been the second one I played most, The graphics were chunky but it had some fun factor!
I think it's pretty cool that you can import the superstars from SvR 09 to Legends of WrestleMania but i just didn't like this game at all lol
Ninja, can we please get that GTA content.
If we hit the goals, yes! I’m trying to get the signups man, I can’t force people to sign up!
I also have the AEW ljn figure Cody Rhodes and Darbi Allen I’ve not gotten Cm punk yet .
I hated this game upon release. I got sick of it and gave it to my cousin who didn't have SVR 2009 which is what I went back to playing
There is a better version of this game, and its called WWE 2K14. 30 Years of WrestleMania aka Legends of WrestleMania 2.
i enjoyed it a few bugs at the time but its my first wwe game that i platium then 2k14 was pure hell lol but its worth it though then now i just play them not to crazy like i was about it just for fun now but legends of wrestlemania isnt the best but is very fun and arcade style i love it
So your final assessment is, it's a dumpster fire, but an occasionally fun dumpster fire, which was pretty much my assessment when I played it years ago... and it doesn't look like it's worth revisiting
I've actually never played the KOC games, though I'd love to.
First game I ever platinumed
Shout out for the Platski!
The concept of this was good, the execution was poor. And they'd end up doing this better in 2K14.
This game is just ok at best. It was a good idea for the time, but could've been better.
Shout out to your uncle, my dude.
Are the "casual fans" in the room with us now, THQ? hahaha
lol
This game unfortunately came out during the time when qtes were getting popular.
Its like a rail shooter
Thumbs up because opinions are like assholes. But I highly disagree. To me, this game is underrated, imo and I wish they would do another with something from every year thus far.
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoy the game!
Ain't no woman on this game.🤧
LOWM was definitely Bad 😂 i enjoyed it but there wasnt mucb to this game
