You have to think of it from a business point of view, alcohol is okay for the average joe to post on youtube, but as a business you wouldn't want to show that and give the wrong impression, even if 99.9% of the viewers would be okay with it.
Not everyone drinks on the ice. I am one of those people. I will gladly have a few off the ice back home or camp but honestly Alcohol slows your reaction, thins your blood making it more difficult to stay warm and promotes poor judgement. So if you do happen to go through being drunk will not aid you in saving your self or one of your buddies.
Some people are just terrible students. He introduced her to ice fishing as you would a 5 year old. Jig jig wait.... not much instruction to follow lmao. Some people are just not cut out for fishing lol.
*Prompt delivery with great packaging **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it’s the hat is just as described with the fit being perfect. Really going to enjoy using my hat.*
Something I like about Steve is that he doesn't pretend it's all cut and dried, perfect and there's no suffering, nor does he ignore the fact or even revel in that he's taking life. He's very matter of fact about killing and the different perspectives on that subject, as well as the reality that nature is far crueler than most people are comfortable with.
I think I remember Steve saying on a podcast he’s got 10 years of just Meat Eater filmed, not mentioning all these extra shows. I could be getting people or shows mixed up though.
I love it when Tracy Crane is featured on Meat Eater! She gives voice to my thoughts and feelings on hunting/fishing: I respect the sport and even want to try but I empathize a lot with the animal. If it weren't for my husband's "adult on-set hunting" obsession (where you get into hunting as an adult) I would never have any sort of desire to hunt. So, watching her gives me confidence to get out there and embrace the wild. Thanks Tracy!
Personally I feel better about hunting and fishing for the food I eat than buying it in a grocery store. Killing and catching your own food is better than it being raised in a pen or a building in my eyes. Go out and hunt a deer or a rabbit.... catch a fish and eat it and find out for yourself how it feels to harvest your own food.
Her whining commentary when steven was teaching her how to fish was kinda annoying other than that it's refreshing to hear a womens thoughts on the subjects at hand
@@edcko10 I didn't find it whiny at all. Steve was definitely not being patient lol which is fine but some people (my gf for instance) will not be able to learn like that. For example, he was telling her loudly (not gonna call it yelling) to set the hook then got frustrated with her several times before actually explaining what he meant by "setting the hook".
@@gregmajewski3406 bro u never been fishing, he said it urgently but not even loud she doesn’t have more then a split second too set the hook . Shes just a softy and so is any one who thinks she should argue with her mentor .He could easily say I’m done I’m not teaching her but he doesn’t u can tell she pisses him off sometimes.
Steve's one of the best storytellers out there. Regardless whether you're into hunting/fishing or not he has great content and finds a way to pull you into his experiences
You can tell Steve was thrown off a few times in this video, but this was incredibly entertaining content. It's cool to see someone as experienced as him, juxtaposed to a beginner. Engaging conversations, thought provoking questions, that only someone new to the scene could ask. Great video!
Lol I love how she said she wouldn't go again. But maybe with some friends that make her laugh, and some booze. When she was so excited finally catching fish. Gotta give credit to those of us that teach yall our secerets!!
I'm very serious, I've been watching meateater since I was a kid on the outdoor channel from seeing him cook javelina in its own stomach, to cooking deer heart, and showing me how to eat bear fat ever since I fell in love with Steve and what he does. Then as I got older and through time I lost touch with him as people do then I see him on joe rogan and heard all the stuff he's been up to and more about his life which made me fall back in love, and now with these new series I fell like I keep finding my way back to steve and this great content which makes me very happy to see how far he's come and how he's never stopped his pursuit of what he wants to accomplish in life!
I agree with Steven I prefer Perch also with Bluegill being a very close second. I am a Michigan boy also and grew up doing the same exact thing...Steven if you see this..Mad respect for you bud..We grew up in the exact same way!
For someone who just recently moved away from Bozeman this made me a little homesick Steven. I love all the content you put out through Meateater. My daughter loves watching with me and is eager to get out in the field some day. Definitely got me eager for the hard water season here in Minnesota!
I was hoping they were going to do a das boat but with an ice shack or a portable! But this is so awesome!!! Doing the Midwest and the North a great service! Nice job Meateater!
All them busters complaining about a short season on Netflix didn't realize the HUGE amount of TH-cam content that is coming out. I live in Louisiana...never seen ice on a body of water, but this makes me want to ice fish.
Damn Steve, these are the people you hire to inspire others to venture into the wonderful world of Outdoorsmanship? I wish I had a degree in journalism :/
Steve's so right. The best part about ice fishing is you dont need to worry about the wind blowing you off your spot. Its like the whole lake is your boat. Just drill some holes, find the fish and drop straight down to them. Oh and not sweating my a$$ off in 90 degree heat is pretty great too.
Bluegill filets are perfect!! Perfect size fish nugget. Tastes so good. Dowm here in TN we catch 50-100 a afternoon between 3 of us. Well have one or 2 big fish fry for the whole neighborhood and save any leftovers for winter. I love bluegill
Enjoy the show and the cooking mixed in making it a little different than the others. MeatEater is the original to the catch and cook on the spot. Thanks bro and god bless meat eater and family
Do a lot of lakes freeze up in the high desert? I know it gets damn cold at night, spent a winter in Afghanistan; but it always got pretty well above freezing during the day.
When those bluegills come into the bait SLOWLY raise the bait up sometimes its 6 inches and sometimes its a foot. But if you raise that bait nice and slow and those fish follow it youll catch them.
So awesome. Should do a "dos boat" themed ice fishing show. Use a flipover or hard sided shack which tours around fishing for multi species. Everyone would do mods for there fishing style
“Steven doesn’t believe in skiing” 😂 what a statement
I don't either! Skiing is an abomination, man was meant to sit and sip coffee.. Not slide down a mountain on the devil's slippers!
Dylan Standing Alone Buddy is soft
Skiing not so fun. Ice fishing is fun as hell.
Fight with the strength of a crow
We’re you likes fishing with this comment or did a good thing just catch?
The glaring absence of alcohol made this nowhere close to your typical Midwest ice fishing experience.
I think i remember hearing Steve saying he was going to cut back on booze of one of his podcasts back in the spring
You have to think of it from a business point of view, alcohol is okay for the average joe to post on youtube, but as a business you wouldn't want to show that and give the wrong impression, even if 99.9% of the viewers would be okay with it.

I love some strong rum in ice
Drinks are probably placed slightly out of view of cameras lol
Lol it was awesome when she said she might not go again and Steve said “ I don’t give a shit, more for me!”
I dont blame her, dude is a terrible teacher and shows zero grace for someone that hasnt ever done it
@@travisbowers5143 Not everyone teaches well. Some people just aint cut out for it.

@@samuelberg1 Might be a bit of both. Not so great teacher, not so great student.
If its cold and the fish are biting, im not interested in teaching a noob how to jig and set a damn hook
I still stand by my Idea of Das fish shack
💯
Make it happen @MeatEater
She's never been called "man" so many times in her life lmao

I love that they talked about the way we act differently towards fellow mammals vs nonmammals
Only some people act differently. Where I am from everyone dispatches their fish.
yeah, I think it's messed up to not kill the fish that you intend to eat as soon as you can
This dudes got a. Lot. Of content. And he’s just getting warmed up.
I think I remember Steve saying on a podcast he’s got 10 years of just Meat Eater filmed, not mentioning all these extra shows. I could be getting people or shows mixed up though.
You should check out the meat eater podcasts
I’m not sure. What. You tried. To write there.
And I will watch em all lol I’ve learned so much just from listening to his shows and podcasts. Def getting his book soon
Great video, but then I’d watch Steven Rinella paint his house. The guy’s just that interesting.
I agree. It's so weird
He is.
just watched the joe podcast yesterday, killing it Steven!!
It was good ...

Love it! Nice change of pace having Tracy narrate over Steve.
His teaching style is identical to my dads. Maybe it’s just a Michigan/Midwestern thing hahah
She calls it gruff but the only way to be less gruff is to tell you you’re doing something right when you actually aren’t lol.
Lol I know. I kept waiting for him to be "gruff". Like... He's teaching you! So don't be upset when he informs you you're doing it wrong.
Love all of your shows. Glad we have one more to watch now!!!
I'm still waiting for "deep drop boys"
This is exactly how it is when I take my fiance fishing or hunting lol a million questions and taking advice poorly lol
I agree with Steven I prefer Perch also with Bluegill being a very close second. I am a Michigan boy also and grew up doing the same exact thing...Steven if you see this..Mad respect for you bud..We grew up in the exact same way!
I like how Steve shows folks how to fish and let's them talk it out.
Watching the fish approach your bait and cussing them out when they don't take it. That's fantastic lol
🤔I think at 48 I've got me a crush on Tracy Crane. Love her laugh & smile.
It is a good video though, I'm loving these new vids👌
I’ve been wanting an ice fishing show for so long
This just sets it for me, MEATEATER needs an ice series! Come on Steve
Great content, you are literally going to ruin all other hunting and fishing shows for me. Love the podcast too. You just need to create Rinella TV.
He's already accomplished destroying hunting shows for me. I turn on the Outdoors Channel and it all sucks now days.
Late to the party here but this was a great watch. Just started listening to the meat eater podcast and its hilarious, highly recommended.
That whole day looked like so much fun ❤️
I take great joy.... in Tracy's frustration. Welcome to ice fishing!
For someone who just recently moved away from Bozeman this made me a little homesick Steven. I love all the content you put out through Meateater. My daughter loves watching with me and is eager to get out in the field some day. Definitely got me eager for the hard water season here in Minnesota!
The more meat eater shows/content, the better. Fucking stoked to try ice fishing with the boys this winter!
Meateater should start promoting the ikejime style of dispatching fish! Great platform for it.
Dude is just awesome! Every episode/story/adventure keeps you intrigued. I absolutely love it! Best shows ever!
Superior Outfitters box at 14:10 I love it!
I love this! One of my favorite things is introducing people to ice fishing who would otherwise never do it.
Steven is such a likeable guy and he’s put a lot of people like me who’ve never hunted on to it.
More Tracy! She's awesome and relatable as we see the world of hunting/fishing through her eyes
Love the fishing segment of the channel. it's amazing
My husband got into ice fishing a year it two ago and loves it! It gives him something to do when hunting season is done.
While I really enjoy Steve's narration, Tracy, you killed it. Great content and I will continue to watch the entire series.
i love learning from someone like Steve.
Who needs a boat when you can walk on water?
If i wasn't already wound up about ice fishing season! This is my favorite part of the outdoors
His teaching and patience leave a lot to be desired lololo!!! U guys need to build a smitty sled ;)
Ha....we grew up on Mississippi River in Iowa. Ice at 7", we drove on the ice with a vehicle. lol
Love love love it.
We got no ice, literally ever.
But still absolutely amazing to watch.
I was hoping they were going to do a das boat but with an ice shack or a portable! But this is so awesome!!! Doing the Midwest and the North a great service! Nice job Meateater!
Looks good and Keeps the sun off and lets your head breath

That thumbnail makes me think he is fishing with his sister.
I've never seen steve so cute. He seems super happy
One thing I've notice is that, Steve ALWAYS double dips. ...But he is teaching you something so it makes it ok lol.
Can’t wait for the hard water!!
Steve you need to pack them fur toques and come up to big windy, aka Lake Winnipeg the worlds BEST walleye fishery!
Damn Steve, these are the people you hire to inspire others to venture into the wonderful world of Outdoorsmanship? I wish I had a degree in journalism :/
You've got the best laugh Tracy Crane!
Just had our last open water fish on my page! Kenora ice is starting to form and I can’t wait !!!

Really good narration she did a fantastic job great episode.
Steve reminds me so much of my Uncle Curtis. Awesome.
It’s a good ice fishing and you catch up nice fish very positive video .
I can watch meateater videos all day
Schoolie ice rod is where it started for me too. Getting the hookset dialed in takes time.
It's almost that time of year again
Enjoy the show and the cooking mixed in making it a little different than the others. MeatEater is the original to the catch and cook on the spot. Thanks bro and god bless meat eater and family
Fish Feelings... Oh Boy! Dangerous water
😂😂
Doesn't get any better than meateater! Thanks for the great content!
Damn right 👍🏾
I always get so excited when I see something new
MarCum technologies on the fish camera is a hell of a name lol
You just made me want a dish of fresh fried fish, love your videos man,Tracey is a trooper
This is a microcosm of every time that I take someone out fishing for the first time.
I live in AZ, I am now hyped as hell to try local ice fishing this January. I’m going to go buy a shit ton of gear and wait for it to freeze up hard
Make sure you don’t get on too thin ice.
Do a lot of lakes freeze up in the high desert? I know it gets damn cold at night, spent a winter in Afghanistan; but it always got pretty well above freezing during the day.
I thought you were joking but the I remember the times I've in driven heavy snow through flagstaff. I would have never have guessed you could.
yeah it was almost 100 degrees in phoenix yesterday
Well Steve runs a decked drawer system so I guess I'm sold now.
When those bluegills come into the bait SLOWLY raise the bait up sometimes its 6 inches and sometimes its a foot. But if you raise that bait nice and slow and those fish follow it youll catch them.
Having Tracy as the host and narrator was a great move. She's excellent.
This is amazing. Need more Meateater videos
Keep hammering these out! This constant content is fantastic.
I have yet another hobby to get into, Steve. Thanks!
I kept waiting for him to be "gruff". Like... He's teaching you! So don't be upset when he informs you you're doing it wrong.
Love it! Never have been ice fishing but I definitely want to go now!
Content savage, lately... Go Team MeatEater
Nothing pisses me off more than ice fishing. I'd do it everyday if I could haha.
Absolutely amazing video .
When women are involved in outdoors is more fun .tanks Steve
This looks way better than skiing (which you couldn’t pay me to do)!

Love to see some crappie, loved this series though
"what is your deal man!" lol idk he's probably just upset you're yelling at him
so ready for some indiana hard water. i hope we get some cold weather this year
In the uk, we’d fish for perch with chopped worm as loosefeed (chum). It’s deadly 👌
What a great episode, looking forward to more like this.
Steve, you've gotta hit those monster rainbows on Canyon Ferry sometime.
This was awesome! Cant wait for hard water!
Those sorel boots she's wearing are perfect for ice fishing. At the end of the day your feet are still toasty warm.
Great video never seen fishing that way thank you!!
Love it. Excited to see next episode
absolutely love this! just getting me hyped for first ice here!
Love the shows you guys are putting out!
This series is going to be 👌
