On the first episode of Car Trek Series 5, the guys get a taste of the good life by taking a joyride in the mother of all dream cars - the irreplaceable and jaw-droppingly gorgeous McLaren F1. They they get the keys to their own personal dream cars and find out if they're impressive enough for the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance. Ed brings his Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, Tyler has an AMG SLS, complete with gullwing doors, and Freddy rolls up in an Aston Martin DBS, in full James Bond spec. Some feelings may be hurt on this one...

It's amazing how fresh the F1 still looks today. This car is from the mid 90s and it doesn't look "old". It's such a beautiful car.
But amazingly, people call the T50 outdated despite looking almost identical to the F1

I was born in the UK, now residing in Cyprus. I grew up with Top Gear and have watched every episode repeatedly. The same with the Grand Tour. NOTHING has ever come close to those two Tv series.......except now. You three guys and the Car Trek team have earn the right to take the crown and lead people like us onward to the next generation. This is the current gold standard of car TH-cam. I'd love to see a crossover with Throttle House or Rory Reid as well. So awesome to see what's possible on this platform. Great work, guys.
The beginning sets the tone perfectly. Ed's beautiful way with words combined with his unending childlike enthusiasm for the F1 creates a very genuine tone, and it's incredible.
This is, in my opinion, the only car show that even comes close to The Grand Tour. It's better than almost every car show out there.

Agree, 165k is the lowest price (for gull wing model) on autotrader or autotempest for an 80k mile edition. 135k is a joke!

If you had ended the episode after the F1 drive, it would have still been worth the watch. Instead, you give us three iconic cars, the man who created the best concours in America, and Tyler Hoover's nemesis. This is what Car Trek does best, and I can't wait to see what's next
So, I’ve had back surgery 3 times the last year and have had to take tremendous amounts of painkillers. Being in bed for long times has been sooo boring but following your channel and watching Car Trek has brightened up a lot. Thanks 🤗

I'm not going to lie, I teared up in the first 5 minutes. The McLaren F1 has always been my dream car. I'm so happy for you guys that you got to experience the pinnacle of automotive engineering. I believe, technically, the T50 will win out but the McLaren F1 was "the" car, and still is for many of us. Oh, and thanks so much to AutoTempest for allowing a lot of this to happen!

I was able to pass my love for these cars on to my son….at Amelia many years ago.

Cartrek is the true successor to Top Gear, 1000%. Love how this show has progressed. Keep it going!
Its not. Its a cringefest. Its 100 times worse then the Top Gear season after the Clarkson, May and Hammond left. Ed is unbearable to watch which I don't understand since I enjoy his channel. He just doesn't click with Hoovie and Tavarish and he feels forced. And the manlet with the manbun obviously didn't do his homework when it comes to the value of the cars. There are a few DBS's that have sold with higher mileage for more than 130k. I just watch for the cringe at this point.

I was on board with Ed's love for the Murcielago until he mentioned the LFA. The bedroom wall, never-meet-hero is the Ferrari F40, but 2nd for me is the LFA, mostly for the sound. That said, I have a HUGE love for the Mercy SV, because it was the basically the last of the line before even Lambo had to start sanitising for emissions.
Agreed. The first time I saw an F40 I spent half an hour just in awe. I drank in everything that had always captivated me about it. It still is my apex dream car. It was actually the same day I unexpectedly met Mario Andretti and had a far-too-brief chat with him before a crowd of people spotted him. I met two of my heroes in a two hour span and was not disappointed in either situation. (Mr. Andretti is the coolest guy in the known universe.) As for the LFA, it’s glorious sound won me over instantly. I’ve yet to see one in front of me but eventually that day will come. I look at it as being my obtainable dream car and I will enjoy every second of ownership given the opportunity.
The LFA doesn't sound better than the Murci sorry to burst your bubble. It's an egregiously overpriced Toyota with very few redeeming qualities.

As I say the Murci sounds lovely and definitely the best of the Car Trek trio, but I love the sound of a V10's. That's just my opinion, and when it comes to the sound of gases escaping a metal tube, it's 100% subjective.
And if we were going down the 'it's just an overpriced X', one could say the Murci is just an overpriced Audi. And is an equally nonsense statement; they're both low volume rare and special machines.

Sellers back out of sales all the time. John probably has similar situations happen on a daily basis in his line of work. It's hardly like John'a hurting for business in this insane car market right now anyway. He needs to let it go, but I think most of the interaction with him on this episode was manufactured drama and not much else.
