  • In a recent interview, Richard Dawkins stated that he considers himself a "cultural Christian" and that he is afraid of the likelihood that Islam will become the dominant religion in Europe soon.
There is much to unpack from Dawkins's statements. I have been long-time acquintances with Dawkins's and have debated him in the past. If you have listened to him in the past, this position is not new for him. Let me explain.

@@Yesica1993 The difference between the believer & the literate person is a use of fantasy vocabulary. Christians have selective memory of the bible, ignoring all the embarrassing stories: selecting allegory as convenience for the nonsense.

I don't think it's necessarily incoherent. He's basically saying that he likes the behavioral customs and general grace that people have that is taught by Christianity. He just wants that without God.
Now, I don't think that'll actually ever happen or be possible, which is one of the reasons I am Christian. But as such, I don't think we need to make fun of his idea as incoherent. He's a perfectly smart guy, just misguided.

Think about how much mercy and love God has shown this man through the years! Not only has he had countless opportunities to interact with Christians, but to interact with Christians who are skilled in apologetics and who are his educational/intellectual equals. He has had the opportunity to discuss questions that perhaps an average Christian would struggle to address. As a younger person, I, like many others, dismissed God and the Bible. However, now at 46, I find myself searching for something more substantial, especially given the troubling state of the world. As you mentioned, I believe that Christianity offers invaluable moral guidance that is sorely needed in our society.
In my opinion, I think many people will increasingly turn to the Bible, seeking answers and support during these challenging times. My hope is that through faith, we can find salvation not only for ourselves, but also help guide others towards redemption.
Unity, not division, is our most powerful weapon against the harmful ideologies that have taken root in our world today. By coming together under the Banner of Christ, we can overcome the forces of darkness and work towards a brighter future.

Ignore how the atheist see you,
You find yourself among those preaching to the choir.
There is a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore, looking like an idiot. “You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”
One speaks to the choir because literate people will not listen to you. Your God is of incompetence. Jesus fails to complete the job for 2000 years. The Jews still don't buy your Messiah story. J Atwill has proven Jesus is a complete fabrication by Romans, not Christians or Jews. Moses, the war-criminal, proves only; God & faith makes the worst navigator in the world. And Jesus is the ultimate hypocrite by performing all sorts of signs and saying the only one given is Jonah, who was a believer tossed overboard by other believers to calm a storm. The Christian Faith is ludicrous & has no future because of itself.
It is amusing to hear the profound arrogance of someone knowing of God, as if He were known outside of fiction. The believer & the literate are separated by the vocabulary of fiction: Blasphemy, God, faith, prayer, prophet, etc. Matthew 17:20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” I like asking believers how they can possibly think their faith is respectable, given Jesus said faith is worthless, since you can't expect obedience when ordering mountains to move? Freud wrote, "The antidote to Christianity is literacy".
Blasphemy is a fiction vocabulary word. Blasphemy is a victimless crime.

I feel it too! Time is running out, & there are too many lost souls, searching but never finding answers. I am compelled to share the gospel with anyone who is searching for answers. U-tube comment sections are fertile ground for people outright asking how they can know God, & Jesus Christ. I always reply. We must!
I think 2024 - at the beginning of Rosh Hashana, which is the Jewish feast of trumpets . In fact, back then - no one would know the "day or the hour" that the high priest would blow his trumpet, declaring the feast of the Bride & Groom has commenced.
Are we AS CHRISTIANS described by Jesus as his Bride, & he is our groom? YES! The Trumpet sounds, & the wedding supper of the Lamb commences!
I cannot believe that western Christians have completely missed this! We've been told, we cannot know the day or hour, that Jesus comes back. Jesus said this to his desciples before his assention. Everyone knew that that Jewish idiom referred to the fact that only the high priest knew (according to the solstice) the day & hour that the ROSH Hashana (the wedding feast of the Lamb) kicked off with a trumpet blast from the high priest!!! Thus -signaling the people to prepare the feast, & come. In modern time (we know the date figured out on Jewish calenders already ahead of time) Rosh Hashanna begins at sundown on the first Saturday of Sept. (double check the calender !)
I plan to be ready , in case Jesus blows the trumpet this Sept. If not, there is always next year. I feel it might be this year. Wow! that would change everything in the US elections. 🫢🫨🤯😱🙌🫶👀💃🕺⏳🎺✝️

Indeed, Max Weber already said it decades ago in his book Protestant Ethics and the Spirit of Capitalism, religious values are transferred to the social and political structure. Whether atheists recognize it or not, the Christian ethos has been a fundamental part of the societies that emerged under its protection: the West. But, the problem is that the Christian faith is a belief and a way of life that emerges from that belief. The way of life (culture) really does not exist without faith. Therefore, when the majority of the population stops believing and living that faith, society begins to reproduce a new ethos. Hence, if they want a society with a Christian culture, that society must begin to live in the principles of that faith, otherwise what we are seeing happening today happens, including the incorporation of Islam and its brutality in our societies and countries. This is something that many of us complain about, but it will not diminish until we return to faith in Christ.

Maybe Dawkins does not realize that the construct above whether that is atheism, or a false fanatical religious system is in fact the same misnomer, that ultimately is futile and impotent. The determining factor is the foundation of that structure, thus once Christ is being removed from any society the end result is the same: cruelty, dictatorship and destruction. Gone are moral decency, restraint and amiability because such quality spring from the divine essence running through the spiritual veins of a real regenerated person not a cultural freak trying to fake an intrinsic essence that's missing.

I don’t judge I know God can change anyone Richard sees the writing on the wall he came from a generation built on Bible principles he thought that the failings of many ppl in the church meant that the church was false as the Bible says LET GOD BE FOUND TRUE‼️ THOUGH EVERY MAN BE A LIAR‼️ Men are sinners they cannot keep Gods word fully we have to pray for each other to keep trying when we are tested. Satan can use your shortcomings to stumble ppl don’t let our sinful nature take you away from God return return Richard while he is merciful to forgive you and me. Michigan here Larry! Great observation about the essence of the nature of all creation. Jesus Christ allows us to transition to the nature of God. Imperfectly, of course, but from our original fallen, sin nature, the transition can be quite astounding!
BTW - we lost our GSD in January to cancer. Still heartbroken... But your bit about the lady in Great Britain who transitioned her dog to vegetarianism (hah!) and about the nature of dogs as carnivore reminded me of Rocky when he was about a year old. I walked into the kitchen to put up the remains of dinner, a half rotisserie chicken. The plate it had been on was on the counter, totally spotless. Rocky had devoured every last morsel, liked the plate clean, and somehow kept it on the counter. 😂 I was quite amazed, and I looked up to see him peering out at me from his crate. Lived in fear the next couple days due to the bones, but he went on to live another 10 years, and blessed our lives immeasureably!

Yeah, no. Religious customs and culture do not necessarily need that religion to exist in order for them to survive. Christmas is the best example - nothing about it is inherently christian: the date, the tree(s) the food, the decorations. Dawkins' issue isn't in christianity disappearing, it is with it being replaced with Islam, and not by Muslim people coming to live in the UK, but by the Brits themselves. His issue is with the Brits having no respect for their history and legacy
