Hi Guys! Just a shout out from Washougal WA. I am in the process of buying a Bayliner 3888 MY ( Don't hate me, I know it isn't a Nordhaven! But I've loved them for 30 years!). I plan to spend some time likely in a year or two in the San Juan's during the summers. Your stories and experiences are invaluable as well as entertaining. Not one criticism of anything you guys are doing. You are living the dream most of us simply can't pull off. Any crap you get from the glass half full crowd is simply jealousy. Just keep living your best life. Thank you for taking the time for sharing your adventures. I know there is lots of monkey motion around continually producing content. PS Elizabeth, congratulations on winning the Dino battle!

Midwinter cruising-you never know what you'll find. The weather may be cold and dark but Mr. Sully keeps it light. Who knew he was a Chelsea Fan? As to derelicts, a marina upstream of us went out of business 15 years ago. The owner disappeared and the authorities have been unable to locate them and hence, no one can agree who is responsible for the clean up. During the recent storms, a 60-foot chunk of it complete with shrubbery and large rusty nails, drifted downstream and wedged itself between our boat and the shore. We radioed a local guy with small boat who came and towed it over to the opposite mudbank and parked it on the flats. I hope we don't see it again but there's more where that came from. Thanks for another great episode, guys!

although I don't KNOW the answer, I think people abandon their boats there(on Vashon). I bet there has been a sinking boat or two there for over 40 years. the first time (in the 70's) my dad and I boated around there he got worried at first and tried to contact someone and then we realized almost none of the boats looked cared for. over the years I've pasted by that anchorage many times (I'm sick of waiting in that ferry line lol). I can't say I've ever seen any activity around any of those boats, It must happen sometimes, but you wouldn't know it by me

While you still travel in view of the coast its perfect, you cannot afford to be wrong outside the view of land. The last thing you need is electrical or mechanical problem a few hundred miles from shore and no plan.

I was wondering if you had considered ceramic coating the exterior painted surfaces down to the waterline. The way it protects cars by repelling water and dirt is it possible it could reduce the cleaning maintenance? I realize the harsh environment the boat exists in would reduce the life expectancy of the product, but it might reduce your work load for a few years or before you head to the east coast.

I’ve lived most of my life in the south end of Seattle, when god said he would never let it gain for 40 days and 40 nights Seattle was excluded in that contract. I like the way the Nordoff boats, but if money were of no problem, a Flemings 65 footer would be on my radar scope, there are many reasons for that decision, right of the top of the list would be the amount of redundancy of all the operating systems on board, and it having 2 main engines, i know what the cost of living is in King county, and it’s one of the reasons I don’t live any where near there, so it makes good sense to live on a boat if you can get a place to dock for a $1000 bucks a month, any higher then a small apartment would make better sense, thanks for reading Lyman from Moses lake, Washington

@@marksanderson5135 yup I can see an advantage to having the option of higher speed at times, to get out of the way of weather for example, or to be somewhere on schedule. Other than that, I think higher speeds also have higher risks in Puget Sound with all of the deadheads (partially submerged logs), and other floating debri.

@@marksanderson5135 I was thinking Fleming 55 also. I realize there probably isn't anything in the 43 foot range that has the ocean crossing capability of the Nordhavn, but the idea of being so speed limited under any condition seems a big compromise. Too bad Fleming doesn't make a 45!

Another great video, thanks. Y’all are a lot like I was back in my boating days. I considered time at the dock as time wasted. Enough about that. Elizabeth, if you haven’t taken the captains course yet, may I suggest you consider taking a captains course at a local Sea School (or by another name) I did and enjoyed the course and learned a lot. But the best thing was that they gave us all the questions that would be on the test, and of course the answers. Important because at that time there were several questions that you had to mark one of the wrong answers to get credit for the question. Others had no correct answers and they would accept only one of the incorrect answers. Thanks to the school, I scored 100 on the exam. Take care and STAY SAFE.
