There is no country in the world as far as I know That is ruled by the Noble Qur'an and the sunna sharifa expect saudi Arabia There are Muslims who would love to be in your beautiful land
+Hugo Del Aguila I disagree my friend they biggest exporter of terrerism since the iranian revolution is iran is the one which funds these groups ie and of course muslim brotherhood who are pro sufi pro shia group jahbat nusra are shia huzballah are shias the taliban are sufis and shia mixed alqeada leaders and Isis leader have been houboured by iran so you tell me which group is supported by saudi so this is unfair comment and you should apolgise
What an interview! I applaud both for a civilized discussion. But the undisputed winner are the viewers because of the well prepared unbiased interviewer.
The Yemen war is just because Saudi Arabia knows very well behind the houthis is iran because iran has design to distory Saudis I don't why people wasting breath criticising saudi when the really people who are causing all this killing is not the Saudis but iran and it's allies because they want proxy war to begin
Khalid AlShehry Just the fact that he compares Saudi Arabia to ISIS is a big bash to the face, which by the way, everyone know they have the same ideology. He talks about the death penalty by beheading, he says it's barbaric and it's illegal to talk about a change of government. That's just a few examples. Saudi Arabia is a shithole.
***** "nationalistic and loyal to the Government" Of course they are, if they say anything wrong about the government they get their heads cut off. Listen, here in the developed world we have something called free speech and freedom of press. I'm sad that you can't experience that, it's wonderful. Even though it's pretty biased, if you search enough you can get the truth about the world and Saudi Arabia is an horrible place to live. I've seen the slums. The sewers flowing in the middle of the "streets". Damn. And that was just a little bit that they managed to get on camera. That's what you call better quality of living than EU? Come on, stop lying to yourself. Pray that the world keeps buying your oil because if they stop... You will start eating each other to survive in that desert.
***** XD Okay, Okay. Look I've never been to Saudi Arabia so I can't say for sure what it is or not. One thing I'd like to ask you though, why women can't drive or can't drive alone? The fundamentalism is real in your country and it's sad because it's true that some places I've seen are pretty. Also you can't blame me, blame Russia (mostly Russia but not only) for painting your country as the exporter of Wahhabi Islam and Salafism which is the roots of Daesh. And I'm from a country who is exporting Light Armored Vehicles to your country and maybe more which they hide I don't know...
Were is the west dignity get it through think head saudi not supporting any terrorist group Isis was created funded and weoponized by the west so get facts right
Oh man…. This is hilarious!! Starting from the interview questions on democracy and Syria, the Saudi member of government answers questions exactly the same as the Qatari bureaucrat in mehdi’s previous interview😂😂😂😂😂
First of all, I am from Saudi Arabia, and I can assure you that the majority of the citizens of Saudi Arabia are relatively happy. We maybe don't have a voting system on who is going to be king, but we are happy. Our education is free, from the first grade to college education (on top of that gov gives money to college students), also free health care...etc of the services that Saudi Arabia gives its citizens. Now, that being said, Saudi Arabia also have internal problems. But these problems are all related to things like; small percentage of unemployment, economic inflation, housing, and the lack of sustainability regulations... etc. these problems exist every where. We don't have a problem with freedom of speech as Mehdi said, anyone can talk anywhere he wants. what is not permitted is the violent protesting and that is it. Second, Mehdi Hassan, although I like him, was biased against Saudi Arabia in this interview, and he presented Saudi Arabia as violent and bloody as ISIL with his questions. Maybe he did so because he doesn't know much about Saudi Arabia, and maybe all he knows is what the western media portrait in its media about Arabs and Saudi Arabia. Finally, Saudi Arabia works in Yemen hand by hand with the Yemeni people. We help them as brothers and neighbors. We want their stabilization as much as they do. If the government of Saudi Arabia have the intention of harming the Yemeni people, we Saudi Arabia's people wouldn't support it and we will go against it.
How do you feel about living under the most oppressive regime in the world right now? How do you feel about your government exporting Wahhabism and terrorism? How do you feel about them cluster-bombing innocent people in Yemen?
I wonder why Mehdi didn't correct this guy. Saudi Arabia is not the Birthplace of Islam. Islam was born in 6th century while Saudi Arabia was born in early 20th century.
+N3aWajhey I am laughing at you my bro.. You have only seen poverty of my country but haven't seen power yet.. Go and Google it.. It will help you a lot.
+Jabir Ansari it's not a silly government brother it's a terrorist State and a very dangerous one these are not Muslims they are Hadithers they pray two the hadith they have destroyed Islam with this Ridgid salafi wahabi hadither ideology
he saying we went to yaman because of invitation of the goverment!!!at the same time don't except the invitation of Syrian government for Iran!!!!!! what a hypocrisy shame
As a Saudi, I know you guys (westerners) want us to have a democracy. While that sounds nice, its also worth noting that what the man said was correct. There are a lot of people that are loyal to the king. For example, the majority of Saudis are employed by the government, how do expect them to overthrow it? I want to be realistic, we can't shoot for democracy but should ask for reform - which to be fair is happening as I speak and I am happy to see change. And please, don't speak about Saudi Arabia unless you know something about the country and BEEN THERE. Otherwise, you have no real grounds for your argument. Peace
we need regime change in Saudi Arabia they have funded and supported terrorist Networks all over the world and to be fair this is at the behest of the United States and there's really government none the less we need regime change in Saudi Arabia it's clear that Saud family is the worst when it comes to human rights and have no place to criticize Bashar al-assad for anything
I am really impressed by the maturity of the Saudi Ambassador. He is not what many media outlets want us to believe of the Saudi leadership -A bunch of intolerant and uninformed lot that cannot withstand the slightest of criticism. Mehdi as always is unbiased and well prepared.
+N3aWajhey first I'm persian and proud second I'm a guy third i didn't say anything indecent in my last comment it is you who has to start talking about sex because he can't have a proper conversation typical Saudi, and i know why, it's because of years and years of inbreeding that's what happens when you live in a dessert with nothing around except your sisters and daughter's and maybe camels, you get a moron like you that contradicts him self by first insulting a guy than telling him he has to talk decently. and don't worry about replying i already feel bad for bringing myself down to your level.
Just to let you know that no UN ambassador can survive such an interview and this is exactly why they never do interviews unless it’s in a national channel or they reviewed the questions before.
"Saudi Arabia's problem with ISIL is not the act of beheading but how they got to it" - Best line so far. Great summary of the differences between legal barbaric governments and non-legal.
+Tamuno-Opubo Cookey-Gam (Cooks) Are u dumb or what? The kill people for speaking against Islam, propagating other religion. Atheism is banned there. Women cant vote. They control how people should dress. They take people from other countries and treat them almost like slaves. Should I go on?
A great example! Salute to Mehdi Hasan despite his knowledge and intelligence he anchors interviews so well with conviction and facts! even though he probably knows the current state of affairs!
You have to ask this guy if he has any respect for humans or not ,any other subject will be waste of time because he just lies with his own nonsense logic ,he is in a different world just like Israelis ,international rules of laws doesn’t apply to them
I can agree with Ambassador in one point, Syrian people deserve election but Saudis, dont deserve election and freedom.Thats why they dont leave Saudi Arabia
+Atheist Reactionary Don't get into theological minutia. Its better to get into things you can understand or atleast have the will to do so. Not all atheists get killed. Its for people who convert from Islam to any other belief and that too when they incite violence against Islam. An example would be Ayan Hirsi and Salman Rushdie. No one is enamored with killing in Islam. Punishments are brought in as corrective actions not daily life paraphernalia. Don't over play it. We had people all along in Islamic history like Ibn Warraq who wrote against Islam but nothing stood against Islamic Intellectual arguments. If you are so worried about atheistic supremacy, look at your own backyard and convince the people not to convert to fasting growing religion on earth and if you are going to use force as always, be my guest. You are on the fast track to receding back to nothing like you've always been in history.
***** The end will come sooner than most think. Saudi oil is no longer a great necessity - nowhere near what it was in the 70s. So give it another twenty years max, these guys are gonna be selling sand.
Are u kidding me 17 minutes for both Yemen Syria?? Is he after guinness record? Hasan just races through oblivious to non-reported detail. Constantly interrupting asking new questions without allowing decent answers, 17 minutes, 10 of which Hasan was talking. This interview needs redoing, hope AJ do another with less haste for one country at a time
Shame that they don't talk about some effective practical solutions that will lead to the decrease of killings in Syria and Iraq.. They just discussed statistics and politics
The ambassador should be commended to talk to a channel which is supported by one of it's foes, Qatar, and Mehdi doing his Qatari masters bidding. Mind getting one of the Qatari masters on the seat and asking them uncomfortable questions about the brotherhood, kafala system, the people being killed in the inhumane stadium constructions etc etc.
If the people happy with their ruler, let them vote! You won't lose anything and you would have legitimate ruler! If it's not the solution, the stop giving the people of syria that "solution"... duh!
I want to enter to this man's head and take a look what really think about what he said. All he did was rejected or lied in all questions. What is the chemical component of his brain made up of?
Poor interviewer! If you ask a question , just wait to listen to the answer, but Mehdi jumps from a question to another before hearing the answer . What’s the point if the questions if you’re not interested in the answers?!👎🏻
well done mehdi keep asking those tough questions...
A great interview. This is an example of a great journalist, making the public employee/politician accountable.
+Bob WTF... Who is the great journalist?
Anybody can do a better job... Even you

yes great interview we need more reporters like this guy excellent interview
Mehdi Hassan is one of the best journalists in the whole world. CNN should take note.
iam from Saudi, and I know the Yemen war was just a show off for the new king and his son.
ههههههههه, لا عاد هههه, شكله حذف تعليقه..بس ارجوكي لا تعطيني لايك

Mehdi Hassan... Excellent!!!
Great journalist. Keep up the good work Al Jazeera, keep up the great work Mehdi.
lol, It's so funny to watch Mehdi bashing that man. The man got destroyed on so many points. Respect Mehdi!
+Gundisalvus are you sure? cuz what I am seeing is the opposite lol
Khalid AlShehry lol what? Explain.
Khalid AlShehry Just the fact that he compares Saudi Arabia to ISIS is a big bash to the face, which by the way, everyone know they have the same ideology. -Ok what is your source?
-Common sense!!!!
Do you Saudiss have any sense of dignity?
Were is the west dignity get it through think head saudi not supporting any terrorist group Isis was created funded and weoponized by the west so get facts right
Once he said "beheadings are not inhumane" that is where the conversation should have ended.
Brilliant journalism.
Oh man…. This is hilarious!! Starting from the interview questions on democracy and Syria, the Saudi member of government answers questions exactly the same as the Qatari bureaucrat in mehdi’s previous interview😂😂😂😂😂
saudis have some of the best diplomats on the planet go check them! They are far more clever than we ever given credit for
May Allaah bless saudi
I admire the Saudi diplomacy ... very sophisticated
Khashoggi would be proud of your comment!

I wonder why Mehdi didn't correct this guy. Saudi Arabia is not the Birthplace of Islam. Islam was born in 6th century while Saudi Arabia was born in early 20th century.
Most silly government on earth after Isreal..

+N3aWajhey He is getting interrupted because he is spouting absolute nonsense and straight up lying in Hassan's face.
he saying we went to yaman because of invitation of the goverment!!!at the same time don't except the invitation of Syrian government for Iran!!!!!!
what a hypocrisy
shame
Mehdi Hasan was the end of Upfront. He was the epitome of brave journalism. Always fearless and asking the hard questions.
true
Well done Mehdi
Excellent mehdi
There is only one Mehdi in billion. Only Mehdi can question these liers. I wish there were more like him. Go Mehdi👏👏👏
Mehdi hasan always a delight

+Jr Mack if you know just a little about Saudi you will now that they are against terrorism.
+Youseff A If the people of Saudi Arabia are loyal to the king, they can elect him for the highest post. So why not do it democratically?
At least 80 percent of the British population is loyal to the queen yet we also have a representative government.
Nishit Raj its not your business.
I am really impressed by the maturity of the Saudi Ambassador. He is not what many media outlets want us to believe of the Saudi leadership -A bunch of intolerant and uninformed lot that cannot withstand the slightest of criticism. Mehdi as always is unbiased and well prepared.

wooooohha ....mehdi Hassan just exposed him like anything
Just to let you know that no UN ambassador can survive such an interview and this is exactly why they never do interviews unless it’s in a national channel or they reviewed the questions before.
Fantastic!! Mehdi asks the questions which should be asked.
why do Saudi Arabians look like they are half bangladesh or indian ?
At least Al Jazeera English can still pretend to be unbias

IM Almalki i think the vote was somewhat low-level. BBC described it as "municipal elections with limited powers"
Mr hasan all is forgiven. Brilliant job. Amazing interview. What a hypocrite!!! Could not stop laughing. Great got you.
A great example! Salute to Mehdi Hasan despite his knowledge and intelligence he anchors interviews so well with conviction and facts! even though he probably knows the current state of affairs!
brilliant mehdi.....
Saudi Ambassador: "UN has debunked UN reports" hahaha... now that is preposterous.
Best truth of islamic teaching
The reason why Saudi Arabia and its allies are in Yemen is to secure their border. Saudi Arabia is causing the problems in the region
The ambassador can't take the heat
He took all of it I’m not sure what you’re saying you’re probably a political imbecile
You have to ask this guy if he has any respect for humans or not ,any other subject will be waste of time because he just lies with his own nonsense logic ,he is in a different world just like Israelis ,international rules of laws doesn’t apply to them
I am scared to comment , cause i reside in Saudi Arabia :(
Search vpn and other things i forgot that the goverment will not be able to trace you
Bro use VPN
OMG. Saudi ambassador is fine with beheading practice and Saudi Arabia is our biggest alley in the middle east. what a shame!
The interviewer has difficulty to shut up and listen, thinking he is a great when constantly interrupting by reading from his piece of paper.
ambassador eats mehdi and slap him right and left!!!!!!!!
I don't like the way the interviewer conducted the interview..
Mehdi knows how to call a spade a spade. He is brutally honest.
Fcng rubbish. He is a Fcng piece of garbage who supports terrorists. And then accuses other countries??
I can agree with Ambassador in one point, Syrian people deserve election but Saudis, dont deserve election and freedom.Thats why they dont leave Saudi Arabia
Great and calm responses by ambassador!

Saudise have a right to defend them self
By bombing other countries?
+BugsByte !! Jes by bombing Shia militias
musti mon So by bombing people of other faiths in other countries, got it.
Saudi Arabia is not a democracy there should be a democracy in Saudi Arabia and Iran but one that is free of Western and Israeli influence.
Well grilled and exposed hypocrite
