A 13 speed transmission is just a 9 speed with an extra range gear on the back of it. I’ll have to do some checking but I was told that most 9 speed could be made into a 13 speed by putting on a new rear section on it.

Drove a lot of cam4 Cummins 1986 was my first 3 month old international. I drove it 2 years and mo rd to another company. The. I. 1992 bought my first truck 1985 international 350 cam 3. Real good runner. Then an 86 freightliner 400 cam 4. You know the difference between a freightliner and a jehovah's witness? You can always close the door on a JW. If you've driven a freightliner you'll know what I mean.
Now I've a 2000 international with an N14. Had it 16 years now love it. But that old binder you got brings back memories. Those seats where top class in their day. Crawled thru that window many times to go to bed.
Only negative about those bi ders is the passenger seat on the heater box makes for a bad ride for the passenger but easy to fix the heater.
Fix it up and put some krown rust prevention on the body it will preserve your wiring a d prevent corrosion even on aluminum cabs. Plus it lubricates all the joints and panels for a quieter ride. It's a Canadian product, being from Ontario I've used it for over 20 years and I get remarks about my truck and the lack of corrosion. Enjoy your project and ride and God bless.

The engine serial number is at the rear fuel pump side of the block on a pad just at the corner of the block !! The fuel pump should have a tag on it just in front of the fuel solenoid !! The numbers on that tag will tell you the calibration and rating the pump is set to !! You can get the CPL with the engine serial number and other info from Cummins !!

If you put the 2 trucks side by side and look at the build you will see why your wrong. I have a 1977 Chevrolet Bison, same as a General by GMC, if you compare that to a 1977 Peterbilt you would wonder why anybody would drive that dinky cab, poorly laid out truck vs the General.

cool truck at a great price . deals like that dont come often and usually go to people that dont need anymore stuff . basically you got a free truck . i mean really , you said 1,800 dollars . something just does not add up . most people i know would want 1,800 for the turbo alone from that truck and if they dont get it they will just let it rot away rather then to help someone that needs it . it seems like the people that dont need always get more and the people that need get nothing . i just dont understand the reasoning and the mentality of why it is this way .

A lot of good memories of riding around with him in the summer as a little one. His was blue. Definitely recognize the smoke on a cold start lol, classic old Cummins. The only thing dad ever had a problem with was the turbo blew and the engine overheated. He did a partial rebuild and she kept on running, but he was running ridiculous outlaw weights.

22.5s give just a little more power to the ground, clearance difference isn't enough to worry about.
I've run both, hauling corn silage and sweet corn out of the field.
With 24.5s, some say they ride better, but air ride suspension, air ride cab and air ride seat .. like a Caddy!!

@@aaronkline9102 not quite sure what you mean by over rev...
The tires are designed to work at a speed greater than the speed limit, without coming apart in normal circumstances...
Engine should be governed around 2100 rpms....
I have 6 class 8 trucks currently... I've had no less than 3 at a time for 40 years.. around here, most farmers would switch to 22.5s for better power in the field at low speed. It's much cheaper than swapping gears!! My three main trucks are all 425 horse, all A model 10s (low hole) all 4:10.. two are speed governed at 70 mph.. that's about 1600 engine rpms in 10th... The other is governed at 57 mph...thats 1450 engine rpms.. With on and off road miles.... The lower milage one has 1.12million, the higher one has around 1.7million.... routine maintenance, no major repairs... (A water pump, wheel bearing, U joint... And currently, one is due for a new clutch... It still has the original in it)..
Not sure how I could not "over rev" something...
