Clear gas is gasoline without ethanol.
I’m surprised they sell ethanol gas since it’s not safe for water use since the ethanol will bond with the water and is inseparable if there is a spill, and will kill fish. The gasoline can be absorbed with a spill pad or boom, but not the ethanol.
totally worth the extra cost. ethanol is garbage.
It is better to.use in a outboard motors because ethanol deteriorates rubber hoses. Most of the older motors have fuel hoses that are not ethanol friendly that leads to plugged carborator or leaking hoses. In Michigan most gas stations near a lake sell Rec 90 which the same. In the fall put it in your take before storage to prevent water build up. Ethanol absorbs water.

Beautiful scenery around the harbor. When Shawn was standing outside and had the beautiful red/orange sky it reminded me of an old saying. Red sky at night a sailors delight, red sky in the morning sailors take warning and sure enough the rain and thunder. Great fireworks and Happy Birthday Mr. Sully !! They both looked so cute with the birthday hats !

Always enjoy you guys bringing people along on your travels and day to day life aboard. We were not blessed with children so our fur babies enjoyed our boating over 47 years of marriage and 51 years together. Loved the seeing Sully’s BD Party. Happy Fourth of year Dino is the bomb. Awesome to see all the patriotism, people gather to celebrate this great country. We usually spend the 4th on our boat here on the Columbia, but after seeing this we may have to join the chaotic fun and head to Roche Harbor next year.
Clear gas is non-ethanol. Most outboard engines require it (if you don't want to void your warranty.)

The Pacific Northwest …. great boating and magnificient scenery and RAIN. You folks essentially live in a temperate rainforest zone. But with that comes the magnificent lush flora. I enjoy you videos, and even my wife, who does not share my yen to be on the water, watches. I noticed two of my favorite boat brands cruise by Freedom. I love Ocean Alexanders and it it tough to find a more eye catching boat than that blue Belize. Calm seas to the crew of MV Freedom and may the wind be at your back.

Good advise for anchor setting, so many boaters drop their anchors thinking its good enough but then the weather changes and tides and they find things have let loose.

Think you need a first of July tradition to honour your Canadian cousins, our Canada day. So I tried to think of something cheap and easy to do on your boat. So on the first of July serve Canadian maple syrup with pancakes or french toast as a salute to your northern neighbours. And a good excuse to purchase maple syrup.
Enjoy your videos, living a MV sailors life through you both. We are homesteaders an 24 acres in East Texas, always wanted a SV to keep on the Gulf of Mexico, but its hard tobleave the homestead. We do have a question about the float planes, how do you know where they are landing and taking off so that you keep out of their way? Do they use the marine radio to let boaters know? They’re lowest in the pecking order so they have to go around boats. Kinda crazy but they’re quite skilled!

@@mvfreedom that’s “creepily”correct. We operate in 3D with a bird’s eye view so landing is not as bad as one might think. Taking off has challenges, especially around the less predictable PWC (jetskis). Overall it’s wonderful to experience.

The problem I have with anchoring in the SJIs is where to drop the anchor in relation to the other boats (It's easy when your first or uncrowded). When you consider scope and swing, once I back off and set the anchor I am often closer than I like.

Are there portions of the bay that are bouyed off for them? or anything? Just wondered. I've trained pilots that fly float aircraft but never flown them myself. Thanks

SEA VENTURE another boat blog, bought fuel in bulk, 700 gallons for $279 gal in Port Angeles last week on there way to Mexico.
That was filmed a long time ago, they left for California last year.

In the past M/V Sea Venture on a world cruize with boat and Mfg. owner aboard passed thru the NW after an Alaska cruise.a few years ago (pre-covid) They actually replaced that M/V Sea Venture with a newer boat part way thru the world cruise.
Roche Harbor is just beautiful! Great editing as well. I need to learn how to video edit. I am always jealous that you get to spend as much time there and in the San Juans as you do. Just a curious question here. What would you say has been the largest yacht the two of you have seen in Roche Harbor on the 4th of July?
