That game’s BGM was just clean. I wish we can go back to BGM in the 2k games because these licensed music nowadays suck. It obvious we’ll never go back to the SVR days when it comes to the soundtracks.
That cage match😡 I haven’t played DOR 2 in years but I do remember that match. I still remember something that makes it easier to beat it though. I remember RKO-ing everyone and that gave me a fighting chance at least.
I will never forget that summerslam match. I got lucky with a glitch that froze everyone else so i could climb out. One of the most euphoric moments of my childhood
@@616EntertainmentSurprised you didn’t talk about how you can interrupt every move by hitting the wrestlers mid move. It makes triple threat and fatal four way chaotic fun.
I feel like the Day of Reckoning 2 what's in the same sense of No Mercy where you could have a lot more moves and finishers that you wouldn't see until the the 2K series for the longest time and you didn't have that many moves for your character in like the early 360 games it took a while for that the switch over
My 2nd favorite wrestling game ever. The CAW was awesome, the story mode was great, the gameplay was smooth and the roster was really good too. Great review dude.
The cool thing about these games at the time (Abe Simpson voice) was that the hit detection worked on objects and people dynamically like they do in modern games as opposed to the Smackdown series formula of say needing to set an opponent up with a table and initiate a canned animation.
When I said the let’s play style videos would be toned down and possibly phased out in favor of more scripted, in depth stuff, this is what I’m going for. Thank you for noticing.
No freaking way! A week after the first, you’re already doing the second, let’s freaking go!!!😁 This game truly means a lot to me personally. This was my very first ever wrestling game as a whole, and I can’t tell you how much me and my brother played the sh*t out of this game back then, and even nowadays whenever we have the chance. The gameplay was fantastic as ever, the story mode was amazing and was a HUGE improvement over the first, despite its BS moments (I’m looking at you, SummerSlam Fatal 4 Way Steel Cage match😂🤣), the graphics not only are tremendous, they still hold up incredibly well to this very day, the soundtrack while removing a lot of the licensed tracks the few we got like Burn It All by A Dark Halo, I swear it makes this game so much damn memorable. While the criticisms are valid here, the positives far outweigh the negatives here, and that’s why I love it so much. Thank you so much for the nostalgia, Ian, and thank you for always making legendary bangers left and right. You’re the best with retrospectives and I can’t wait for more of Triangle X Squared O in the future😌. I love you and all the DanDans, and I hope y’all have a good one.😊❤️

Speaking of story mode in DOR 2 my brother and i struggled for hours we suffer so much facing captain insano (big show) and RVD in steel cage triple threat match hoping to get both DOR 1 and 2 in my collection to relieve another childhood experience
That 4 way cage match was one of the most brutal things I experienced as a kid in a wrestling game story mode since the handicap matches with the APA in No Mercy 😂. BUT, there's an easy, maybe a little cheap, way of doing it. There are moves in the game (like the scissors kick) where the animation has you kick the opponent, they kneel down, you run to the ropes, and then the move finishes. If you do one of these moves and hit the button to target another wrestler as you're running, the move won't finish and the wrestler you were initially performing the move to gets frozen in the kneeling position. You can do that to all three wrestlers and win pretty easy. Cheap? Yes. But fuck that cage match 😂
I always made quick hitting finishers that has a lot of movement like the RKO or Stunner and allow the physics of the game to work its magic. The amount of crossfire damage you can do to other wrestlers you’re not doing the move to is insane.
Put thousands of hours into this back in the day. By far the best wrestling game of its generation and the gameplay alone was so good that it didn't need the gimmick matches that Smackdown (Vs Raw) series had. Fun fact: The game allows for a surprise win now and then if you do a roll up pin in the first few seconds of the match. (good way to piss off your mates)

@@616Entertainment so I'm curious do you use emulators for some of these videos or go out and buy the games? I know some of these games are outrageously overpriced. Thanks for the like btw!

Day of Reckoning 2 IS for sure better than 1, but i was always a little disappointed in it because there were no new match types and STILL no backstage areas. for that reason, the game i go back to the most is still WrestleMania XIX. it has the most variety with its Revenge Mode, AND by far the best roster out of any of them.

One thing I would criticize DoR2, it’s the loading time whenever I change anything about my custom character. Jesus, it’s like a 2 minute wait for every single thing 😭😂
I love the the let’s play series you do Ian but I also love hearing you’re takes and personal stories when you talk about games like you do for these videos. Like the DOR 1 I had the rose tinted glasses at first then you went on to explain you’re complaints for the game I was like damn yeah I do remember that being not so good
This has always been the best example of a “wrestling-sim” style WWE game that’s ever been put out IMO, at least in terms of gameplay & the A.I.-logic in single-matches. The submission system is still the absolute best of its kind, I truly believe. People used to complain about the stamina meter, and tho it is rough with low stats, i always appreciated how that particular feature truly made you think & strategize your every move when facing people like Angle, Taker, or Hogan on Legend difficulty. No way are you gonna win a match in this just mashing buttons & going full-out spot-fest mode, but few wrestling games make a hard-fought victory over an OP character feel like such a satisfying accomplishment. Can’t think of many other wrestling games that make you feel like you’re “working” a match w/ actual in-ring psychology at play just like a pro would, all while still providing intense unrivaled god-like difficulty for the hardcore players out there. And the graphics… in 2005/2006, for a GameCube game, this was basically Crysis-level advanced AF graphics. DoR2 is TRUE definition of an underrated gem.
You climb the cage faster if your adrenaline meter is flashing red! Best way to beat the cage match. You climb cold, you're in trouble. Similarly to No Mercy. If you're like in the blues you'll lose your grip and take a self bump on the mat.
Regal briefly had that theme as a face. I think it's supposed to sound like the stones but he's more into metal and aka like Saxton, Slade, The Specials.
I'm very glad you share the same opinion about DoR2 like me. Was so hyped about the prequel and liked it at first. Then the music got so annoying (yeah SvR had the same soundtrack plus a few more songs, but I didn't play it back then). After playing it with a friend for just a month I hid the game in a locker and pretended I sold the game. Didn't want to play DoR1 anymore because of the music. Gameplay was alright but didn't make up for the bad menu songs. Eventually sold it after two months after that. Following year DoR2 came out without much fanfare. Bought it and wasn't hyped nearly as much like with the first one. Was pleased with the music not being that annoying and the overall game being better, although not essentially better. Liked the storymode a lot more than DoR1's bland story. Might be a little crazy, but I played DoR2 for like 3 years before it got boring. Great game and a worthy last hooray for the shortlived series.
i full on quit the Story Mode once i got to that cage match. also Wario World is an underrated gem. i'd sell my copy to you if you don't mind the fact that my mom wrote my name on the disk in sharpie for some reason.
You oughta check out some of the CAW Shows I've helped put on and that I'm actively a part of when it comes to Day of Reckoning. My buddy Ellibod has absolutely mastered the art of utilizing this game to put on a show. The Forbidden DoR Mod is also cool. It's like almost putting absolutely everything from the GameCube Games and then some all into Day of Reckoning.
I still haven't beaten that fatal 4 way cage match to this day. I think I might need to invest in a gamecube just to beat it. It's been nearly 20 years since I've played it.
GameCube was a beast the discs were an issue and the compression used. We always knew we weren't getting a ps2 esq game with all thr modes. We were happy with having an original game for our Nintendo those of of use who went from thr snes to 64 thrn finally GC. WWE releases always felt special back then like a star wars game did. We knew it was thr inferior game compared to SD or SvR but we didnt care. This game was thr perfect send off form WWE on thr GC. Great video 🤟✌️
I figured if they made Day Of Reckoning 3, they'd based it off the 05-06 roster. SD: Batista, Rey Mysterio, Kurt Angle, Eddie Guerrero, Randy Orton, Undertaker, Booker T, JBL, Bobby Lashley, Chris Benoit, Mr. Kennedy, Finlay, Mark Henry, Matt Hardy, William Regal, Chavo Guerrero, Paul London, Brian Kendrick, Johnny Nitro, Joey Mercury and The Boogeyman. RAW: John Cena, Edge, Triple H, HBK, Mick Foley, Rob Van Dam Ric Flair, Carlito, Big Show, Kane, Chris Masters, Umaga, Shane Mcmahon Shelton Benjamin, Lance Cade, Trevor Murdoch, Snitsky, VIscera and Vince McMahon Divas: Trish Stratus, Lita, Mickie James, Melina, Victoria, Torrie Wilson, Candice Michelle, Krystal Marshall and Jillian Hall. Legends: The Rock, Stone Cold, Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, Mr. Perfect, and Roddy Piper. ECW: Sabu, Tommy Dreamer, Sandman, Dawn Marie and Justin Credible. It'll pretty much be a lesser version of SVR '07 with half the modes cut due to the game cartridge.
I hope you talk about that god awful fatal 4 way cage match. EDIT: THANK YOU. I COULD NEVER BEAT THE STORY MODE BECAUSE OF THE GAME AS A KID. I played ita few years ago as an adult and prioritized speed and stamina and used the stunner and clothesline from hell as finishers. And made my guy a cruiserweight. As soon as i beat it i went back to being a heavyweight grappler like i always do. Brutal match lol it always came down to the timer and not even a cpu escaping. Shit was one of the hardest most infuriating levels in any game. Not just wrestling ones.
This Comment is funny Marvelle My Cousin Mission Complete on what you said LOL!😆😆😆 About Paul London when Tony Chimel was not finished with his introduction! Mission Failed to Tony Chimel for being too slow and this happened to other WWE Wrestling Games where The Announcers are too slow to finish their introductions to Paul London if it's a special match stipulation. But, This Comment is done Cousin!
Need that VPW2 video. I need you to see the MMA mode and pre match promos. In other news I was able to find a Dan Severn CAW for the game and it looks good
Paul London's intro is nearly shot-for-shot his Velocity intro for the first of his four amazing matches he had with Akio (Jimmy Wang Yang) They added a fancier camera on the ramp. Right when London hits the right, the camera changes to that angle behind the fans and the commentators read 3 ads with their respective graphics filling most of the screen. Remember when they did that every show? It's be like Skittles, JVC KaBoomBox, Motor oil or some LUGZ... wtf exactly is their key demo? A young construction worker with a family? Anyway I'm sure London has the outfit on in DOR 2 in Akio vs London I (out of IV.) Always hated how nearly every game had London OR Kendrick. SVR '09 has both so I never sold it to GameStop.
Honestly, the Gamecube is THE console for wrestling games. You have the four best WWE games outside of No Mercy, both Def Jam games, not to mention Ultimate Muscle, which in a lot of ways is No Mercy 2. Wrestling fans with a Gamecube ate surprisingly well.
14:54 On the Wii the first 2 SVR games released on it were not just regular ports they were actually different in gameplay and other ways than the ones on other systems, they used the motion controls which was actually pretty fun from what I hear, I never played them myself so I can't say if they were fun or not
The corner-camera angle is the standard angle in Rumble Roses. It also plays like a weird hybrid of some the SvR titles, but I don't think you'll be able to monetize a video on it...
DOR2 is still one of my favorite wrestling games of all time. It is a hall of fame worthy contender for wrestling games. The one thing I wish they would have included in the 2nd rendition is the ref mechanics. Mess with the ref in the original DOR and he would stun your ass! Just minor gripes if I had to complain about something.
The first DoR will always be better than the second one imo. I hated the stamina system on DoR2, and I actually liked the licensed music in the first game. Also all of the pauses in between every option when making a CAW drove me crazy lol
12:16 All this time I NEVER knew 616 was a HIM reference apparently Also I had that same question when playing SD vs Raw 2006 on the PS2 I don't think Regal EVER had that theme
If I remember correctly i had a ton of fun with this one. Created a terrible looking version of keiji Mutoh with a banger of an entrance using the song "falling appart" by Zebrahead. Not 100% sure if it was DoR2 or DoR.
That was Paul London and William Regal’s actual themes at the time, that’s why they’re in the game.
I didn't question London's theme in general. Was pointing out that it sounds exactly like that HIM song.

Like the DOR 1 I had the rose tinted glasses at first then you went on to explain you’re complaints for the game I was like damn yeah I do remember that being not so good
Yea, still a good game, just not perfect.
This game sure does hold up!
Absolutely.
This has always been the best example of a “wrestling-sim” style WWE game that’s ever been put out IMO,
at least in terms of gameplay & the A.I.-logic in single-matches.
Dude absolutely. The graphics are insane for their time, especially on the Gamecube.
That pedigree hell in a cell bump was so sick.
Awesome game! Loved playing this and countering finishers with people back and forth
So good.
I bought a GameCube because of the resident evil remake, was worth it be fair
So, so good.
Rumble Roses uses the corner cam...
It does, you're right. I even have a 616Thunder episode on it and I forgot, lol
You climb the cage faster if your adrenaline meter is flashing red! Best way to beat the cage match. You climb cold, you're in trouble. Similarly to No Mercy. If you're like in the blues you'll lose your grip and take a self bump on the mat.
The Fatal Four Way Steel Cage Match...
Insaaaaaaane.
DOR2 way better, for sure.
The lifting of the head is kinda funny like everyone's a heel and are just like "look" 😂
If only heels did it, it'd be more understandable!
Me and my brothers favorite game on GameCube. Always played as hurricane
Great game!
i full on quit the Story Mode once i got to that cage match. also Wario World is an underrated gem. i'd sell my copy to you if you don't mind the fact that my mom wrote my name on the disk in sharpie for some reason.
Hahahaha mom on protection duty, I love it.
Was waiting for this miss the game cube days
My brother and I still play this game!
Hell yea!
RAW: John Cena, Edge, Triple H, HBK, Mick Foley, Rob Van Dam Ric Flair, Carlito, Big Show, Kane, Chris Masters, Umaga, Shane Mcmahon Shelton Benjamin, Lance Cade, Trevor Murdoch, Snitsky, VIscera and Vince McMahon
Divas: Trish Stratus, Lita, Mickie James, Melina, Victoria, Torrie Wilson, Candice Michelle, Krystal Marshall and Jillian Hall.
Day Of Reckoning 2 really did a good job for the Gamecube.
In my opinion DOR2 might be tied with No Mercy. Great, great game. The CAW was so fun to mess around with friends
That fatal 4 way was tough enough but the fact that it had Kane in it took it to soulsborne levels of difficulty
Hahahaha
Back in 2005 the 4 way cage match during story mode made me cry so hard when I was a kid I refused to play that game ever again 😂
Hahahahahaha
“I put that shit RIGHT back down” lmaoooo
Dude no way, lol
I had to change my finisher to one with k.o. effect to win that fatal 4way cage match
That boy Paul London said he got places to be he don't get paid by the hour
Hahahaha
This Comment is funny Marvelle My Cousin Mission Complete on what you said LOL!😆😆😆 About Paul London when Tony Chimel was not finished with his introduction! Mission Failed to Tony Chimel for being too slow and this happened to other WWE Wrestling Games where The Announcers are too slow to finish their introductions to Paul London if it's a special match stipulation. But, This Comment is done Cousin!
Need that VPW2 video. I need you to see the MMA mode and pre match promos. In other news I was able to find a Dan Severn CAW for the game and it looks good
Paul London's intro is nearly shot-for-shot his Velocity intro for the first of his four amazing matches he had with Akio (Jimmy Wang Yang)
They added a fancier camera on the ramp.
Anyway I'm sure London has the outfit on in DOR 2 in Akio vs London I (out of IV.)
Always hated how nearly every game had London OR Kendrick. SVR '09 has both so I never sold it to GameStop.
Can we get a documentary of the injustice games?
Honestly, the Gamecube is THE console for wrestling games. You have the four best WWE games outside of No Mercy, both Def Jam games, not to mention Ultimate Muscle, which in a lot of ways is No Mercy 2. Wrestling fans with a Gamecube ate surprisingly well.
I'm a PS2 guy, but it's hard to go wrong on Gamecube, there's no doubt.
Lets go! Always up for a 616 upload!
Yessir!
14:54 On the Wii the first 2 SVR games released on it were not just regular ports they were actually different in gameplay and other ways than the ones on other systems, they used the motion controls which was actually pretty fun from what I hear, I never played them myself so I can't say if they were fun or not
I just mean having their own specific series. I'm sure they were pretty different, had to be!
Didn't even touch on the custom entrances and the tag moves or tag call in options. DoR 2 is an amazing wrestling game and call back to the N64 days.
WWE SmackDown Vs Raw 2006 (PS2) is so much better than WWE Day Of Reckoning 2
Damn, i need to get another gamecube so i can play these classics
Finally!! Grew up w this game
Great game.
I'm watching this channel to improve my English. This game is one of the best.
Your English is great, I never wouldn't known you weren't a native speaker.
Best way to win the fatal 4 way cage match is set your finisher to the big swing that way you can hit everyone around you
This is a good call.
The corner-camera angle is the standard angle in Rumble Roses. It also plays like a weird hybrid of some the SvR titles, but I don't think you'll be able to monetize a video on it...
Hahahaha hey, I think I did a 616Thunder on it that didn't get demonetized.
This game series was awesome.
Big time.
Dude the ref went nuts on me recording some footage for the last episode, lol
The first DoR will always be better than the second one imo. I hated the stamina system on DoR2, and I actually liked the licensed music in the first game.
Also all of the pauses in between every option when making a CAW drove me crazy lol
The CAW pauses are indeed annoying, but I've got DOR2 > DOR1 by like 100,000 miles.
12:16 All this time I NEVER knew 616 was a HIM reference apparently
Also I had that same question when playing SD vs Raw 2006 on the PS2 I don't think Regal EVER had that theme
50% HIM, 50% personal reference, yes. I've explained it in a couple Q&As on the channel.
If I remember correctly i had a ton of fun with this one. Created a terrible looking version of keiji Mutoh with a banger of an entrance using the song "falling appart" by Zebrahead. Not 100% sure if it was DoR2 or DoR.
That's DOR1!
Figures 😂!@@616Entertainment Guess I now have to play this one for old times sake.
