      Is there a way to adjust the Marcatos to be Velocity controlled as well when implementing this technique? It seems that OT has the Marcatos responding more to Mod while the Staccatos and staccatissimos respond to Vel.

    • @Martinbeef
      @Martinbeef 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AlexPfeffer I’m finding it difficult as I’m not as experienced composer and have just been used to the VSL ecosystem for the last 10 years. Sine is quite different, and it’s just hard to get used to new things I guess. I’m not sure why there are so many mic positions, and whether I need to add more reverb to the mix, or whether the Tallinn built in reverb is enough. I’m hoping to incorporate Tallinn into my 1st big composition and video project, starting with a trip to the island of Skokholm, which is a nature reserve of the coast of Wales.

    • @AlexPfeffer
      @AlexPfeffer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Martinbeef I wouldn't overthink the process. It is something that you get experience with the more you use it. If you finished a track, try loading a few mic instances, try some EQ or additional reverb and at one point you will like the results :) ... keep in mind that this process never stops. You may find some great settings and then 10 years later you may think "why the heck did I work like this" ... enjoy the trip! :D

  • @joanna439
    @joanna439 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Alex, your videos are excellent and thanks for this too. Two important points in my view, (using Austrian Audio H65 headphones and thankfully with perfect pitch) I could not hear any change from the expressive vibrato to the subtle vibrato after listening to it about 8 times at 4:50 - perhaps having both patches selected was the error? The other point is that imo the dynamic ranges in the switching between the 4 patches at 7:00 is so wide and uncontrollable that it renders this feature useless unless one is using another controller simultaneously. I'd love to know what you think on this. Thanks again.

    • @AlexPfeffer
      @AlexPfeffer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Joanna, I don't have perfect pitch and have a hearing loss of 70% on my right ear but I can hear the differences between those two vibrato on my smartphone, so I am not sure what the problem is. Besides that if you find the other options useless then Sine or using this feature may be nothing for you.

    • @joanna439
      @joanna439 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AlexPfeffer I wasn't expecting such a dismissive response (which you didn't address either) and I went to a bit of effort to ask your opinion. I use Sine (with a new Max1 64gb, Dynaudio Bm6A speakers and I merely used the Hi-X65 to make sure I made no mistake). All I can say is I'd love to have your smartphone (I'm on an iPhone 10). Sorry if I hurt your feelings but I never intended to and I still think you make interesting videos. Have a nice day

    • @AlexPfeffer
      @AlexPfeffer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joanna439 first of all, thank you and sorry, but I don't understand why perfect pitch wouldn't have anything to do with detecting vibrato. I am aware I was a bit snippy-ish when I said that but I can not know or do not know why you are not hearing the difference between those two. I hear it and it is there ... .
      Regarding the other issue with the dynamic ranges and that it renders the feature useless. Then what can I say? We have all different taste. There are sample libs and articulations that I prefer. Compressors and EQs I tend to use more than others. Why? Because there is gear that I prefer ... so if you don't like the dynamic range then I would suggest using another sample because it is basically not your cup of tea.
      Please don't get me wrong here, but I am not someone who wants someone to like something only because I do. I, personally, am fine with using this feature, otherwise I wouldn't have done this video.

    What an absolute gamechanger! Every developer should implement this. And you can do this with any OT instrument supported in Sine?

    • @AlexPfeffer
      @AlexPfeffer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! As far as I know it won't work on any but it works with a combo of certain OT instruments. I can't say exactly which but I think it was limited from lib to lib, however, please don't take me for granted :)

  • @reniarlegieps
    @reniarlegieps 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Alex, very useful presentation. But I cannot replicate the morph between subtle and expressive vibrato because I can only set both expressions either to subtle or to expressive, but not one to subtle and one to expressive. I used exactly the same setup as you concerning the daw and the library. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

    Hi Alex, thanks for this video! I just purchased Berlin Strings and I'm trying to do what you've described, but in my version OT put tremolo and sustains into separate folders. Tremolo is in Violin 1 ornaments while sustain is in Violin 1 longs and shorts. Within the same folder I'm able to do what you've described, but now It won't let me merge those two articulations because they're in separate folders. Any help would be much appreciated!

    • @AlexPfeffer
      @AlexPfeffer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What do you mean with folders? On the hard drive or within sine? Be aware of how to place the patches once you dragged and dropped them over to the right. There are two different ways possible. Hope that helps.

    • @nickiadams4388
      @nickiadams4388 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AlexPfeffer Thanks for getting back to me! This is in sine - I'm able to morph just as your video demonstrates with for example, sustains and potato longs - because they're both in the violin 1's longs and shorts sub folder. However, because tremolo is in a different sub folder (ornaments) it won't let me morph between sustains and tremolos. I noticed in your video you don't seem to have any sub folders though. When I drop down violins sine gives me the following subfolders: Longs and Shorts, Ornaments, Dynamics, Repetitions, Octave scale runs. I'm not able to morph between two articulations if they're in different subfolders. Thanks again for any advice you can offer!
