Wicked cool! The day I got my license way back in 1983...my friend's Dad said I could come and borrow his 1979 Chrysler 300 for the night. This beautiful white on red interior car had 14000 miles on it and was in MINT condition! I'd previously had the pleasure of driving it prior while on my learner's permit with his Dad in the car. Let's just say I was the more responsible of the two (his son) of us...so when he offered the car, I accepted quick!! I picked it up after having my Dad drop me off. Even he couldn't believe I was going to have a cool ride for the night.
38 years later...I still remember pretty much every moment of that evening. It was very cool and the 300 got maybe 150 miles added to it. Dropped it off at my friend's house precisely at 1 am (when my newly printed license expired unless I had a licensed driver over 21 with me) and walked home. I know, it's not a McLaren F1...what car is? But when you're 16 and just got your license hours before...it might as well as been. Corinthian leather too!!

In 2001 I worked in Boston as VP for a software startup. A board member had a new F1 that he drove to our monthly board meetings. I did not even know what it was, but I did enjoy hanging around it in the parking lot. Pretty amazing to think this car was just left to chill parked next to my Maxima in a mostly empty parking lot. I remember thinking the design was beautiful and the 3 seat configuration was very cool for an expensive little sports car. Now I wish I had taken the time to get the owner to take me out for a spin. He was a cool investor who would show up in cargo shorts, sandals and a tee shirt to keep an eye on the company he had invested his fund in.

Yes, come visit the Revs! It is open to the public on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Must purchase tickets in advance. Docent tours are totally worth it. On Saturdays, the doors to the shop are open so you can get a glimpse into that magical (and amazingly clean) place while the mechanics are off. See you there!

When i think about 20M+ for a 1992 car, suddenly it becomes less radical when i see it's beauty and all the tech work put on it. And then, seeing the 3 huge smiles on board makes full circle. Happy for you guys! New Achieve Unlocked.

So excited to watch this episode. I was born on Amelia Island and actually followed a Bugatti Veyron to that same boat ramp 8-9 years ago!! That was a childhood dream come to life - I wish I had known this was happening, I was out of town for this year's Concours.

I fell in love with the F-1 in 1996 as a 20 year old. 2 years after that I spotted a silver one driving in Dallas. That memory is etched in my brain! It is the epitome of automobile perfection. One day I will see one in person again, one day.

I love it when these guys like Ed, Tavares’s, and even Doug DeMuro talk about not being able to afford to fix it if it breaks. If it breaks and it cost $20,000- $40k to fix, some of you guys have hundreds of thousands of dollars of car equity sitting around in your garage. I’m pretty sure you could fix it lol

The Revs Institute is Absolutely Amazing. Need an appointment to go but Sooo worth it. The docents are all car buffs specializing in the area where they work. Spending as much time with you as you’d like, dropping tons of insights. Soooo personalized. The Mac 22 (was) sitting just off to the side of the entry hall. Couldn’t walk around it, but could get very close. Just not as close as these three yahoos. Soo lucky.

Man I have loved Car Trek, and the McLaren F1 is the most awesome car I have ever heard of. I remember watching and learning everything about it as a kid when it first came out. My computer started up with the sound of a McLaren, every sound was a McLaren, the wallpaper was a McLaren, the cursor was a McLaren... Anyway Thanks for the video. Very awesome.

Every single vinwiki car story I’ve watched (and there’s been many) I have thoroughly enjoyed not only because they’re fantastic stories but also because they’re told by fantastic story tellers. Is it just some supernatural gift that once you become a car guy, you become an incredible story teller?

My absolute dream car since I was 6 when I did a small article about Bruce Mclaren. When I lived in NZ (I moved to Germany 2020) during the 2020 lockdown, I was fortunate enough to be able to keep working, and so on my normal work journey in the mornings, I see this F1 traveling to the city, which I then saw this same McLaren most mornings for 3months. I thought that was awesome considering how much they're worth etc. Absoute beauty of a car if you ever see one in real life.
