Back in the sixties Car&Driver magazine recorded a Pontiac Catalina at 3.9 seconds 0-60mph. Only traction control device was an LSD, it was on road tires, narrow ones by today's standard. It would have been remarkable today, but in the sixties...
If it was at a track (near certain - because who else has timing gear) then this would have included 1ft roll out - thus saving around 0.2sec, and instead of 62mph (100kmh) would have saved 0.2 sec. On a prepped surface you usually see 0.75sec advantage for a powerful RWD car compared to a road surface. If it was tested today. A lot of US car testing in the day and sometimes still even now allows drag slicks/radials for their “stock” testing. Either way it’s fast because of the technology limitations but would probably be a 5sec car nowadays if tested like Ross does
Sorry, Not in a MILLION years. Do you have Any idea what a Catalina is? It is the Biggest car that Pontiac made. They ran around 15 + second quarter miles stock.
