@@TristanBapst Where's new episodes of MeatEater, the actual Show? Season 13 is long overdue at this point, and there's been no real news on the release of it. Feels like they've been proliferating the youtube content, which is absolutely fantastic. But I really do like the big budget, epic adventure stuff the flagship show brings.
I trapped all through high school 1978-1982. Muskrats were $8 and Raccoons were $25. Big money back then. The local buyers would buy them whole because so many trappers were ruining the hides. As I type this out my old wicker trappers basket still full of what s left of my traps is about 4 feet away from where I sit. Great memories. Thanks.
I hope these films help folks understand the ethical role that hunters play in conservation and game management. The few trappers I know have the deepest understanding and appreciation of animals, and are deeply compassionate people. They're always innovating new ways to be more selective and ethical in their trap sets and operating procedures. Thanks Meateater team, this content helps brings humanity to an unnecessarily maligned tradition.
Even with a cold - your voice and intelligent vernacular and cadence makes an episode you’re narrating and leading just way better. It’s what hooked us all at the beginning, and what keeps us coming back for as much as you’ll put out there :)
Bringing some much needed exposure to a lifestyle that few know anything about. Thanks for a tasteful and informative peak into a trapper's mindset and work ethic.
Thanks Steve. You bring back memories of my childhood trapping experiences. The early morning dark hikes through the woods and fields before catching the bus to school. I remember the “ night noises “ you heard that along the way that were scary but you gradually got used to. The windy morning with the trees swaying and creaking. And most of all the smells of the fall trapping season. All of these experiences just “maned you up”. They were the stepping stones of courage. After childhood I became a USAF fighter pilot and the night noises came back in a single seat fighter. I’ve since retired and having traveled the world, I still think about my trapping days. I recently purchased 145 acres in Eastern Tennessee that borders 200,000 acres of TWRA land. I wanted my grandkids to have a woods to grow up in and a place I can teach them outdoor skills and “man them Up”
This is awesome. Trapped fur and did nuisance wildlife control trapping for years. Glad to see trapping and trappers get a mention and a nod. This bumped Steven up several notches on my scale of respect. Keep up the good work.
Steve's observation on wearing fur vs. wearing a Cowboy hat made from fur was spot on, and it educated me that I fell into the "Trap" (pun intended) of not paying attention to the fact that they're the same natural material.
I've been water trapping for like 4 years. Just started dry ground trapping for k9s. And my goodness are they smart friggin critters holy moly. This is why I love trapping with my kids. Teaching them to be comfortable being uncomfortable. Teaching them to read sign. Teaching them to use a knife and an axe and all the rest. It's been awesome.
I would love to see more videos like this. As someone who didn't grow up hunting and fishing, this is a newfound adventure for me. Even at 56, I'm still learning
Finally, a show about a real outdoorsman sport. I love deer hunting too, but trapping is like Christmas everyday , it is a blast. It’s worth all the effort of skinning , fleshing, and tanning, and it keeps you outdoors all winter. There’s nothing better than putting steel in the ground. Hello from West Virginia.
This was fantastic. I grew up trapping and continue doing so to this day, mind you not as frequently as “way back when”. Steve, you put what I think about this activity into words like I never could. Thanks!
Man!!! Other than your skills in the wild (hunting and trapping), you have a skill that my grandmother referred to as the gift of the gab. Your narration is impeccable 👌.
Always loved the story telling of Steve rinella about his childhood and how it built the person he is today. I always look at life that way when im in outdoors hunting or fishing. People always ask me why do I wake up so early, why do I go out when it’s freezing! Because it builds toughness and i learn something everytime I’m out in nature.
⚠️Not just entertaining but another very informative episode Mr. MeatEater! I always enjoy watching Thank You for bringing us along all your adventures. Blessings Steve.
I love it. It's about time someone showed how this stuff is done. I reckon the necessity of trapping will be lost on a huge segment of our population, but it is a critical wildlife management tool.
Absolutely loved this. Keep this shit up Steve. For those of us too busy to get out and hunt/trap like we did when we were younger this kind of video is pure morphine in these veins.
There should be a Meateater Experiences with Steve and Seth trapping. Maybe not as luxurious and comfortable as fishing in the gulf but I would be in 100%. Love the cold and snow and really want to learn to trap from people with experience. I also live in the northeast so they could get some of those more desirable beaver furs here. Just a thought 😂
Steve/MeatEater please jump in the long form boat everyone here could watch marathons of MeatEater and all of your media. I hate to say your basically the only holdout now and its the future of youtube anyway.P.S. This video has pushed me into trapping yotes finally, (after hunting them for years) being in the SW it isnt easy but im going for it for the simple joy of ddoing it.
I started trapping before I ever learned anything about trapping. That is by sending squirrel tails in to Mepps to be made in to lures. The first actual trapping I did was in 1978 at 15 years [legal age in southern WV at the time] trapping muskrats. By the third season, I had made enough to by traps and started trapping, racoon, grey and red fox, and bobcats. Back then fur was still fairly good money and I trapped until 1984 when I went in the Army. By the time I got out of the service, the prices had dropped and no-one trapped. I tried a couple of time to start trapping again but areas that I could where few and far between so I never did but I still think of those cold snowy days checking the line and long evenings skinning, cleaning and stretching the hides. Great video Steve. Thanks for the memories.
I love mi winter trapping. Reading the sign and trying to out smart the animals is a great challenge. And when the woods and rivers are covered in ice and snow its absolutely beautiful.
great video i’ve been wanting to get into trapping for as long as i can remember but it does seem a bit overwhelming not having anyone to learn from. plan on signing up for basic trapping class in my area thats coming up soon. i live in south louisiana, so ice isn’t really a thing here lol but we got plenty of water.
Cool video, can’t wait to see the rest of the series. Brave choice showing the trapping process start to finish. I can see how it’s not for the squeamish. Full disclosure: I don’t plan on EVER trying any of that out, but I appreciate the education.
As I'm watching this, Colorado prop 127 is failing by about 10%... still time to go before final results but I'm optimistic! Glad to have crews like yours working to defend our rights!
I used to trap bobcats. Never had the opportunity to go for beavers. Very cool video. I enjoyed learning how beaver trapping is done. They have great pelts.
One word of advice is on my family property there were way to many problem beavers. So we trap them. About 25ish years ago. We start trapping them. We trap them all unknowingly to us it was all of them. Problem was we could have used a few to keep a couple nice ponds full and active without too much damage to forest. 2 great ponds eventually dried up. Wish we would have done more research for ourselves on how many to take.
Totally cool, no one seems to think about how most fabrics are made of petroleum and that animal skins are truly renewable. I'm seriously considering taking my local trapper course and giving it a try
always a pleasure to see a new episode with Steve. But, can we get an episode with both Seth and Ryan in it at the same time...a Callaghan cosplay episode if you...who is the most callaghan and who only wishes they were that cool. also...I"m pretty sure I watched the original S1: E4 without realizing that wasn't with Ryan.
Episodes with Steve are leaps and bounds better than the ones without.
Cool opinion. I like the diversity and extra quality content. If you want to see Steve more then purchase the show

Agree
Amen. There should be a disclaimer for videos that he’s not in. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve left a video once I realized it.
The brown nosing is unbelievable
Finally. A Steve meateater video. Easily the best episodes. Steve doesn't make too many of these anymore. This was a very good one
He doesn’t do too many of specifically these because he loses too many of his liberal friends every time he does
I know you’re sitting at home reading these Steve, haha. Keep it up this is what we want.
This was the appropriate amount of detail to entice someone to try trapping. I loved the narration. Well done Steve and the whole Meateater crew!
Love this episode! You can hear the passion in Steve’s voice when he’s talking about trapping. Its infectious. Keep episodes like this coming!!
The trapping episodes are always a favorite of mine, keep up the good work

Fantastic! As a Michigan trapper I can't get enough of this!
Please keep these coming!
Keep the trapping videos coming. You guys have a major influence on what is acceptable in the modern world.

Best one meat eater has produced! I would love to see more trapping videos, tips, instructions, etc…

Loving this series Steve!

mid-video comment right here. This is top shelf material, Steven, thanks.

These cuts are excellent. Meateater what a job out of you guys. Congratulations and continue this series. Obviously we love Steve too.
Absolute gold! Please keep it up Steven!!!

Excellent! Never knew about the bubbles, but it's that kind of info which gets me invested. Thanks for sharing!
Im digging the rough cuts. Keep em coming

This made America!!! Way to keep it going brother!!!!
And veteran soldiers!
Exactly. The continent of North America was explored and settled predominantly by trappers. Fur was everything in Europe before silk became the rage.
I have loved every trapping episode ever made!
Whoever filmed and produced this isn’t getting paid enough. Start to finish incredible !!
Excellent episode with a wealth of information on a little known but essential part of game mgmt… Nice social discourse in it as well. Bravo
⚠️Not just entertaining but another very informative episode Mr. MeatEater! I always enjoy watching Thank You for bringing us along all your adventures. Blessings Steve.
These are the types of videos that got me hooked. Love it!
I feel like I've waited an age for this. Superb video guys. Thank you for taking us along your traplines.
Awesome, I'd love to see more of this!
Been patiently waiting for an episode with Steve!!! Love his huntin and trappin videos
Amazing episode look forward to the future ones
Great please keep this segment Up ❤
Nice to see the kind of problem beaver trapping done in the winter when pelts are prime! Great video, keep em comin!
This is the kind of content I wait for!!!!
The old school trappers, in my opinion, are the best all around woodsmen out there.
Need a bi-weekly series of this, through the winter.
Keep up the trapping videos! You're doing a great job of bringing the right kind of attention to this pastime.
I sure enjoyed this. I look forward to more!
I love it. It's about time someone showed how this stuff is done. I reckon the necessity of trapping will be lost on a huge segment of our population, but it is a critical wildlife management tool.
Great episode. Definitely do more trapping episodes.
Definitely need more of these videos
been waiting for this kind of episode for years!
Hopefully y'all got more trapping videos for us
Best hunter/writer since Chuck Adams. Keep it up Steve.
Absolutely loved this. Keep this shit up Steve. For those of us too busy to get out and hunt/trap like we did when we were younger this kind of video is pure morphine in these veins.
Well dang. This is almost as good as Duck Camp diners. Great show team good job!
That might be my favorite meat eater video ever
Thank you. This was great.

100% a great idea.
Cool stuff. I’m 50 and always have had an interest in trapping. Maybe next year it begins. Keep sharing your experience and wisdom.
You should definitely start. It's a little work and a lot fun. You'll look forward to it every year.

This was great! I really want to get into trapping
Used to trap when I was a kid, haven't done any in many years. This video makes me want to get back into it!
Wow great episode! Great outro too!
Best episode yet
Love the trapping content! Great information!
Definitely a work of art.. so much talent 👍🏽
